I created this page because I met the name of Jean-Marc Ferry as a red link. I am used to write pon Wp but I am not used to write in English. Please, don't delete this article, it is really a great French Philosopher whot is teaching at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and a famous author. Please let me know your opinion now that I just changed some details on the page. I am not able to correct the grammar. Sincerely, José Fontaine (talk) 20:40, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I understand you. I wrote some sources. Thank you for your response. José Fontaine (talk) 21:51, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

You propose to me I can help with cleaning that up for Jean-Marc Ferry. But I would be happier if you would help me with Wallonia. It is my country and I think taht it worth to be kown even if it is a little country, a little self-governed state. If it is possible, if you have the time. With kind regards, José Fontaine (talk) 15:28, 4 October 2008 (UTC) Only the section Geography: an administrator asked to me to develop this special aspect of the topic. Thank you if it is possible José Fontaine (talk) 15:31, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi Terrillja! You are nice!!! What I am trying to say? I repeat the sentence: The German army could not go across the river in 1944 as this army did it, just at the same place, a little to the south of Dinant in Houx (Wallonia) and in the neighbourhood of Dinant named Leffe (as the Abbey beer linked to this abbey in this neighbourhood) in May 1940 (as well as in Sedan).

This sentence is too long and incomprehensible (that would be also the case in French!!!). I try to explain it.
1) In 1940, the German army was going across the Meuse River at this place: in Leffe (a neighbourhood of Dinant which is linked to the Abbey of Leffe and the Abbey is linked to the beer etc.), and in Houx (Wallonia), a little village not far from Dinant in the direction of Namur or of the North. The German army goes across Meuse also in Sedan in France (in the South, 200 kilometers far from Dinant). [But the first places of the final victory of the Germans were here in Dinant, Leffe and Houx, in Sedan also: it is not important to say it explicitly but it is suggested. As it is suggested that it would have been possible in december 1944]. Incidentally, during the World War I , Dinant was also a very important point of the plans of the German army (in 1914, the German army wanted to reach Paris, but it failed, the battle of Dinant revealed a little the German plan).
2) In 1944, the German army was not able to go across the river as this army was able to do it four years ago.
You are absolutely right. This sentence was not comprehensible. What I want also to say (to suggest...) or to do is that : to make a comparison between the events of may 1940 and the events of december 1944. In order to emphasize (illustrate, underline...) the historical importance of this part of Wallonia. In order also to make the geography of Wallonia comprehensible, significant for American or English readers. If it is possible... Incidentally also, I have no hate in my heart against the Germans but it is in order to explain the geography.

Thank you to you absolutely. And I begg your pardon for my bad English. Kind regards, José Fontaine (talk) 18:38, 4 October 2008 (UTC) PS: I f I am not clear, I will try again (If you don't success at first, try and try again).

Propsed deletion of Water and life

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Water and life, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! Self-imposed timeout

I'm in a self-imposed timeout. I took advantage of twinkle and got a little revert crazy when I should have just gone in and edited. So I'm going to take 24 hrs to sit and realize how easy it is to go crazy with twinkle. Maybe I'll even read a book.--Terrillja (talk) 06:16, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for your action at Religulous and your warning to Keepscases (talk · contribs) - but in this case I think a more specific warning would have been appropriate, instead of a templated warning. (See the subsection above the warning on the user's talk page.) Cirt (talk) 17:04, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

If you look at the end of the warning, I added a message about how edits against consensus is vandalism. I wanted to start with a light warning, if the user reverts again, a stronger warning will be justified. I'm trying to give the user the benefit of doubt first.--Terrillja (talk) 17:15, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Your edit restored unsourced information to an article

[1] - Please self revert, or add a secondary WP:RS/WP:V source to back up this assertion. Thanks. Cirt (talk) 22:54, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. Your syntax is strange, however. Please note this is not about "satisfying" me, but instead satisfying WP:RS/WP:V. That source seems satisfactory. Cirt (talk) 23:18, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

New pages

Usually, I'm just out trawling for complete junk in the new pages. As such I don't carefully review the other pages that look plausible, thus I don't mark them as patrolled. And unfortunately, after editing a page for tags, tagging patrolled requires a full refresh so that's why I don't always tag patrolled. Andante1980 (talk) 09:58, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Darkshark on Talk:MacBook

He attempted to restart the discussion once more and began arguing again. I reverted his changes and warned him that if he continues, they will be marked as vandalism. I told him the discussion is closed and there doesn't need to be any more arguing. --(GameShowKid)--(talk)--(evidence)-- 04:51, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Yep, I was about to post on an admin's talkpage, if he tries to reopen the discussion, I will report to AIV, the consensus seems pretty well established and I don't see how anyone will add anything worthwhile if the discussion continues. --Terrillja (talk) 04:53, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
After a personal attack on my talk page, I've reported him. I've had enough of this guy. --(GameShowKid)--(talk)--(evidence)-- 05:04, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Seems fair enough. Sometimes people don't know when to just walk away, and the user was making personal attacks throughout the discussion, so I believe a block is warranted.--Terrillja (talk) 05:14, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Mac Book II

