Vandalism[edit]

Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia; it is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you.

Your recent vandalism of the Juan Martin page did not go unnoticed. Neither did your removal of my previous warning from your talk page. Yandman 15:32, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is a verifiable source - i will change it back. stop vandalising the article please. The quoted source is a modern flamenco historian and regarded as the leading expert on flamenco. Please do your research before vandalising the article with nonsense revertions. I am enhancing the article -you are simply reverting back to text copied from 1 website.Ukbn2 17:03, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Ukbn2 18:26, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Juan Martín[edit]

That it's out of print doesn't make it any less of a reference source, it just makes it difficult to verify. What is important, though, is that there is more than one point of view on what his nationality is, and Wikipedia must remain neutral regarding disputes of fact. Therefore, as I wrote on the Talk page of Juan Martín, Wikipedia cannot pick-and-choose which reference to state as fact and which to state as allegation. Instead, we must present both as points of view and take a neutral attitude toward both.

Practically, this means that the article cannot say that he was born in England or in Spain, but must say that he says that he was born in Spain and that Don E Pohren says that he was not born in Spain. — Saxifrage 20:43, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If the article says he was born in England, this would be against the advice of WP:LIBEL and WP:BLP. There is no evidence that Don Pohren claimed he was born in England, beyond the word of a user who already has lied. Addhoc 09:01, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

addhoc - you are now hurling allegations of lying against a fellow wikipedia user. The information i am providing is 100% true. In the UK we have Libel laws, which i am very aware of,and i could be sued for the information i am providing were it untrue. Likewise you could leave yourself open to legal action for calling people liars. Please refrain from such abusive language. I have documented evidence from reknowned, respected and indeed the only non Spanish "flamencologist" ever inducted into "Catedra de Flamencologia." after 45 years of writing. I will cite from the book itself - the page number etc, then you can tahe the matter up with d e pohren and perhaps call him a liar as well. Seconfdly,it does not say at all on Juan Martins website that he is spanish born. It says Native. I am Native of sussex and scotland in genetic terms, i , again i am providing factual and documented information to back up what is common knowledge. When this is provided, you seem to want to debunk it straight away because it comes from me - why are you doing this - why not research Juan Martin and put some information into the article regarding his playing style for instance, considering you havre such in depth knowledge, perhaps document his rasgeado technique compared to that of Montoya maybe? - that is what wiki is about.Ukbn2 09:28, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

According to wiktionary native is derived from the latin natus, which means birth and is defined as "belonging to one by birth". Addhoc 16:06, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Hello, Ukbn2, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

In the recent case where you removed a citation required tag, the material you have introduced could be removed, unless of course you provide a citation. Addhoc 17:22, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

you make me laugh! "la feria" means "the fair" are you seriously suggesting that this is not citable either? Ukbn2 17:36, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Verifiability[edit]

I'm not sure if the approach you outlined is the right one because it's not clear what you were going to be seeking from these flamenco guitarists and experts. If it's only their personal testimony, that isn't admissible at Wikipedia. (It would be fine for a piece of original research, but Wikipedia doesn't publish any new, previously-unpublished research.) If your goal is to get them to point you to good written sources that have discussed Martin's place of birth, than such sources would be perfect for including as references in the article. — Saxifrage 22:30, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes i wont publish opinons, submit etc. I do have documented evidence in a few spanish books written by andalucian experts. and of course d r pohren, who will cite hopefully.

I appreciate your guidance.Ukbn2 22:33, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Brighton Tsunami Photo[edit]

Hi and thanks for your message. It's not a slight against your photo, it's just that it is not something longstanding and particular to Brighton. If that was a permanent erection like, say, the Royal Pavilion, then it could be argued that it deserves a photo. Gsd2000 23:45, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Brightonstadium.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Brightonstadium.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:01, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Civility Warning[edit]

It is important to keep a cool head, especially when responding to comments against you or your edits. Personal attacks and disruptive comments only escalate a situation; please keep calm and remember that action can be taken against other parties if necessary. Attacking another user back can only satisfy trolls or anger contributors and leads to general bad feeling. Please try to remain civil with your comments. Thanks! Juan again[edit]

It's not stalking because it involves the article. It's normal and reasonable that someone who's been working on an article will cast a critical eye on every change to it. (I do the same with Spore (video game) even though I've not made any major changes recently.) I do think, though, that there is an unusual amount of friction between the two of you. My best suggestion to cut off the interaction, and the only method under your control, is to go away from that article for a while (say, a few weeks or a month or so) and come back to it later. The article is unlikely to change much, if at all, in the time you're gone from it, and that would give time for the current heat to dissipate. I know this might not be a very attractive option. The alternative is to hope that Addhoc suddenly starts doing something differently that diffuses the conflict, and hoping that the outside world changes to suit us is generally a failing strategy. And, as I said, the article is unlikely to change in the interim. — Saxifrage 16:43, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok no probs- i seem to be making this mistake with quite a few pics. Ukbn2 20:07, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:MartinJuan.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MartinJuan.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Maltby article[edit]

Thanks for your comments on the Maltby article. Pictures with no accompanying text relating them to the article will always tend to get removed. The remedy is to add the image and the text at the same time! However, you should probably simply mention that Roche Abbey is near to Maltby and provide a wikilink to the current Wikipedia article on Roche Abbey which has pictures already. Roche Abbey doesn't really need its own photo on the Maltby page as it has its own page.

It wasn't me who added the text about the Catholic Club – the page history says it was from IP address 195.93.21.65 (talk · contribs · WHOIS). I always contribute via my registered username. -- MightyWarrior 14:27, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I've no idea whether the 'stute is closed or not, as I don't live in Maltby. My searches on the internet were inconclusive. Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages :-) MightyWarrior 00:10, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

KISS platinum tickets[edit]

Do you have a source for this info? A website address would be best. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 14:44, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • The more sources the better. I'm trying to get the Kiss article up to Featured status, so any additions like the one you made will have to have a verifiable source. I had not heard of the platinum package, since I am not interested in seeing the group without Ace at this point. Thanks! --cholmes75 (chit chat) 18:40, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re-adding incorrect information[edit]

Being a pioneer...and actually being part of the sub-genre are 2 different things. The NWOBHM movement started in 1979-80. Judas Priest began as a group in 1969-70...ten years earlier. And had recorded 6 studio albums and 1 live album before anyone knew what NWOBHM was. Wikipedia cannot be used as a reference for itself. Especially for incorrect information. Do not re-insert incorrect information into any articles without a valid source. Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 18:48, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rock music Wikiproject invitation[edit]

Hello WikiProject Metal member.
WikiProject Metal music is important in expanding encyclopedic coverage of the metal. It brings attention to the lesser-known bands, and significantly improves the quality of the famous ones. Five Featured articles and two formers is proof of that.
This is the stuff I wish to achieve with the somewhat recently resurrected WikiProject Rock music. I hope to also attract attention to rock music articles of all sorts, and hopefully change some to GA or FA status. I invite you to come join us, and embrace the links between metal and rock music in general.
Rock on.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Sabbatpic.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sabbatpic.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 08:54, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
