Nigel McGuinness

TJ, fyi, I have added Nigel's real name to his article. This is a case of blatant censorship by wikipedia, and I feel that admin FCYTravis dropped the ball on this. Heck, he even admits so on the talk page. If wikipedia is what it claims to be, this addition will stand. He's a public figure (by his choice of profession) and his name is easily found via searching the trademark search system. It's public knowledge, pure and simple. Wii Sports Editing

Please be more careful when you are blindly reverting pages you believe were "vandalized" such as you did here. If you'll notice, although the first 3 changes are indeed vandalism, the fourth was a legitimate addition that would otherwise have been lost had I not happened to catch it. Just because it was added by someone who didn't sign in and you don't believe people who don't sign in should be allowed to edit pages doesn't mean you should automatically remove any changes by anyone who has not signed in. If that were the case, wikipedia would not allow people who haven't signed in the ability to make changes. I trust you'll be more cautious in the future. Jaardon 12:48, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Wrestlemania 85.

Heh, I ran it through my digital timer on my player. It's 22.58 seconds. And There are two people. The ring announcer says 9 seconds but the guy doing the actual commentary clearly states the Formal time is 23 seconds. I have watched and listened a few times, clear as day light to me. Royal Rumble trivia

I didn't vandalize a thing. Royal Rumble debuts are NOT trivia. Look at the Wrestlemania, Summerslam and just about any other PPV article: there is no "this was the first WM for Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart or whoever" comments. Just because it's a big battle royal and it has multiple people and it changes from year to year doesn't mean it should be in the trivia or article at all. It's fancruft that should be on a wrestling wiki, not here. Did you even read my edit summary? It clearly explained it as well. You don't own the articles, and certainly don't decide that Royal Rumble is the exception to listing 1st match appearances for wrestlers. On-screen or even WWF/E debut is one thing, but RR debut is cruft. RobJ1981 05:16, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

I've posted a comment on the wrestling project talk page, so others can help out on this. It's simply cruft, other big events don't have mass debut lists. Royal Rumble is a battle royal of many different people each year, but mass lists are still cruft. RobJ1981 05:31, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

flagicons

I do remember you saying flagicons look better than superscripts. WP is not a beauty contest. I think 9:00 looks better than 9AM, both asthetically, and in the sense that I don't need to think AM/PM. WP is not an American elitism, and in fact the 24 hour system is the technical way to go. It won't kill you. Scepia 23:58, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

School shooting reply

Thanks for your concern to this article, as you are the first who has even cared. I only created the article for Samnang Kok, for I thought an article in his name was needed due to the seriousness and grief that this event has put the city of Tacoma through. I don't even go attend Foss High School and I didn't even know Samnang Kok, but I thought an article was needed. I never created the other articles to the other situations but rather only edited them to make them more accurate as I do not have the authority to delete them. I also do not agree that categories are needed, but I added them due to the fact that someone requested I made them to make the articles more reliable. It's hard for me to really know if other people in other places really care, for I do not live in other cities. All I know is that this city has been quite shaken up, which is why I created the article. Now I realize that nobody else in the nation really cares, which shows how extreme and even common school shootings have become. Shows how sick people really are. Thanks for showing your concern. Oh, and Futurama rules. :) --Jacrio 21:40, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Hardcore Heaven 1999.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Hardcore Heaven 1999.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BigDT 00:23, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Article controlling

As you have a history of doing so, I would appreciate it if you would stop the "article controlling". Warning users, or removing edits claiming they are vandalism is not very helpful, and you know that discussion on the talk page is not necessary for everything. This is not about just Rob, but I have seen much of your reverts/warnings through my watchlist. If you feel something is not needed, then do not revert. Either bring it up at the talk page, or contact the user in question, and address the issue. If the user agrees to your revertion, then you can remove it from the article. We're all working on this together, and one person commanding an article isn't what Wikipedia's all about. Thanks. Nishkid64 02:11, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

I disagree with your opinion on Duggan. The onscreen graphics when he comes to the ring say Hacksaw, as does his WWE profile and the article on the Turmoil match at WWE.com. Tazz20200 05:26, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Upcoming N64 Virtual Console Titles

There is no confirmation that these N64 titles are coming out for the Virtual Console in North America. The ESRB website does not place "Wii" under the platform, it simply says Nintendo. These could simply be the old N64 versions that have never been named properly, we don't know. TJ Spyke, I can't believe I need to tell you this, but Wikipedia works with reliable facts, no assumptions. I want more N64 VC titles, I don't care about the other systems since I can easily get and play them on my PC, but until we get confirmation that they are for the Wii, these N64 titles will stay removed.

CVG Infobox image sizes

Hello, a few weeks ago we discussed the 250px vs. 256px sizes of images in CVG infoboxes. As you'll recall, I demonstrated the problematic symmetry issues with using 250px. The following image summarizes the problem, once again: [3]

As I recall, we were in agreement that the images should stay at 256 so as to preserve the symmetry, that's why I'm a little confused about you reverting the Ocarina of Time image back to 250 :) Get back to me, thanks. --Ecksemmess 21:51, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the response. As we discussed at length before, this is an issue common to all browsers. Please take a look at this image: [4]. Do you see the problem with the image on the left? It's subtle, but the image on the right is clearly more symmetrical, and asymmetries drive me and many other people crazy :) Of course, if the 250px representation in my image is substantially different from the way 250px looks on your system, I'd love to see a screenshot of what you're seeing. --Ecksemmess 01:15, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

From/At

Something cannot take place "From" something else...

The word "From" is used when:

Example: crippled from birth

  • 2. Indicating a lower limit.

Example: tickets from £12 upwards

  • 3. Indicating repeated progression.

Example: trail from shop to shop

  • 4. Indicating movement out of.