I was not aware that adhering to the policies of WP:Dispute resolution constitutade a battle. Part of any good dipute resolution is to dicuss it with the other party. Without discussion, wikipedia would not be able to function properly. Everything was civil, so why do you suggest that I was not acting in accordance to wikipedia policies? Thank you and I await your reply. Happy editing.--Jojhutton (talk) 11:54, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

It was quite obvious from the start that you and darkshark disagreed about the spelling, and that neither one of you was willing to step down from your belief, understandably. However, by continually arguing, it just sidetracked the discussion and prevented consensus from being easily reached, as you repeated the same argument over and over. Yes, Apple is a US company, but repeating to look at the MOS over and over served no purpose other than to inflame the argument even more. You had made your point, continuing to repeat your argument served no purpose. By no means was it just you who was arguing, darkshark was just as much at fault, and I posted on both of your talkpages asking you to both let it go. I did not single you out for any reason. I realize that you were trying to resolve the dispute, but sometimes it is better to just step back and let other editors have their say rather than continue to fight. Once consensus had been reached, I closed the discussion so that hopefully it won't come up again. In the future, even if you disagree with what other editors say, it might just be easier to say your piece and let it go. Either way, happy editing. --Terrillja (talk) 14:56, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Don't warn

The last info that I added was verified!

Apple has started seeding the new beta of OSX10.6! Why did you delete it? I quoted it! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.216.146.23 (talk) 22:35, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

It was probably removed because A) Your source was from macrumors.com. Therefore, it is a rumor. B) Snow Leopard is not 10.5.6. That's just stupid. No major release has ever been had a revision number. C) You have no reliable sources to back up Point B. D) MacRumors.com is not a reliable source. Try TUAW.com. --(GameShowKid)--(talk)--(evidence)-- 22:45, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for trying to set the user straight. Apparently once they realized that they were wrong they decided they'd take it out on me, the first vandalism of my userpage! How it made sense to them to post about 10.5.6 on an article called 10.6 is beyond me. Oh well. See you around the Apple articles. --Terrillja (talk) 04:51, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
You had a reference to show that Apple was seeding 10.5.6 which is Leopard. Direct quote from AppleInsider: "Apple this week began testing Mac OS X 10.5.6, the next in a running series of updates planned for the Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system, which could prove to be the most extensive yet." Leopard, not Snow Leopard. The seed has nothing to do with OS 10.6 "Snow Leopard", so I removed it because it did not have to do with the article. Either way, its inclusion in Wikipedia is questionable, since it is a rumor. Once the finished update is actually released, then it can be included in the 10.5 article. See Mac_OS_X_v10.5#Version_history. --Terrillja (talk) 22:48, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Hey

Just thought I'd say hi. We seem to be patrolling new pages a lot of the time. Cool! --Clubmarx (talk) 04:37, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

We seem to be going across the same areas. I was the one who reverted the first vandalism on your userpage. Incidentally, I just had the first vandalism on my userpage yesterday. Surprised it took so long, people get pretty touchy when you tag their article on random junk as such. The one who vandalized my page apparently didn't understand the naming of apple OSes and got mad when I corrected them. Oh well. I'm sure I'll be tagging away on the same articles as you in the future. --Terrillja (talk) 04:45, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Well 'congrats' on your first vandalism. And thanks for reverting my user page. Much appreciated! --Clubmarx (talk) 04:55, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

MacRuby

thanks...I'm trying. ;-D —Preceding unsigned comment added by KKong (talkcontribs) 07:33, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

No problem, I'll keep an eye on it and try to help you out where I can. I can help with the formatting, but as for the more technical info on the subject itself, I'm a bit out of my league. I've taken a year of Java as well as a few web development and DB classes, but have never dealt with Ruby. --Terrillja (talk) 07:37, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
OK..well, I did pare it down quite a bit. And, as I said..I created that page because there wasn't one, not because I am an expert on MacRuby. In fact I never programmed in it yet. Still, I think this is a good start on a page. I will fill in where I can, as I learn, but also anticipate more informed people to contribute. The template(?) you put up says "You may remove this message if you improve the article or otherwise object to its deletion for any reason. " Does that mean I can remove it? And how about all those templates at the bottom of http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MacRuby&action=edit Sorry, I don't know how it all works, I have not created a page before. With due respect, all that deletion stuff just feels like a sword hanging over...and is not needed. I may have some formatting questions in the future. Thanks for your advice. KKong (talk) 08:32, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
I have removed the PROD. I would have been happy to have just left the article without one, but I can't say how many times I have had an editor earnestly tell me they will improve the article right away and then they do nothing. I have added the stub template as well as the expand template, which will hopefully spur users to expand it. I will also try to fix the citations for you, so they use the <ref></ref> tags rather than being set up as external links. --Terrillja (talk) 14:43, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Chester Music School

