Okay, this is all very new. Trying to become a good "citizen" of the wiki world and still VERY rusty. My main quesiton is one of the users deleted the name of my company from an article. This user then deleted our own page. I don't understand why this was done nor do I know how to email him/her to ask.

Here's the quick response. As you read this, I'll be writing more, so refresh this page in a couple of minutes.

If you click on the name of the user who removed the company name, you'll be taken to their user page. At the top of the page, you'll see a tab labelled "discussion". If you click that, you'll be on the user talk page. Then click the tab with the "+" sign, and you can add a message to that user. —P^urpleRA^IN 20:41, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Here are some more details about your problem and about Wikipedia in general:

Wikipedia has a lot of policies regarding what is and is not acceptable in a Wikipedia article. If what you added was seen as self-promotion, it may have been removed for that reason. See Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Wikipedia is not a soapbox. Sometimes edit are also reverted in error. There is a lot of vandalism that happens to Wikipedia articles. Occasionally, someone will be reverting the vandalism and will accidentally revert a legitimate edit at the same time.

As mentioned above, you can contact the person who reverted your edit and ask the reason for it. Another option is to post a question on the discussion page for the article.

Gay marketing reverts

Hi, Target 10!

Actually, I wasn't involved in the removal of the link to your page. It looks as if it got lost in between your addition, the addition of some vandalism, and the revert to remove that vandalism. I suggest adding it back in, as it sounds like it's a good bit of info for the article.

As a side note, all I can find about the deletion of your article Target 10 is a reference in the deletion logs: "(no objection to proposed deletion)" - but I don't find the discussion anywhere. My guess is someone nominated it because Wikipedia is not advertising. That can be a tricky area, especially to try to write *about* a company, without sounding like advertising. My suggestion is related to my next point:

If you'd like to become involved in the LGBT WikiProject, we'd love to have you! Just visit that page, scroll down to "Participants", click the edit link next to the "Participants" header, and add your name. You might then want to click the "Discussion" tab at the top of the page and add your comments about what happened. If things go well, someone will volunteer to help you write the article so it doesn't come off sounding like advertising.

More Gay marketing reverts

In looking at the history page you mentioned, it seems there were reasons given for the reverts. The first time, the reason given was that Target 10 was not a gay-specific agency. The second time, Jeff Stryker stated he was reverting it because it had been previously removed.

Jeff Stryker is registered -- he just hasn't created a user page yet. If you want to talk with him, try User talk:JeffStryker. You could also try commenting on Talk:Gay marketing. If you want to re-add the company again, make sure you state a clear reason in you edit summary.

It might also be worth reading the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest policy. In general, Wikipedians are discouraged from making edits related to themselves or their companies.

Leaving messages on a talk page

Hello again! There are two ways to leave a message on a talk page. Look at the little tabs at the top of the page. If you're starting a new topic of discussion, click on the + (just to the right of edit this page), and it will create a new section for you (just like the "leave a new message" link on my talk page). If you're adding to a previous discussion, just use edit this page or click the edit link at the top of the appropriate section, and add your comments there.

The general convention is that when you add to a discussion, you indent your comments, so that it's easier to tell who said what, and which comments are distinct. You can indent by putting a colon (:) at the beginning of your text,

like this!

In the edit window, I typed

:like this!

and it indented the line.

You can indent two levels with two colons, three levels with 3 colons, etc.
