Hi Weezard, and thanks for all your spelling corrections! They really do help to make Wikipedia look more professional, and your help is much appreciated. Have you considered joining the Typo Team? It sounds like it might be right up your street. Also, I noticed that lots of your fixes are to do with train articles, so you might also want to check out WikiProject Trains. Hello Mr Stradivarius, thanks for your welcome msgs this afternoon.
I found it comical that you misspelled my name...no seriously! Any way to raise a laugh is a good way.
I shall bear in mind your suggestions that I join the typo team and the UK rail project.
It's good to be here tho' it will take some while for me to get my failing brain around all the wiki-ettiquette, which would be the main reason I take some time to plunge deeper into this magnificent project.

Talking to Mr. Stradivarius![edit]
I took some time discovering how to get in touch with the headliner then, after posting a reply to his msgs below, saw a banner at the top of his talk page which told me to reply in here!
Well I replied over there already so if you, Mr. S, want to move my reply to this page then you're welcome and I'll continue along my learning curve!

Sorry about misspelling your user name in my original message - looks like I might be the one that needs to join the Typo Team, eh? ;) Don't worry too much about replying on the wrong user talk page. With these user talk pages everyone has their own preferred way to keep messages, and there's no real obligation to observe them strictly 100% of the time. Seems like most people prefer to keep conversations together though, as it's easier to keep track of things. About the WikiProjects - feel free to ease yourself in by degrees. You don't have to go and join everything straight away, and taking some time to explore could be a good idea. But also, don't be afraid to make mistakes. This is a wiki, after all, and it is very easy to undo pretty much everything. Also, most people around here are nice and will be happy to help you out should you need it. LD&ECR versus LD&EC[edit]
I was "correcting" a typo on a page related to this subject because both abbr. LD&EC and LD&ECR had been used. I assumed that the shorter abbr. was the correct one, being the one also used in the page heading, originated by another user. Then I did a bit of deeper research and found that the longer abbr. "LD&ECR" is more common, so I decided to undo my typo and restored the original page. This of course means that I ought to correct the other instance where the shorted abbr. had been used.
But now I'm stepping into uncharted territory (for me) as the Heading line ought also to be changed and I don't know what effect that will have on the saving of the page and on the search facility. - In general, just go ahead and change it. It's possible that it could break incoming links that link to that particular section, but usually people link to the page instead. You can check the incoming links to a page using the "what links here" tool in the "toolbox" pane in the bottom left. If someone has linked to the section, or you think that someone might have, then you can keep the link intact and change the name as well by using the {{anchor}} template. Having said that, in the case of abbreviations like LD&ECR it is usually better to spell it out (at least for the first time), or to find another way of stating it if that would be too long. - Ah, actually, forget that - I see from this that you must be talking about the article title. In that case, you need to use the move function to change it. (Don't copy and paste the article to the new title! That creates cleanup problems that an admin has to come and fix.) Moving an article to a new title can be a drastic step though - you should probably ask on WikiProject Trains to see what they think, or start a requested move to give people time to discuss the change. — Mr. Stradivarius ♫ 13:09, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Midland Railway 1000 Class[edit]
Hi, these were not typos. 30 were built by Deeley before the 1907 renumbering; these were numbers 1000-29. In 1907, their numbers were increased by 5 (this allowed the Johnson engines, previously 2631-5, to become 1000-4); but in 1908-09, another 10 were built, which is why column 4 shows numbers up to 1044 and column 7 shows a total of 40. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:11, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Oops! Thanks for the clarification and correction there, Redrose. My bad, but it was not clear what had been going on.