You may find that either the speedy deletion tag you placed on Chester Music School, or the copyright infringement tag, or both have been placed three times up to now, and in every case except this current one, the article was deleted. I'm not sure what should be done about this editor who seems to not be paying any attention to advidce about not immediately re-creating the article. See his talk page User talk:Peter bruce for more information:  DDStretch  (talk) 19:09, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

I have reported the user to WP:AIV. Hopefully they will get blocked and the page will be salted. --Terrillja (talk) 19:23, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Wait, you're and admin, so you can indef block for vandalism and salt the page. The precedent for this action has certainly been set already. --Terrillja (talk) 19:26, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Chinese history redirects

You're right, I've fixed it now. I was rushing through my work at User:The Transhumanist/Country list. The disambiguation page is now much better off, don't you think? --Patar knight - chat/contributions 19:13, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Yep, much better. I came across the redirects as new pages and saw how they bounced all over the place. Much better now. --Terrillja (talk) 19:15, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Freebiejeebies

Not sure you meant to, but you reverted my AfD on Freebiejeebies. I went to AfD because editor keeps removing the speedy tags. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 23:36, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Yep, I purposely reverted to my CSD template, because you are not allowed to remove CSD template from pages you created. You can dispute them using a hangon tag, but the procedure for a user who keeps deleting speedy deletion templates is to use the {{subst:uw-del}} templates, if they continue, it's vandalism and they get blocked. --Terrillja (talk) 23:43, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Beeswaxcandle didn't create the page. In any case, if someone keeps removing speedy tags from their own article, and someone else AFDs the article in between when you are reverting, it's usually best to just let the AFD run its course. 99.9% of the time, the AFD will be a snowball close, and then if the page is recreated, you can just G4 it. J.delanoygabsadds 02:41, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

You're allowed to remove warnings from your talk page.

I'm citing the comment below and reposting it's title to reiterate that removing tags from my own article is *not* vandlism. I've cited Swigger Vote in Wiktionary and seen it used in various blogs (which are *not* newsgroups) and will post more references but it is a term appearing in various places and isn't the first time I've heard of this. I don't understand why it should be deleted. Glc4mccain (talk) 02:32, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

You're allowed to remove tags from your own talkpage. You do not own the article or any article here. See WP:OWN. Either way, removing maintenance tags from an article is just as the warnings stated, it is considered vandalism. --Terrillja (talk) 02:34, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Citing Wiktionary is like citing Wikipedia, it's easy to cite it when you can make it say whatever you want. I Googled the term, and got 7 results. None of them met the criteria of WP:RS. It should be deleted because there is nothing else about it on the internet. If it fails to meet WP:GNG, then by wikipedia's rules, it should not be included here. I'm just working off of Wikipedia's guidelines. --Terrillja (talk) 02:40, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Removing maintenance tags without improving an article is iffy. Removing a PROD tag is perfectly acceptable. If someone contests a prod (i.e. removes your tag), and you still think the page should be deleted, you should take the page to AFD. J.delanoygabsadds 02:38, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Sure, if just the PROD that was removed, I'd understand, but it was the fact that the article had so many issues and all of the maintenance templates were removed, which is why I brought back the whole thing. If we wanted to let anyone remove the maint templates at will, then we wouldn't have all the uw-tdel templates. --Terrillja (talk) 02:49, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
I'm posting this here, rather than at the article since you're the editor who PROD'ed it. If this article has no sources, couldn't it be put up for CSD as a hoax? Or deleted as per WP:BLP, since the article asserts the term comes from McCain's camp, and it could be seen as an attack to tie them to a possibly racist term? It seems extremely fishy to me. Thanks in advance. Dayewalker (talk) 02:43, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Well I didn't really see it as a g3 deletion, but I figured I'd AGF and help the author out. I removed the sources which were not reliable, added a PROD with my concerns, and add the maint templates for what needed to be fixed. Either way, there were no sources which met the RS guidelines that I could find. --Terrillja (talk) 02:49, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
I took it out to AFD just to end the reverting. Glc4mccain doesn't have a lot of leeway since we are already beyond four reversions. So that won't continue anymore. TastyPoutine talk (if you dare) ] 02:52, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, I would have done it myself but I originally wanted to let the author try and improve the article. Either way, they need to go over some polices, such as ownership. Thanks for submitting the afd. --Terrillja (talk) 02:55, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

