License tagging for Image:GhadirSubmarine.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:GhadirSubmarine.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:08, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Iranian Navy[edit]

Hey there, VatooVatoo, I've been watching your work on the Iranian Navy and I just want to say "Keep it up!" It's an increasingly important field and the info on wikipedia was depressingly insufficient. Thanks! --Cjs56 18:37, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to Chinese Cat-14[edit]

Message posted on Wednesday, May 2, 2007[edit]

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Chinese Cat-14. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/china/pcfg-cat.htm in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Chinese Cat-14 with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Chinese Cat-14 with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Chinese Cat-14 saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your original contributions are welcome.

Iranian Navy[edit]

I am Iranian, I'd like it if Irans Navy was that big as you claim it is but it just isn't. The numbers won't add up if you make it 23,600. Irans military has 545,000 active troops: 125 revolutionary guards and 420 regular army soldiers, it is 350,000 army, 52,000 Air Force and 18,000 navy personel. if it would be 23,600 it wouldn't make 545 but 550,600. So change it unless you have a source, in that casr I'll change everyting where it sais 545,000. The Honorable Kermanshahi 16:28, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You really don't get it doe you. Your information is wrong! I'll be contacting the Military and History project to stop you changing it the whole time. The Honorable Kermanshahi 18:06, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah there you got the explenation. I spoke to a leader of the project and the 3,000 marines are included in the 18,000 and those pilots are from the air force. The Honorable Kermanshahi 21:11, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Nahang 1 Submarine.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Nahang 1 Submarine.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:21, 9 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Garion96 (talk) 14:21, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Persian kings categories[edit]

Please don't re-add parent categories to the Ancient Persian kings. The subcategories are already linked to the larger categories. Putting all these sub-categorized articles directly into the larger categories makes the larger categories extremely long and unnavigable. Thanks. Your edits[edit]

Dear vatoo Vatoo. I think very positive about your edits in general. Your contributions to the Iranian articles are valuable. I only have a problem with your addition of Tabriz written as those in the republic of Azerbaijan on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabriz. The azerbaijani language in Iran does not use that alphabet. And since Tabriz is an Iranian Azerbaijani city, the usage of that word a la Baku is not relevant. The additition of tabriz according to their orthography only encourages the irredentists (separatists, Panturkists etc...) elements.--Babakexorramdin (talk) 16:05, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please update your status with WP:VG[edit]

Dear WikiProject Video games member,

You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in recent months.

The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.

All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:

Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

You should come hang out with us on the internetz![edit]

Hi! I wanted to let you know that we have created an IRC channel for "countering systemic bias one new editor at a time", aka closing the gender gap! Come hang out at #wikimedia-gendergap if that subject interests you. We hope this channel can serve as a safe haven to hang out, talk about Wiki, brainstorming, increasing women's participation in Wikimedia, article alerts and foster friendships. I hope you join us! (And if you need any IRC help, just let me know!) See you there! SarahStierch (talk) 22:27, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:53, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
