Hi @Switch827: How goes it? I've done a surface cleanup on this article, which was a bit of a mess but really well referenced and structured. I've removed non-specific, promotional and non-reliable references from the article. Are you perchance related to the guitarist, or just a fan. Hello @Scope creep: Could be better, I guess... Thank you for noticing my efforts! You seem to be the only welcoming and friendly wikipedian on my Talk page and on the page that I worked on for 5 months sifting through online newspaper archives for some valuable references and putting the article together, which honestly was quite a challenge since English is not my first language (I'm originally from Eastern Europe). I am a big fan of the band, and Dana Strum is the reason I play bass. So I just wanted to honor him by contributing to his page which used to be non-informative, lacked correct facts and was poorly referenced for more than a decade. I was planning to expand on Slaughter's and other members' of the band pages later since a lot of the information I found could be used for them too, but now I am really discouraged and most probably will refrain from doing so. For me, Wikipedia turned out to be quite a hostile environment with even the most experienced users, as those who left comments on the Talk pages here and Dana Strum's page, forgetting about or refusing to follow some of the Wikipedia guidelines themselves such us WP:NOBITING. I am really interested in keeping as much of the information on Dana Strum's page as possible. I wouldn't like to think that all the time and efforts that I've invested into it while working a job from 9 to 5 and having a family will be wasted for no good reason. I will really appreciate it if you could give some guidance on how to improve the article and keep most of it on Wikipedia. Thanks again! Switch827 (talk) 05:40, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

Hi @Switch827: It is a bit of a hostile place sometimes, particularly when folk think its a paid editor at work who has not declared they are paid. I hadn't heard of Strum either. I guess it is an age thing, I mostly stopped at led zeppelin with some queen and elo. When I was reading the article I didn't realise until later that he was a bassist, I thought he was guarist. I was looking forward to some of the music as I like a good guitarist. The article is really well reference, although the language isn't ideal. Its not really encyclopedic. I plan to copyedit it, perhaps you can do it WP:COPYEDIT, but it is so well sourced and structured it would be good to see it improved. The stuff I removed was what is considered non-rs. Discogs and imbd. They were mostly sites created by users and reduce the quality. I took out that section as it was non-specific to the article. It was bloaty, but with 20k taken off it, its a much better article. Switch827 would you consider working on other articles, maybe sticking around. @Scope creep, I will greatly appreciate your help with editing. Could you give me more detail on why you removed Awards & Achievement section? You did explain that "None of these are individually him, they are all specific to the band, and should be in that article", but there were two that he personnaly got for producing/engineering the band's albums. I am also comparing it to the Achievement section Paul McCartney#Legacy on Paul McCartney's page, and there you can find all the awards he got as a member of the Beatles along with his personal. It's a featured article and I suppose could be used as a good example to follow. Am I wrong? Switch827 (talk) 21:58, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

@Switch827: Because the achievements are largely non-notable, several of them look like clickbait, they are having to do with the band not the individual or the album but not Strum and largely don't add anything to the article in terms of quality. scope_creep^Talk 15:50, 28 November 2022 (UTC)

@Scope creep, can I at least mention that he won American Music Awards with the band? Sounds notable enough to me, on Paul McCartney's page it is mentioned that he won several Grammies with the Beatles... Yip, if they are specific to the band, but a lot of them are really non-notable unless it is a grammy. If he won the grammy himself, then yes. scope_creep^Talk 18:27, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
