September 2012[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one of your recent edits has been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

The recent edit you made to Michael Jackson has been reverted, as it removed all content from the page without explanation. Please do not do this, as it is considered vandalism; use the sandbox for testing. If you think the page should be deleted, see here for what to do. Thank you. Mdann52 (talk) 19:22, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abuse of editing privileges. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here Please give me a second chance. I want to edit in a responsible, more productive wayTinyTemper (talk) 15:10, 15 September 2012 (UTC);}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. – Connormah (talk) 19:37, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I want to edit in a responsible way and this ban has made me think about the editing I did. I want to be a better person on wikipedia=I would like to appeal the ban on editing pages. I deleted huge sections of michael Jackson's page because I was in a silly mood. I normally edit articles in a responsible way, like I edited fictional characters in soaps. This is one off and I am very sorry and I know this caused unnessesery hassle. I will never do this again. I have learnt the rules, including knowing that what I did was wrong. I just want to be a normal editor again like I was before, and I can make useful edits to other pages and I would hugely appreciate if you unblock me. Please reply to this, because I want to know if I can be unblocked or not. Thanks, TinyTemperTinyTemper (talk) 14:16, 15 September 2012 (UTC) Also, this account is not compromised, it has been me, the owner of TinyTemper. No one knows the password of my account, except me.TinyTemper (talk) 08:08, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

It does seem to be true that until recently your editing was mostly reasonable. However, it is a total misrepresentation to suggest that removing content from Michael Jackson is the only recent editing which has been unconstructive, and I am not convince that we can trust an editor who not only vandalises Wikipedia articles, but also, when claiming to be contrite and requesting an unblock request, is not totally forthcoming about his or her editing. JamesBWatson (talk) 20:59, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I'm open to this as the account looked to be compromised, and there is evidence of constructive editing in the past. I only went indef to make sure that the account wouldn't resume the vandalism in the event of an expiry. – Connormah (talk) 19:56, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hang on, let us be clear on this. Are you saying the account is compromised? Because if so it can not be unblocked ever. As you know.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:38, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have no knowledge on whether it was or is compromised. From the unblock request it doesn't look like that was the case. However this account looks to have productive edits, and if they are willing to edit productively again, I have no problem unblocking. – Connormah (talk) 22:52, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I will edit more productively again, and I promise I will if you unblock me (TinyTemper)TinyTemper (talk) 07:54, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This account is not compromised. I, The owner of TinyTemper made all the edits on the pages.TinyTemper (talk) 08:04, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I did not claim that this account was compromised: I was querying a comment above from Connormah suggesting the possibility. In the subsequent edit from this editor, posted after mine, the suggestion is retracted. I agree that there is therefore no apparent reason to suppose that the account is compromised, which allows the possibility of unblock if the community is assured that there will be no more vandalism created.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 19:17, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please be more careful[edit]

Altering discussions on talk pages is strongly discouraged. A user is allowed certain blanking privileges on their own talk pages, but changing a discussion regarding one's sactions is a bad idea. Please leave these discussions intact until the situation is resolved. Tiderolls 17:08, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I will agree to do mentorship with Connormah please get back to me

Hi, TinyTemper,

'twas I who welcomed you just over a week ago. At that time, I saw constructive edits in your contribs. I hoped you would soon become a regular and valued contributor to Wikipedia. I am pleased that you admitted mistakes.

I was going to suggest rehab' but that program is inactive. I suggest Voluntary Mentorship and a probationary period to be negotiated between you and Connormah. Experienced mentors are preferred but two who helped me are currently busy and not accepting new protégés. Perhaps one of the admin's knows of a mentor willing to take you on. If not, I volunteer to help you become a Wikipedian.

