List of Jazz Contrafacts

You removed the entry regarding ″All the Things You Are″ and ″Arthur's Theme - A Section″. They are exactly the same changes hence I think latter does qualify as a contrafact. Rmkeller (talk) 05:14, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

Perhaps you didn't read the definition on the Contrafact article: "In jazz, a contrafact is a musical composition consisting of a new melody overlaid on a familiar harmonic structure." Rmkeller (talk) 23:45, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

I read it. I think it's wrong. "Contrafactum" was in the Middle Ages (when the term originated) a specific designator for a melody whose lyrics had been replaced. We need a term for a chord structure whose melody has been replaced—but re-using "contrafactum" for that just clouds the issue.
