Hi. Bristol certainly has a thriving music scene, although I wasn't living here 30 years ago. Anyway, regarding Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Simon Leach (musician), the issue is the notability of the individual musician. WP:MUSICBIO states a number of criteria. I've done a quick online search, and while the band Little Birdy seems to be notable, that doesn't necessarily mean that related musicians are (see WP:NOTINHERITED). If there are further reliable independent sources discussing Simon Leach, they could help a lot. And no, I'm not the only helpful person around here by any means! You can also discuss this specific case at the Teahouse and/or ask for comments from participants at WP:WPMU. If notability isn't established for a separate article, short sections within the Little Birdy article could be an appropriate place to include some content on the musicians. And whatever the outcome is, I expect you'll agree there are plenty of other articles to work on. • Teahouse pilot wraps up after 13 weeks After being piloted on English Wikipedia starting in February, the Teahouse wrapped up its pilot period on May 27, 2012. We expect this is just the beginning for the Teahouse and hope the project will continue to grow in the months to come!

• What you've all been waiting for: Teahouse Pilot Report is released! We look forward to your feedback on the methodology and outcomes of this pilot project.
• ....and if a pilot report wasn't enough, the Teahouse Pilot Metrics Report is out too! Dive into the numbers and survey results to learn about the impact the Teahouse has made on English Wikipedia.
• Teahouse shows positive impact on new editor retention and engagement

• 409 new editors participated during the entire pilot period, with about 40 new editors participating in the Teahouse per week.
• Two weeks after participating, 33% of Teahouse guests are still active on Wikipedia, as opposed to 11% of a similar control group.
• New editors who participated in the Teahouse edit 10x the number of articles, make 7x more global edits, and 2x as much of their content survives on Wikipedia compared to the control group.

• Women participate in the Teahouse 28% of Teahouse participants were women, up from 9% of editors on Wikipedia in general, good news for this project which aimed to have impact on the gender gap too - but still lots to be done here!

Isobel Waller-Bridge

Dear Trevj, thank you for your edits to Isobel Waller-Bridge's page. My reason for starting the page was simply that i find her work interesting. I thought it would be good to put the agents website up there as proof of her work and as a way for people to learn more. I didn't think there would be such a problem with this girls page! Can you solve this paradox please?

Though I got some support here, I still believe it is not an easy decision, since even Governments are confused. In air ticket they write one spelling but in airport entrance they have second spelling. PMWA name change

Why was the title of this article changed from Progressive Mine Workers of America to Progressive Miners of America? As one can see from the reference titles, Progressive Mine Workers of America is the official name of the organization. Just as the United Mine Workers of America is known as the UMWA, the Progressive Mine Workers of America is known as the PMWA. I have never heard it referred lot as the Progressive Miners of America. So I don't see how that can be a common name for the PMWA. I now have in my personal collection a small pamphlet titled "Constitution of District No. 1 Progressive Mine Workers of America" (District No.1 covered Illinois). Article I, Name and Objects, Section 1, reads: "This organization shall be known as District No. 1 of the Progressive Mine Workers of America." I think anyone looking for information on the organization would look for Progressive Mine Workers of America. Please make an argument for your change, or I will request the change be reversed. TestDisk / PhotoRec and Conflict of Interest label

Hi Trevj, I'm not sure about the motivation for adding a Conflict of Interest label to the TestDisk / PhotoRec articles. It is probably true that program author Chris Grenier contributed a lot of the material in the articles, but these programs — particularly TestDisk — are really priceless gems in my experience. The author very generously helps users and answers user questions but doesn't require any payment. Test Disk is on virtually all of the Linux "System Rescue" disks, so it is widely respected, and it can understand a huge variety of different disk formats including old and new Windows and Apple disk formats. I was very very lucky to discover TestDisk on Wikipedia, and tried it as a last resort on a Windows XP / Vista / Linux triple boot system that had become unbootable as a result of my shrinking the Vista partition. I found it simply awesome, and would echo the comments of this user. The optional shareware fees that the author gets from these programs are surely small compensation for his dedication in creating and continuing to support them. This is not a case of somebody trying to promote their own high-profit commercial product and/or sell or promote something that is of little real value, so I would think it only fair to remove the "self-interest" label in this case. Hi and thanks for the note. I'm not saying that the edits by Cgrenier aren't neutral or encyclopedic. As I understand it, the {{connected contributor}} tag exists to aid transparency and is suggested at WP:COI. The declaration at fr:Utilisateur:Cgrenier is commendable. I used the software myself to help my parents over the weekend (if they're happy with the results, I believe the may make a small dontation to contribute to hosting fees). The warning label on the articles can only suggest to people that there *is* a conflict of interest — that the article is primarily there to make money for the author — or that it *does not* represent a Neutral Point of View. Since neither of these applies, and it is not an autobiography, I think that the warning labels are not fair and should be removed. If they are not removed then surely a heavy-handed editor with little experience of the field is going to come along and try to have them speedily deleted again. The COI itself is undisputed: Christophe has a conflict of interest. Fortunately, it doesn't appear to negatively affect his editing. Regarding "heavy-handed" editors, those trawling through everything in Category:Connected contributors would of course come across this article, among others. They may then investigate whether such articles need cleaning up (either doing so if needed, or tagging the article pages themselves). Any deletion nomination should be based on notability, which appears not to be an issue for these articles. If you feel that strongly about this, then I guess it should be discussed elsewhere (possibly Template talk:Connected contributor) so that more editors can get involved. Tags on Wikipedia are surely meant to be used to indicate real problems. If there are no problems then surely flagging it feels insulting to such a dedicated contributor to the public domain. As it says quite clearly on his talk page, these programs are contributed under a GNU General Public License, which is like the CC licenses used on Wikipedia. Why not flag everybody's Wikipedia contributions as questionable, whether they are or not? That warning template has already been nominated for deletion, for obvious reasons as discussed here. I think that paid advocacy is a related issue. It's problematic if someone is *making a lot of money out of Wikipedia* (and creating problems for other editors to waste time finding and reverting) by *promoting a grossly non-neutral POV* on Wikipedia. But it's surely not problematic if it's a fair, balanced, and reasonably-neutral POV. LittleBen (talk) 00:36, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks very much for the message here. Regarding the PGCE, unfortunately I wasn't actually awarded the bit of paper. However, I'd already done some teaching before, and (as you'll no doubt appreciate) just following the course and completing the teaching practices imparts a great deal of useful knowledge.

I took a couple of photos yesterday and will upload them to Geograph and then copy across to Commons for use in the article.

1. They're not wonderful because it's not easy to find good vantage points without entering the school grounds. And I didn't want to look too conspicuous, for fear of someone reporting me for taking photos around a place where there could be children!
2. Weather was overcast too.
3. When they're (finally) in place, see what you think - improved photos could probably be taken at an event open to the public, e.g. a spring fair or similar.