If you agree to a voluntary mentorship with me as mentor, you must agree to the following:

  1. Refrain from any disruptive editing of any kind. Your contribs will be monitored for the probationary period.
  2. Edit only when signed in to your user account.
    1. No IP editing (editing when not signed in).
    2. No other attempt to circumvent restrictions (for example, by creating a sockpuppet account).
  3. Work through the first six adoptee lessons created by Veteran Editor WormTT.
  4. Work through the first three adoption tasks created by Editor Pluma.
  5. After completing those lessons, find and properly revert three edits that are or appear to be vandalism, leaving a suitable notice as was left for you above by Mdann52. For this task, you may not use automated tools used by counter vandalism unit members.
  6. Create an article in your sandbox. It can either be an article that you will want to move to mainspace or just a practice article to show some skill in wiki markup.
  7. Create an archive for your talk page so all this is moved out of sight.
  8. As a final test, participate productively in five areas of Wikipedia. Read, understand and follow the guidelines for:

Doing the tasks above is neither horrible nor difficult. Many of us asked to be mentored or worked through lessons and tasks just to learn about Wikipedia. You can zip through the lessons and tasks in about an hour each but you may find that you want to spend more time once you learn a new skill. The bots are pretty good and darn fast at finding and automatically reverting vandalism. It may take two hours to find vandalism to revert. I will be available at least once a day to answer any questions and to help in any way needed. This is your chance. If I become your mentor, I will not become your best friend and I won't defend you if you don't live up to your agreement.

If you agree to mentoring in order to continue editing Wikipedia, indicate your agreement below and begin negotiating with Connormah about the length of your probation.

Looks like DocWatson was declining your unblock request at the same time I made this proposal. Yes, everyone saw your YouTube stuff added to Wikipedia and Football and Michael Jackson before you blanked Michael Jackson and earned a block. I noted that all the vandalism took place within one hour. Did you think that you were blocked only because of the page blanking? That was just the last straw that broke the camel's back. Marking disruptive edits as minor and adding untrue edit summaries like "brief edit of a typo" compounded the problem, another reason for DocWatson to be skeptical of your sincerity. The blanking by itself would likely have resulted in a 24 hour block with a stern warning about any future disruptive editing.
The reason you are blocked is to prevent disruption to Wikipedia. It was made indefinite because admins are busy; they don't have the time to deal with multiple disruptive edits one at a time. You need to briefly explain why you only mentioned the Michael Jackson blanking in the first request to be unblocked. Do so in a new unblock request: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here}}. State that you will not intentionally disrupt Wikipedia again.
Once I see your new request (and we can even discuss wording here, if you want to do so), I will send a request to all of the involved administrators to request their comments and reach a consensus on whether your block should be lifted and how soon (since you can't contact them yourself). So far, you were blocked by one administrator, the block was upheld by another and a third ensured that relevant discussion wasn't removed. Admin's don't undo actions by other admins without reaching a consensus on what is best for Wikipedia.
I am reasonably sure that you will be given another chance. You may have to await an admin who states that s/he has the time to watch over your edits until you show that you are again trustworthy. They might agree to my proposal above if you also agree. Then ensuring that your edits are productive would become my responsibility; if I see even one, I would have to report it and an indefinite block would probably be the result. It is one possible way that you might be able to resume editing soon.
Let me know how you feel about my proposal and what you would like to do from here. Take care, DocTree (ʞlɐʇ · cont) Join WER 23:06, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Clarify[edit]

My previous post was an attempt at an assumption of good faith. Let me make this clear; do not alter the discussions that pertain to your block while your block is in force. Please ask for help if you do not understand. Tiderolls 00:12, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

TinyTemper, please stop Stop! Don't make things worse because of a misunderstanding.
  1. Writing "I agree to do mentorship with Connormah please get back to me" isn't adequate. You can't delete the block or change it by agreeing to mentorship. Admins need to agree and unblock you. Your statement wasn't seen because it wasn't at the bottom of your talk pageand you forgot to sign with four tildes (~~~~).
  2. Reuqest again. Copy the template { {{unblock | reason=your reason here ~~~~}} ) and paste it below here. Delete "your reason here" and type in your reasons in the template. Explain briefly why you admitted only to the blanking and not the YouTube stuff. You thought blanking was the only reason you were blocked? You hoped nobody noticed the YouTube stuff? Your first request was OK except for that. You might add, "I accept mentorship and a probation" or something similar in your own words.
I'll contact admin's for input. Most likely, a different, uninvolved admin will unblock and set any conditions. Take care, DocTree (ʞlɐʇ · cont) Join WER 14:46, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
