frit forum?

Hey Stifle

I noted that you the 16th of May deleted the page Frit Forum which I created. Why is that?

best regards fyrkat —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fyrkat (talkcontribs) 17:29, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Frit Forum was deleted under criterion 7 (under Articles) of our criteria for speedy deletion because it appeared to be an article about a club which didn't indicate why it was important or significant. Please see WP:ORG for details of what might show notability. If you think that these criteria are met, please explain which one and provide citations from reliable sources to back up your claim, and I will consider undeleting it.
You may alternatively file a deletion review request. Stifle (talk) 09:03, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Deletion review for LyricWiki

An editor has asked for a deletion review of LyricWiki. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article, speedy-deleted it, or were otherwise interested in the article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Corvus cornixtalk 21:21, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

two questions

Isn't it standard procedure to put Template:Delrev on the deleted/deletable page as described by WP:DRV instructions? I found the edit summary a bit derogatory. Are image discussions and actions supposed to be inherently rude? Aditya(talkcontribs) 01:24, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

{{delrev}} is usually used only for pages which have a keep decision appealed or which are restored during a DRV so that people can see the previous content. Image description pages without an actual image to correspond to them are deleted as a general standard. As for the description, it's taken directly from the deletion dropdown. Leon Ousby

Stifle.. My article on Leon Ousby (Perth Actor) was awaiting refs from various sources in Australia. I know Australia is still a long way from becoming a nation that produces notable individuals, especially from western Australia, but there have been a few. I did have a handon sign on the article, but it was removed by a user who has left a message on my talk page. Is there any way I can have the article moved to my area so I can complete the criteria or has it gone forever. Warm regards Orson Griffiths. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Orson20 (talkcontribs) 08:14, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Question regarding possible sockpuppetry

Excuse me, Stifle. I found a discussion on Talk:Alternative Metal where an editor (Specifically Prophaniti) is pushing an agenda, attempting to get the article merged with alternative rock. I know this is likely of no interest to you, but I suspect he may have been using sockpuppets to influence the ultimate outcome. See, these edits were made within 8 minutes of each other, and that IP has only ever made 1 edit. What should I do? Valtoras (talk) 09:14, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Talk:Alternative Metal does not exist. If you have issues with possible sock puppets, you should make a listing at Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser or Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets. I am sorry, but I am not in a position to investigate or intervene in user conduct disputes. Stifle (talk) 09:17, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Pardon the intrusion, but Talk:Alternative metal is the actual link to the talk page in question above. - Dravecky (talk) 10:30, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the update. Stifle (talk) 11:01, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for the helpful response. Haha, regarding the wizard, I checked but didn't find anything that could help me on that entire page, at least regarding this issue (maybe he's invisible XD). The reason I brought this to you is because I wanted to bring this to somebody's attention, but the user in question seems to be somewhat combative and agenda-pushy. If I were to request a checkuser or a SSP case against him, it would be necessary and proper to inform him of such. Valtoras (talk) 01:13, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Indeed it would. Stifle (talk) 08:32, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for your swift assistance in the move of WVNN to WVNN (AM). Your rapid response let me stay "in the groove" as I update, overhaul, and freshen all of the articles in Category: Radio stations in Huntsville, Alabama. - Dravecky (talk) 10:27, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

I own the copyright dammit!

It's eager chipmonks like you who made me leave wikipedia. I really don't have time to debate issues like who own's copyright over my own work and whether or not I can put material that I own on wikipedia. This discussion, if you had bothered to follow the thread on the discussion page occurred about two years ago. Now you raise it, and since you're so keen to takeover the known universe with your moral prudery, have enough admin privileges to destroy probably every contribution I have ever made to wikipedia. I notice you are not a South African and probably haven't a clue about the topic you deleted. It's supposed to be an article on the history of SA dance music, but thanks to you, its been erased. Happing trails, squirrel. Ethnopunk (talk) 11:10, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

It appears that you're referring to South African dance music. This was not deleted because of copyright problems, but rather because a community consensus decided it should be deleted. And I did not delete it.
Please be civil and refrain from making personal attacks. Stifle (talk) 11:17, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

William Rodriguez article at 3RR

Hello Stifle. I believe there is strong evidence that Wtcsurvivor is a sock of Jrandi, enough to justify an indef block. Can I add this result to your closure of the 3RR issue, or would you prefer for me to enter it elsewhere, e.g. at SSP? EdJohnston (talk) 15:46, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Be my guest. Stifle (talk) 15:47, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. I boldly assumed you meant that I could undo the protection as well. EdJohnston (talk) 16:17, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

I recently noticed that you deleted , citing invalid justification. As the uploader of the image, that leads me to just ask for some clarification. I'm not totally familiar with the whole image policy, finding it way to complex and difficult to follow when there's much more I'd rather be doing, so I hope you can bear with me here. I added the image when preparing Trevor Linden for it's FA nom, which it passed. I'd like to point out that not once during the nomination were any concerns raised about this or any other images, but that's probably not enough of a basis to back this on.

The image was added after I was trying to find more images of Linden, feeling two current ones were not enough. After looking at Dominik Hasek, which uses some non-free images. Specifically, my rational for uploading was Image:VezinaHasek.jpg. As such, I tried to provide the same justification used for that image.

I don't want this to be seen as a user complaining that someone deleted their image, because it's not that. I'm more trying to understand what rational can be given to keep , as it is the most defining picture in the career of Trevor Linden. Kaiser matias (talk) 17:59, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

To use the image would require a full rationale to be written explaining how the image complies with all the criteria at WP:NFCC. Do you think you could do that? Stifle (talk) 18:15, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Gaeilge Dúchasach, an ea?

Haigh, a Stifle! I've been meaning to bug you about this one before ach ní raibh aon seans agam.

As a Gaelgóir, I'm wondering if you'd be interested in setting up an account and contributing over at the Irish language Wiktionary? We could use all the help we can get over there, having gone from a dead wiki with 30 words last August to a wiki with almost 1,000 Irish words and counting. It's fun and a peaceful break away from Wikipedia. Pretty-please? - Alison 21:26, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm pretty rubbish at the layout and formatting of Wiktionaries in general. I also can't understand IPA pronounciation guides. I'll drop over if I can but I don't know if I'll be of a lot of use. Stifle (talk) 09:57, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Freddie Mercury Duets 08 Speedy deletion

Hi, considering the Freddie Mercury Duets 08... Yeah, I was wondering about the speedy deletion criterias, but I counted it as "blatant and obvious hoax" which was mentioned as one form of vandalism. Considering it lists a lousy YouTube video as the source, video being added less than a day before the Wikipedia page was added, additional information copied from another album page and a band member refuting the article, I thought it could be thought as pretty obvious. Sami (talk) 11:51, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I see where you were coming from, but I thought that it could be considered somewhat plausible and should go to AFD. Stifle (talk) 13:31, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
