Eirtakon

Since my discussion with Cirt with regards to the possible reinstatement of the article to mainspace is going nowhere, I'd like to ask you why you AfD'd it in the first place? Just because mainstream media like RTÉ, the Times, the Indo and the Herald don't care about it, doesn't mean others don't. And why specifically nominate it when there's about fifteen other articles that exist on anime cons in Europe that are in even less of a state with regards to sourcing and notability? We have a guideline here called WP:OSE which I would invite you to read. Or if you'd rather not, the short version is that if one non-notable article has been deleted and others haven't, the solution is to AFD those articles, not to restore the one. So if you'd provide me with a list, I'll gladly review.
Warpcon got written up in the Irish Examiner and elsewhere, and therefore has an article. If Eirtakon picks up similar coverage, there is every chance it may become eligible for one too. Stifle (talk) 08:08, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Well, for a start the vast majority of stuff listed in List of anime conventions#Europe is of a worse condition than even the state of the Eirtakon article when it was AfD'd (which has subsequently been improved in sandbox).
With regards to being published, that's the thing, very few media outlets in this country give much of a shit about any sort of gaming/anime/sci-fi convention (bar Gamer Expo, but that's only really because they actually paid for advertising in the Metro Herand and on FM104), Warpcon only really got a mention as the Examiner is inherently biased towards Cork and the south in general. I've already tried searching local stuff like the Herald, and gone down to the nitty-gritty that is searching through the Northside People and a few other local papers to find nothing. Along these lines though, are stuff like The College View not noteworthy or independent enough to use as sources? As it stands, we're trying to find a proper link to when the con was mentioned in Le cool Dublin as an event to go to... TheChrisD Rants•Edits 20:08, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
I'm well aware. Ultimately, the most notable events have picked up coverage (and Gamer Expo got cancelled, last I checked), so if Eirtakon hasn't been able to get written up, that tends to suggest it is not sufficiently notable for a Wikipedia article. The College View would probably be a step in the right direction to proof of notability for a public event or an event at some other college, but not a DCU event, where TCV is more or less bound to print something about it.
Rather than focusing on more and more tenuous reasons why it should have an article, I think you should step back and accept that it's not currently suitable for inclusion.

Well, if that's the case...
Not trying to beat a dead horse, but what if sites such as the @rcade and Inside the Margin written something on it, just as they both did for Nom-con as I have linked there? Would that have helped establish notability, or are they not reliable enough as being too "bloggy"? TheChrisD Rants•Edits 17:05, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
It would contribute towards notability, although I think the deletion discussion regulars will expect mainstream media (tabloid or broadsheet, regional papers would count too).
My suggestion would be that when you think the userspace draft is at its best possible level, you list a deletion review for it and see what you get. Stifle (talk) 10:24, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Undeletion request

I was wondering (per User talk:Stifle/FAQs/undelete) if you would be able to undelete Kingdom Now theology. The article was deleted due to a lack of notability and sources, but I've found a couple of journal articles: Gordon L. Anderson, "Kingdom now theology : a look at its roots and branches," Paraclete, 24 no 3 Sum 1990, p 1-12 and William A. Griffin, "Kingdom Now : New Hope or New Heresy," Eastern Journal of Practical Theology, 2 Spr 1988, p 6-36. StAnselm (talk) 07:50, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

A request for undeletion

The academic called "Ghil'ad Zuckermann" is a full Professor of Linguistics and Endangered Languages at the University of Adelaide. He is an authority on language revitalization and language contact and meets the requirements of notability. According to the Deletion Log an article about this academic was deleted more than two years ago for notability reasons. These reasons are by now irrelevant. For example, this academic was only an Associate Professor at the time of the deletion. In other words, significant new information has come to light since the deletion more than two years ago. On the main image of Mohammad Mosaddegh

Dear Stifle, with reference to my earlier request with regard to the above-mentioned image, just wish to request you kindly to have a word with User:DIREKTOR (on Commons), who seems unable to read. I hereby announce that should DIREKTOR fail to respect my repeated request once more, I will, against my wish, remove the PD from the image and subsequently remove the image from Wikipedia for good. PD is not withdrawable. The image is not copyrighted, so anyone can use it however they wish. I am not going to intervene in your dispute with another editor; please engage with him and use the dispute resolution process. Stifle (talk) 11:44, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Dear Stifle: Just wish to bring to your attention that User:DIREKTOR has called me a terrorist bomber here. This libellous racist comment has subsequently been quietly removed by User:99of9, see here, without taking any disciplinary action against User:DIREKTOR. I propose therefore that User:99of9 be seriously questioned about his lack of professionalism in handling the issue. As for User:DIREKTOR, he must have no place inside Wikipedia.
