Ignimbrite in field

You said the copyrite had been challenged. How is this possible? I took the photo. How can i prove that it is my photo? Russjass (talk) 23:14, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

I've cancelled the listing. Stifle (talk) 08:17, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

It looks like there's a complaint against you in the incidents noticeboard here. bibliomaniac15 23:48, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. I knew this was coming up from WT:CFB and also knew that nothing would come of it. Indeed, another admin who's a member there told them not to bother with the report. I suspect it'll blow over shortly. Stifle (talk) 08:16, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Wonder if you saw

this. Did not get any acknowledgement from you if not a reply. So, reposting again here. Cheers. Prashanthns (talk) 14:38, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

I didn't think that a reply was needed as you didn't ask me anything. Thanks for dropping by. Stifle (talk) 15:08, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out. I somehow managed to miss that. Stifle (talk) 17:59, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Felpausch

Just letting you know that a user turned up a bunch of reliable sources in this AfD. You might want to check them out. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 17:39, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Corp vs Org

Genuine question - am I citing WP:ORG inappropriately? Both WP:CORP and WP:ORG go to the same page. I was merely choosing it because it had one less letter to type. However, I don't really wish to appear foolish in my AfD participation... Tan | 39 18:14, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, looks like someone merged them. I'm behind the times. They're both the same. Stifle (talk) 21:15, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Rollback

The effectively banned editor, User:WJH1992, you yesterday complained about me rollbacking has today used no fewer than four IP addresses to perpetuate his nonsense. I'm fed up of reverting his unworthy edits, and if you think that I don't need to use rollback, with an explanation for each and every reversion, I'm more than happy to waste additional time formulating diffs for an WP:RFC or an WP:RFAR. I did a rangecheck an hour ago on just one ISP he uses; but I didn't feel that blocking 262,400 users would be acceptable collateral damage. Please accept that I know what I'm doing. --Rodhullandemu 20:48, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Talk

How on earth does anyone find a previous post to your talk page? Stifle by name, ..... ? --Rodhullandemu 22:46, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

I archive my talk page regularly. The archives are linked at the top, by date range. Stifle (talk) 22:48, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Re this post and that immediately above; pure accident. It shouldn't be like that and heaven help an unsophisticated, or unintelligent editor (i.e. the norm, uhh?) --Rodhullandemu 22:50, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Um, what? You're saying that I should never archive my talk page?
  • I receive dozens of messages each month, if I kept them all here then the page would become totally unmanageable.
  • The messages can be accessed in the page history as well as the archives.
  • I also copy (almost) all my replies to the other user's talk page so they can be found there.
Or am I completely missing your point? And what does "Stifle by name..." mean anyway? Stifle (talk) 23:05, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: Prod tagging of 24104 Vinissac

Hello. I have removed the prod tag on 24104 Vinissac. Asteroid are inherently notable and articles about asteroid are within the inclusion criteria. The name of this asteroid appears in various Wikipedia articles such as Meanings of asteroid names (24001-25000), List of asteroids/24101–24200, and List of named asteroids (S-V). Articles on this same asteroid exist on the Polish, Portuguese, and Italian Wikipedias. 24104 Vinissac also appears in various external sources such as the Jet Propulsion Lab's asteroid database, Harvard's List of minor planet names, and Harvard's list of discovery locations. If you have any questions, please ask them to me whenever you wish. Captain panda 23:01, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

I would have to disagree that asteroids are inherently notable. I'll be nominating some for AFD in the near future. Stifle (talk) 23:09, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Talk

