Speedy deletion nomination of The Lion Shares[edit]

Hello Thelionshares,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged The Lion Shares for deletion, because it seems to be an promotion, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Pjposullivan (talk) 09:59, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your article[edit]

Sorry to have deleted it, but I feel you may be misunderstanding the purpose of Wikipedia. This is an encyclopaedia, not a directory or social media, or a place for promoting things. We record things considered of note - in other words, the arrived (and the past it...). The only just setting off and the up and coming aren't recorded here. I would encourage you to make the most use you can of the social media to get your book known, and would also suggest that you try to get it published by a regular publisher. The profit margins are lower, but the sales can be vastly more (and the effort of publicising very less). I very often suggest this to people who have been caught by self-publishing. It looks so attractive until you realise that self-publishing also means self-publicising and all that is entailed in that. I would advise that very few self-published books or authors get articles here. This is because they don't achieve the note that regular publishing can (but doesn't always) give. I do wish you luck, but please don't try to use us for advertising. Use all the other places that don't mind it - you're more likely to be noticed in them.
