Added following to Nair description

The staunch adherence to the Hindu faith among Nairs has resulted in a number of Nair – Muslim clashes, mostly in the Malabar region. Most notable among them are the Captivity of Nairs at Seringapatam,[1]

The defeat of the Nairs in Seringapatam resulted in the destruction of Hinduism in Southern Mysore region. However the Nairs of Travancore, with the help of the British were able to defeat the Muslim forces in 1792 at the Third Anglo-Mysore War.[2]

Tipu Sultan's Tiger. Victoria and Albert Museum, London

Tipu Sultan had lost his sword in a war with the Nairs of Travancore during the Battle of the Nedumkotta, in which he was defeated.[3] The Nair army under the leadership of Nair Dewan of Travancore Lord Raja Kesavadas again defeated the Mysore army near Aluva. The Maharaja, Dharma Raja, gifted the famous sword to the Nawab of Arcot, from where the sword went to London. The sword was on display at the Wallace Collection, No. 1 Manchester Square, London. At an auction in London in 2004, the industrialist-politician Vijay Mallya purchased the sword of Tipu Sultan and some other historical artifacts, and brought them back to India for public display after nearly two centuries.[4]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Nair. When removing content, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the content has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Nair, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. Sitush (talk) 09:07, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You do not just get your own way here. This place works by WP:CONSENSUS. I am pretty sure that you have been told this before, under another username, but in any event it is how it is. I replied to your comment at Talk:Nair and you should respond there, rather than just reverting to a hopelessly inadequate, biased, unsourced, caste glorifying article that has been shown to be wrong time and again over the last few months. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 09:09, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mr Sitush,

Who changed the original article ??? Where the hell is it ? You should admit you've been using the word glorify too often ? What if a caste has a glorious past ? Are you jealous ?

Is that why you stick to polyandry ? Or is it like you are so perverted that this is something that interests you ? Why do you cite useless references and defame Nair's ? I'm pretty sure i'm gonna work this out. It's just that I dont find much time between my busy schedule.

You are totally biased. This was something I wasnt sure of formerly. Now I am.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors, as you did on User talk:Vineet Nayar1. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. You are welcome to rephrase your comment as a civil criticism of the article. Thank you. Joyson Noel Holla at me! 09:20, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

@ Joyson Noel,

Please confirm whether Sitush is just a contributor or a hired editor. My statements were pertaining to the original article with proper references which a lot of people have been trying to retain. I need a justification for the removal of the entire article(the original one) despite having all references and citations.

Greetings, Vineet Nayar

I am not paid, and even suggesting that I might be has got some people blocked in the past. A bit of advice: read WP:CANVASS and WP:CONSENSUS, as well as everything in the Five Pillars. I do appreciate that this is a lot of reading but myself & plenty of others would be prepared to explain anything that you do not understand. It would make a pleasant change to be dealing with someone who appears to be from the Nair community and actually has taken the time to understand how Wikipedia works, rather than just rushing headlong into a block from editing. You are welcome to help improve the article but you do need to appreciate the "system". Drop me a note if you do not understand something. - Sitush (talk) 09:40, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, I have just removed your contribution to Talk:Nair that was directed at IP115.*.*.* You should not speculate about another contributor's belief system/worldview/religion etc. Sure, if they have self-declared then it is not an issue but I cannot recall that being the case with regard to the person you were writing about. - Sitush (talk) 09:53, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Unfortunately, I see that you have started here by attacking other editors and impugning their motives. Please take this as a friendly warning that such an approach to Wikipedia will not be tolerated, and please be aware (if you are not already) that a number of editors have been indefinitely blocked for making personal attacks on some of the caste-related articles here. If you wish to make any changes to articles, as long as you write in a neutral manner and provide reliable sources, there should not be a problem. However, if anyone contests your changes by removing them, please then discuss it on the article's Talk page, and do not edit war over it. I strongly suggest you take a look over the links given in your Welcome message, above, and in particular have a read of the policy articles I have linked to in my message here - click on the blue words. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 10:06, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Boing! said Zebedee,

What should an user do if despite providing valid references and points, the editor does not approve it ? Would you be free to talk ?

Greetings, Vineet Nayar.

