Welcome![edit]

Hi, Tomdog, and Welcome to Wikipedia!

Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy the encyclopedia and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read the simplified ruleset. There are thousands of ways to get help on Wikipedia. I personally recommend the Wikipedia:Boot Camp, where in addition to standard posts, you can use an IRC to chat online with fellow Wikipedians willing to help! In addition, Wikipedia also has pages dedicated to the use of Wikipedia, for example, if you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting pages visit the manual of style. Feel free to post questions on my talk page - I'm happy to help you with anything you need.

Photo captions[edit]

Uh, well - let's put it this way, I'm not about to go back and change all the captions I've added so far but I will stop adding my name to captions although I hardly see how that is fair. Getting images into these posts helps legitimize them and makes them far more interesting than without photos and I've contributed many exclusive photographs from many exclusive events. You will never get these kinds of high-quality photos from Getty Images or any of the wire services but you've been getting them from me, for free, and accurately described and identified with the required background information. For many of these posts, my photographs are the true confirmation that Wikipedia's users have found the person they are looking for about and that's a huge value to Wikipedia - a value I deserve credit for.

Photo captions[edit]

Thank you for the contribution of photographs you have taken. However, please see WP:Captions#Credit. We do not routinely include photo credits on article pages unless the photographer is notable. Could I please ask you to remove the credits you have added? Thank you. Wildhartlivie (talk) 05:43, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for not adding more credits. The credits are, or should be given, at the image file page. I have gone through and removed the credits. Also, please notice that we don't use the qualifiers "th" or "nd" with dates, just post them as March 15, 2010. Thank you. Wildhartlivie (talk) 07:01, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
