AfD Nomination: Queplix[edit]

An editor has nominated the article Queplix for deletion, under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the nomination (also see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on why the topic of the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome: participate in the discussion by editing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Queplix. Add four tildes like this ˜˜˜˜ to sign your comments. You can also edit the article Queplix during the discussion, but do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top of the article), this will not end the deletion debate. Your edit to Queplix[edit]

Regarding this edit:

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages. The notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of an article, and removing them is considered vandalism. If you oppose the deletion of an article, you may comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. Kavadi carrier 03:11, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there Steven. I got your email where you asked me for help on how to improve this article. If I'm to assume correctly that you work for Queplix, the best route is for you to not edit the article or to participate in it's deletion discussion as per our conflict of interest guidelines. That page says

If you have a conflict of interest, you should:

  1. avoid editing articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  2. avoid participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your corporation in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Bear in mind that this is a guideline and not policy, but it would certainly eliminate the question of bias. If you have any questions, feel free to reply here or on my talk page. Thanks! --Brad Beattie (talk) 01:45, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Queplix-logo-wiki.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Queplix-logo-wiki.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 18:00, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Queplix Universal Search Applaince (QUSA), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TNX-Man 21:03, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Queplix_Corp_Logo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Queplix_Corp_Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Queplix Corporation, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Queplix. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally moving or duplicating content, please be sure you have followed the procedure at Wikipedia:Splitting by acknowledging the duplication of material in edit summary to preserve attribution history.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Orphaned non-free image (File:Queplixlogo.jpg)[edit]

You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ZooFari 04:44, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Data Virtualization has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced Original Research essay that makes no attempt to assert notability of the topic. The writing style is so unclear as to be almost impenetrable.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Edit summaries[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Data virtualization. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. --M4gnum0n (talk) 12:03, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Virtual Master Data Management, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Virtual Master Data Management and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. TScabbard (talk) 23:37, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning; the next time you insert a spam link, as you did at Data management, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. Kuru (talk) 03:42, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On second thought, after looking though your edit history, I cannot find any edits not designed to blatantly promote your company. I've blocked this account until you can provide some indication that you've read all of the warnings above all will cease to spam wikipedia. Thanks. Kuru (talk) 04:01, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure how to provide an explanation to the blocking and ask you to reconsider the blocking of my account?

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Request reason:

as soon as the block is lifted I will review the pages which were noted for removal and either remove them or edit based on commonly accepted Wikipedia Guidelines and submit for review by admins. I cannot do so with the block in place. Syaskin (talk) 17:44, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Accept reason:

Syaskin (talk) 17:44, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can you refrain from adding any other links to your company or your products? Kuru (talk) 18:15, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • If by "remove them" you mean delete the articles, not being an administrator you can't, and as for "edit based on commonly accepted Wikipedia Guidelines", I would like to see more specific statements as to the kind of editing you propose to do to them. The articles in question have clearly been created as part of a promotional campaign for a business which does not appear to satisfy Wikipedia's notability criteria, and I see no prospect for the articles to satisfy those criteria. Your account clearly exists purely for promotional purposes. I am much inclined to decline this request, but I am willing to wait little while to see if you can give more justification for an unblock. JamesBWatson (talk) 11:11, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My understanding of the reason for the blocking was not the creation of these articles from 2006, but the fact that I edited a page on Data Virtualization. The pages above were created long time ago and as they were submitted for deletion I would not try to keep them alive. If the consensus was to remove them, then I agree with that decision. The only other article with external reference to Queplix was the company infopage with 1 sentence company description and location. It is deleted now as well. I did not create any other articles with external references but I had been contributing to the data management articles for many years. I am respectfully asking to unblock my account. I understand the guidelines for creating contents and will refrain from mentioning any business entities. Syaskin (talk) 17:50, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK. I have consulted the blocking administrator about the possibility of unblocking. JamesBWatson (talk) 20:38, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kindly update me on the status of the decision. Thanks. 173.200.182.194 (talk) 18:50, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this last comment is from yourself, then I would add that you have been editing Master data management and other articles while blocked - that is not allowed. If so you should stop now.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:33, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, now we are just going a little overboard with this blocking mission.. First of all, The last edit on the Master data management article was indeed done by me (I had contributed to many data management articles over the years), but with all due respect the timestamp on this last edit was January 21, 2011. My account was blocked on February 19, 2011. Secondly, in reference to me "editing other articles" and "you should stop", I thought the definition of the block was that I am unable to participate in editing anymore and I certainly did not. So I really do not understand the accusations and the reasoning behind this. Sincerely,Syaskin (talk) 01:11, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Very sorry, some senior moment seems to have crept in. I must have seen the 21st on Master data management, and noticed you were blocked on the 19th - I somehow missed the month...  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:09, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies for the delay, I thought I had this page on my watchlist. After discussing with James, I'm totally on board with unblocking on the condition you refrain from adding material that you have a conflict of interest with; that is, use third party sources on general topics and do not add direct material related to your company. I'm not seeing the edits Ron is referring to; it seems all edits with that IP occurred outside of your block period. Since you've indicated agreement of those conditions above, I'll lift the block.