Hi. You should discuss it on the article's Talk page and seek a consensus in support of your view - if you get such a consensus then you can make your changes, but if not then you cannot. I personally am acting solely in an admin capacity on these articles - that is, I'm watching and helping to enforce due process and policy. In order to remain neutral from that perspective, I cannot engage in the actual content discussion itself - other editors will have to discuss and decide upon the appropriate content. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 11:05, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
All right thank you very much. I'm trying my best to learn the wikipedia system as well as the jargons. I will look into what you have provided.
Just so you know, the second paragraph in Nair article is not framed properly, incomplete and without any references. I'll add valid points with refrences and would like to explain it in a beeter way.
/* Start of addition */
Nairs were traditionally matrilineal, which means that the family traces its roots through the women in the family. The

children inherited the property of their maternal family. Their family unit, the members of which owned property jointly, included brothers and sisters, the latter's children, and their daughters' children. The oldest man was legal head of the group and he was respected as the Karnavar of the family or Tharavadu. Rules of marriage and residence varied somewhat between kingdoms.[5]

Copyright violation[edit]

I've had to revert one of your edits to Nair because it is infringes the copyright of Encyclopedia Britannica, sorry. This is one of the reasons why it was replace with something else some months ago.

I have also commented at Talk:Nair about some of the other edits that you have made. Generally speaking, copying and pasting from an older version is unlikely to be productive, and this is even more so when the article has received a lot of "eyes" looking at it in the intervening time. - Sitush (talk) 11:56, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

All the eyes ? Seriously ? Can you tell me the user who had contributed to the original article? Which was very nicely framed by the way.. Omanakutty sultan under a new userid Nair has his eye on it. I dont thik anyone else would have any problem with he original article except any editors who might be a little biased. The original article was well written and was neutral as well since it covered all the points and had a very well made summary.

User:Nair is blocked and has been for some time. - Sitush (talk) 21:08, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 07:40, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

December 2011[edit]

Please do not attack other editors, as you did here and at Talk:Nair. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 10:15, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you continue these personal attacks - accusing others of defamation, etc - you are very likely to end up blocked from editing -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 10:16, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've checked old archives. All the users have been blocked viz claimed to be a 'Sockpuppet' eventually. You yourself are biased. You dont accept my references nor do you give any reason for denial. Bong said Zebedee, I wonder what kind of admin you are. You do what Sitush says.

I know what i'm gonna do once you block me. My generous donations to Wikipedia wont go waste. Dont give me that crap warning again.

I have made no comments whatsoever about your references - my only actions have been related to your behaviour, and I have not acted on any personal opinions related to article content. You have been asked to avoid making personal attacks by several people, and if you continue then you will end up blocked - it is as simple as that. And you get no priority treatment based on claims of making donations to the Wikimedia Foundation -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 20:00, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
PS: Just to add that I really don't want you to be blocked, which is really why I was giving you those warnings - please see them as my way of trying to prevent worse future conflicts -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 20:12, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Vineet Nayar1. You have new messages at Boing! said Zebedee's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
Dont misunderstand, I actually meant donations in the sense that Wikipedia should be fair and should not be under control of a partcular person. Anyways thanks for your help. No worries.

Vineet Nayar1 (talk) 20:19, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, OK, sorry I misunderstood. I've replied further at User talk:Boing! said Zebedee#Greetings -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 20:22, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nair lead[edit]

I suggest that if you want to change anything in the lead section of Nair then you discuss it first on the talk page. There have been numerous disputes regarding that article and making changes such as this require consensus.

Furthermore, in this specific instance, content that you introduced such as "martial race" has previously been removed after discussion. - Sitush (talk) 20:07, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It was removed because ? Even if you remove the term 'Marital Race', I can cite hundreds of sources for kalaripayattu. I've added a new section in the talk page. Please give the reasons over there.

Vineet Nayar1 (talk) 20:31, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I opened a section replied regarding the issue a full 17 minutes before your note here. I provided my rationale in that. - Sitush (talk) 21:11, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please leave off the personal comments at Talk:Nair, and stick to just discussing the article and its sources. We have had far too many discussions on caste-related Talk pages descend into personal attacks, and a number of people have been blocked because of them. I'm quite sure you don't mean to attack anyone and you only wish to improve the article, but making it personal could easily lead to people misunderstanding your motives. Regards -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 16:44, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. I'll take care henceforth. Thanks.