Do you realise that while I've been negotiating your labyrinthine and unhelpful structures since your last message to me, at least five unhelpful edits have happened on my watchlist? I really resent having to swim through treacle to make a simple point, and efficient to you though it may be, it's not helpful elsewhere. I resisted commenting on the recent thread concerning you on WP:ANI because I hoped for the best. Seems I was wrong. Longevity as an Admin is no substitute for getting it right. --Rodhullandemu 23:05, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Ah, do you mean the talk page wizard? That's there to ensure that people's queries get answered as quickly as possible, by helping people answer their own question (like "why was the page deleted"), or redirecting queries that any admin could answer to the admin noticeboards. Anyone can just click the "add section" link at the top anyway. Stifle (talk) 23:08, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm saying that Admins should always be receptive to communication; this is part of the transparency and openness of Wikipedia; the only reason I reply here is that this is where the reply link takes me; that's not my choice; it's yours. A less-sophisticated editor, such as a newbie, is likely to be deterred by this structure. Maybe I am able, due to my permissions, and other abilities, to negotiate your hierarchy. But if you are going to set up structures to enable communication, I would suggest that you do so with regard to the lowest common denominator here. Otherwise, you might as well not invite communication at all, and that is not what being an Admin is about. --Rodhullandemu 23:21, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, very few people have the same opinion as you on the wizard, and in fact if you look right below this post, you'll find that someone's even awarded me a barnstar for it. I have made every effort to make it as simple as possible while making sure that people's enquiries get directed to the place where they will be answered quickest, but if you have any suggestions as to how I could improve them I would be most delighted to hear them. Stifle (talk) 23:41, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
The point is that if an editor (who may well be unsophisticated and unversed in the ways of Wikipedia) wants to reply to you- directly- your wizard could be seen as unhelpful. I'd click on the "Talk" field, and it would bring me here; but as an "unsophisticated" user, where would I go? What if none of your options were appropriate? As an editor, and an Admin, I'm here something like twelve hours a day, but I don't have a problem distinguishing between "immediate action" and the rest. I can't understand why you demarcate in that way; you're not that busy. --Rodhullandemu 23:44, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
I take your point, but don't agree with it. The last link is "some other reason" which would cover if none of the options were appropriate. Stifle (talk) 23:53, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Forget it. While I've been arguing the toss with you, my watchlist has been going apeshit. You do what you like. I'll deal with the vandals. ok? ? --Rodhullandemu 00:04, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Again, clicking on your "Talk" brings ified in thinking "Huh?", and this is common-sense and nothing at all to do with a PhD in human-computer interaction. I mean, how

precisely are you managing your user's expectations? Hmm? --Rodhullandemu 23:59, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Barnstar

What a Brilliant Idea Barnstar
Your wizard is an excellent idea, and was expertly created. I took advantage of this part to give you this award for such a creative idea. :) Great thinking! Acalamari 23:38, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

This article isn't particularly critical, but it's a daughter product of the List of blood donation agencies article. Considering that List of Alpha Delta Pi chapters and List of enemies in Doom persist, I don't see how the article is any less notable.

It may simply be that none of these articles are particularly notable and deserve a quick trip to the recycling bin in the sky.

I have removed the deletion tag. If you wish to re-add it, I won't further object.Somedumbyankee (talk) 00:06, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Desperation, injustice

Hi. I want to tell how extremely sad I am. I have been trying to contribute heartfully to Wikipedia, and I look at this list of the media I have uploaded constantly deleted. I feel these deletions abusive and destructive, every image I have uploaded I got the consent of both the author and people in the image, for every single image the author her/himself provided me the image in high quality and specified the licence to which she/he wanted the work to be under, in all my cases so far all http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.5/. Every image I have uploaded I have referred to permissions-en@wikimedia.org with the details of the conversations and agreements I got from the authors, and I never had any queue ticket you mentionned. So if you want to do something useful, I suggest you work on admin the permissions-en@wikimedia.org instead of deleting contributors work, it is very discouraging. Now help me restaure these images please, and if there are attribution corrections to be corrected, do correct them, don't delete the images just because it takes less time, help wikipedia, don't punish contributors, especially if you consider yourself as a super-contributor or even more if you are admin. RESPECT!

Abusive recent deletion list:

  • Image:Education-influence-tetsuo.png
  • Image:Nina Beier.jpg
  • Image:Tetsuo-harada-Paris.png
  • Tetsuo-Harada deportation nanterre.jpg

Thanks very much. Thanks for all your work on Wikipedia, compassion for a newbie.

--cesarharada (talk) 00:35, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

I will not be able to restore those images as {{cc-by-nd-2.5}} is not a permitted license on Wikipedia. Please read this page which explains this in more detail. Please also remember to be civil in your interactions and check that you have your facts right before you accuse people. Stifle (talk) 08:10, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Anabond Limited

In your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Anabond Limited, you said that Anabond Limited should be deleted because no reliable sources were cited. In fact, the article has two references, both from Chemical Business NewsBase - Chemical Week, which were distributed by Asia Africa Intelligence Wire and made available through AccessMyLibrary.com --Eastmain (talk) 01:23, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

adenin TECHNOLOGIES

Stifle, This is in regards to a deletion you made for adenin TECHNOLOGIES last week. You cited advertisment as the criteria for deletion. As you can see I am new to this Wikipedia thing. I am having problems because I write something and I get dinged for notability or advertising. Alot of times I am even using other listings as a template. For example the article you deleted I cited companies that use the products produced by adenin. I am assuming that is what the advertsing was. Other companies use clients in their listing. Is that permissable? How is Intranet Dashboard not advertising? I have used awards as notability as well and it has gotten me no where. Could you please give me some advice?Amyyaley (talk) 02:08, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

I am only briefly back before going away again. I have already explained why the page was deleted, and if you are not happy you can make a listing at deletion review. Stifle (talk) 08:13, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

I added some references to Automatic centre. You may want to revisit Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Automatic centre. --Eastmain (talk) 02:43, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