Example: took a letter from the drawer

  • 5. Indicating distance away.

Example: 16 miles from Dover

  • 6. Indicating a viewpoint.

Example: can see the house from here

  • 7. Indicating separation; removal.

Example: took it away from her

  • 8. Indicating point of attachment.

Example: hanging from a nail

  • 9. Indicating exclusion.

Example: omitted from the sample

  • 10. Indicating source or origin.

Example: made from an old curtain

  • 11. Indicating change of condition.

Example: translate from French into English

Example: From being an intimate lover, he turned very hostile

  • 12. Indicating cause.

Example: ill from overwork

  • 13. Indicating deduction as a result of observation.

Example: see from her face she's angry

  • 14. Indicating distinction.

Example: tell one twin from the other

  • 15. Indicating prevention, protection, exemption, immunity, release, escape, etc.

Example: safe from harm

Example: excused from attending

Xevious on NES Virtual Console

Please stop removing Xevious on the NES Virtual Console list. This game's title page has been found on the Virtual Console server through FireFox. The fact that this exists on Nintendo's servers is proof enough that they are planning to release it in the near future, otherwise there is no purpose to having this.

Talk:Wii

Please, stop getting so territorial about Wii urine references. Let me phrase this in the nicest possible way... you don't own the article. You don't own Wikipedia. Please stop interupting out discussion, as that won't help anyone. Nothing in Wikipedia is set in stone. Thanks. Scepia 01:11, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

The only point is that we can discuss it until the Internet blows up, and no one can stop us. It is clearly not an issue with an obvious solution, as it's been questioned so many times. The fact that it's been brought up about 100 times shows that the article may be incorrect, and in any case is not representative of every viewpoint. You will get a lot more progress done on the issue if you bring your opinion in, but it just annoys and tires people if you tell them to stop discussing. If we can reach a compromise once and for all, it will be all over. If you continue to shoot down the discussions, they will keep coming back, and coming back every month. Scepia 01:16, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
If your tired of the issue, stay out of it. We should eventually reach a compromise, but we need to do a lot of discussion first. I for one am not tired about it, as I feel there is misinformation in the article. For something that takes 1 sentence, and has numerous reliable sources, why are you so opposed to it? Please, any real reasons besides "it's been discussed" or "it's kiddy" would be nice. Scepia 01:22, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Lighten up!

I've been watching the Wii talk page for the last few weeks and am very glad you're there helping keep track of things. However, you get awful serious sometimes. For example, in the Spammer section:

Shouldn't it have been moved to possible sequels? 59.167.63.205 21:37, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

You've gotta admit that did induce chuckling. The edit needed to be reverted, yes; but your response sounds like you're trying not to be amused. Maybe it's not such a good idea to encourage that editing behavior, but if you make it clear that such things will be reverted, it shouldn't cause a problem. And a couple times, when people tried updating the sales figures, you've replied with bored-sounding inflection – the kind of thing that may cause new Wikipedians to be too cautious about editing.

Just a tip. Keep up the good work!

Rafael García

Hello. Rafael García is a Mexican footballer who played in the World Cup last year [7] (Torres is his maternal surname, which is not usually included), so he's hardly obscure. There were many links about him that went into the wrestler page, so I fixed them. I also fixed the wrestler links so that they went through by the redirect of Super Calo, which I figured is how most wrestling fans would know him by. I believe that disambiguation is probably the best way to go but apparently you disagreed. Chanheigeorge 23:19, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

I agree that's the way to go. I've reverted the WCW World War 3 revert that TJ did. Just a little issue...

G'day TJ. Listen, on the TNA iMPACT! (video game) article I added a few sources to the confirmed roster section for A.J. Styles and Samoa Joe as well has moved an external link for the game release from the external links section into the info box at the top of the article.. You just recently reverted those changes. I'm just curious to know if you reverted because all three links were inappropriate or if just the info box one was. Thanks. Normy132 02:43, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Right now I am editing with the Wii Browser (my computer isn't working), so I can only edit small sections (which is why I can't reply there). I was just opposed to some of the other edits that had been made. If you can keep the table how it looks NOW while having the option of sorting them, I am all for it. Also, anytime someone wants to make a huge change they should discuss it first. TJ Spyke 08:36, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I like the sortable columns, it's just other things like yes and no being linked (what is the point of that?), useless coloring of the controller compatibility columns, and having a price section in the Future Release section (since prices are rarely known ahead of time). Help!

Hey TJ Spyke,

I just thought I'd ask you, since you're around here longer then me, I thought you might know. On October 11, 2006, SEGA announced a PSP game called After Burner: Black Falcon. I just got a note from some bot today, that the logo for that game, which I uploaded, wasn't being used and thus tagged for speedy deletion. This surprised me, most certainly because when I wanted to find out about it, I can't find the article After Burner: Black Falcon anywhere, while I'm sure it was there; I think I even created it myself.

Do you know how I can track it's existence and what has happened to it for which reason?

Thank you

WrestleMania 23

Could you please explain to me how Taker vs. Batista is a rumoured match. There is obvious build up, Michael Cole clearley said "The Undertaker is going to WrestleMania". Reply on talk page. Killswitch

Taker can switch to either ECW or RAW and fight their champion. I'm all for my own edit, simply saying 'Taker vs. TBA (whoever he decided to wrestle at WrestleMania. That is not rumored, that is confirmed, unless he pulls off a Rey Mysterio and loses his title shot in a match. --Raderick 04:34, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Let me quote a previous editor "Please, stop getting so territorial about Wii urine references. Let me phrase this in the nicest possible way... you don't own the article. You don't own Wikipedia. Please stop interupting out discussion, as that won't help anyone. Nothing in Wikipedia is set in stone."