And now the user is removing maintenance tags again, they just removed the hoax tag. Can an admin say something? --Terrillja (talk) 02:59, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

I would submit to WP:AIV or WP:AN/3RR. TastyPoutine talk (if you dare) ] 03:06, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
I would but I don't want to be seen as trying to rile up the user and then get them blocked. You were the one who put up the 3rr which the user violated, so if you'd be willing, I think it would be appropriate from you. --Terrillja (talk) 03:09, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
The page has been deleted. Dayewalker (talk) 03:22, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
...And now it's recreated. And now it's redeleted, and he's been blocked. Those kind of editors either wise up, or invariably tip their hand and draw the attention of an admin. Dayewalker (talk) 03:27, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Yep, Figured it was a matter of time. And I got vandalized on my talkpage as well! As J.delanoy has said, "If you are getting vandalized, it means you are doing something right". --Terrillja (talk) 03:30, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Joey's Sports Blog

Can you please provide some suggestions for the article so that it meets the standards of Wikipedia. I will be more than delighted to incorporate your suggestions into the article since most readers have the same questions as you do. It would be nice for you to help me out instead of simply say it is no good - delete. Leave the suggestions on my talk page or the talk page for the article. If you're not willing to help me than stop deleting the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jtsports92 (talkcontribs) 19:36, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

The problem is, you can't make something notable if it isn't. If I loved my small toe, I could think it was great, and it's always been there for me, but it still isn't notable. This is in no way an attack on you, however at this point, the blog does not meet the notability guidelines.--Terrillja (talk) 19:39, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Can you please provide a link to the Notability Guidelines of Wikipedia? This is no way an attack on you, but you do not have a purpose. You have no notability; thus, you should be deleted. This isn't how the world works, you can't get rid of something just because it isn't considered important by mainstream media or yourself. Jtsports92 (talk) 19:51, 26 Month 2008 (UTC)
I have added the welcome template to your talkpage, the links for notability, verifiability, and reliable sources are all under policies and guidelines. --Terrillja (talk) 19:55, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for providing the Welcome link. How do I redirect a search to the article?--Jtsports92 (talk) 20:04, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
If you could explain what exactly you are trying to do, I can try to help you. Do you mean make it so that when someone types in "Joey's Sports Blog" in the search box it goes to the article? If that is it, it already happens. If you mean how do you create redirects for misspellings, such as "joeys sports blog", I can tell you how to do it, but I would recommend that you wait until the AfD has run its course before creating any redirects. Hopefully this answers your question, if not, try to tell me exactly what you want to do, and I can try and make wikipedia do it. --Terrillja (talk) 20:08, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
That's what I mean - minor misspellings such as no caps or no apostrophe.--Jtsports92 (talk) 20:23, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
As Terrillja asked, please don't make any redirects to a page that's at AfD. If the page is kept, then it will deserve redirects. Dayewalker (talk) 20:29, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks...that IUPAC name? I'm a chemist and never heard of it, neither had Google, but I figured I'd pop the question. The user (well, IP address, may be more than one user) obviously has some chem expertise. Hope we get him/her on board. Thanks again, Freestyle-69 (talk) 06:10, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm not by any means a chemist, I'm in ochem now and we were doing IUPAC a few weeks ago. I had no clue how that name followed the naming conventions that I had learned. And zero google hits kind of supports my thought that it isn't the correct name. I haven't tagged as vandalism yet hoping to give them the benefit of doubt, but if they keep adding it with no explanation I will give a bit more stern warning about unreferenced additions. --Terrillja (talk) 06:14, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
May want to check over the user's edits, this one[2] on Sulfuric acid IUPAC name (dioxidanidodioxosulfur) seems a bit suspect, again no google hits--Terrillja (talk) 06:34, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Merging Swim jammer into jammers

I actually think the other way around. I think the content of the jammers article which currently gets redirected to the swimsuit article should be merged into swim jammer, and the combined article should perhaps be renamed jammers instead of swim jammer.Jammers are notable enough to have an their own article. I don't see why should they be stuck in the swimsuit article.Farine (talk) 06:24, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Ok, that's fine with me, I just saw the original page which didn't have much info and thought it would work better if the content was used to flesh out the swimsuit article, but if you want to flesh out the jammers article, go for it and remove my merge templates. --Terrillja (talk) 01:46, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Your request for rollback

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Happy editing! Alana Zimmer page

Alana Zimmer is a Canadian Model so can u plz not ask for me 2 delete her because she is quite a significant person

The article simply states a birthdate, no other info. The article will likely be deleted soon (if it hasn't been yet). I recommend that you recreate it, stating that she is a model, with at least a couple of sources showing that she is in fact a well known model (people like to call themselves models, so sources are needed). Check out WP:FIRST for some more info on creating an article. --Terrillja (talk) 01:47, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
