Why was the article removed?

I wish to challenge the deletion of a page that you deleted.

  • The page title is backupurl.
  • I have read the reason for deleting the page and I feel it was incorrect because I wrote an article about a website that is going to change the world and how we link each other to things. The website was infact featured on cnet technology news a few hours ago. I dont understand why TinyURL can have a article giving people infomation and so can Youtube. What have I done wrong really?

Your own message explains why the article BackupURL was deleted — it's "a website that is going to change the world". Wikipedia has articles about subjects that are already notable. The only coverage backupURL has received in reliable sources is a three-liner on cnet. Please try again when the site meets the guideline WP:WEB.
Regarding your message about tinyURL and youTube, please note that these sites meet the guideline WP:WEB, and in any case, arguments about other articles aren't persuasive.

Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Conference page

I went to find the Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Conference and found you had deleted the page. I read all of the references but I am new to using this to ask you to reinstate it. Upon finding the page in Google archives (a Google search has over 5,000 hits) I found all of the information correct and nothing offensive. I was sparked to look for this because of a recent article in a newspaper www.The-Word-online.com I was on the host committee for the 1997 conference at Indiana State University and attended the conferences in 1995, 96, 97, and 98. The list of Keynote speakers alone is worth noting not to mention how significant this conference has grown to be throughout the US. Margaret Cho, RuPaul, Moises Kaufman, Larry Kramer, Urvashi Vaid, Michelangelo Signorile, Jim J. Bullock to name just a few. I hope you will be able to restore this listing, wiki is an important player in preserving our, everyone’s history. I notice that you chose my talk page option relating to an AFD debate where someone added information late in the discussion, but that is not correct. The page was deleted according to a consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Conference. If you feel that the deletion process was not properly followed, you can list a deletion review, but deletion reviews are not to be used just because you disagree with the outcome of the discussion.

I'm glad that you and DGG settled on some compromise language in order that the debate over administrator notification might not take place so frequently, but I must offer that the second clause probably requires a few more words; "or was there some special reason you didn't?" would be closer to complete (better still, to avoid what might strictly be seen as a incomplete dilemma [the question as now cast doesn't permit an answer by an editor who did not consult the closing or deleting admin but has no special reason for which he/she skipped that step], "or, if not, was there some special reason you didn't?"). If brevity, a concept with which I am unfamiliar, is preferred, "or is this is a special case?" might be used; anything but the jarring "some special reason" would, I think, be fine. I'm trying to post an article on Frank Worldwide, a Miami based ad agency that's made a name for themselves by working with some of the country's top brands, including Bacardi, Dominos, Volkswagon, and much more. FRANK. is the exclusive agency of record for all of Volkswagon's print advertising.

I've posted the article a couple times and you've deleted it. Can you please help me understand what I need to do in order to have the page post?

Frank Worldwide was deleted under criterion 11 under General of our criteria for speedy deletion, as it was designed to advertise a product or service. Concerning your message on my talk page, though I may understand your concern, I have to say that I'm in a situation where I'm almost obliged to do so: some users keep telling the same argument without even taking notice of what has been explained against it and without of course answering to that. Chess sets DRV

Can you confirm the content DS is attributing to these sub-stubs? How valid were the "references"? I'm unable to have a look as a non-admin (there should almost be another subset to admin, beyond rollback, which allows viewing deleted content, but doesn't give the tools themselves). And yes, I know being active in DRV without having access to the deleted content is weird - but in some ways I think it's important that a non admin-cabalite (you monsters :-)) hangs around there. The articles each contained the text DS specified, a reference to a blog, a reference to either a personal website or a site selling the chess sets, an internal link, a navbox, a stub tag, and categories.

DS appears to have provided sufficient part of the content to judge, even if he does seem to be a little more upset about the DRV than I would prefer to see from a three year admin (not to say I don't understand him, Green Squares hasn't exactly been entirely CIVIL). Regarding deleted content, I recognize the GFDL concerns with it. I guess it will remain a part of the Sysops "chores" to provide information on what was contained. No skin off my nose. I feel awkward doing this but the above user account is shared by multiple users. Specifically a class and a teacher is overseeing their editing + replying to messages. The rule is one person one account. I'll leave this to your discretion. Thanks for the message. I have blocked the class accounts as role accounts. YuZheng himself has put a notice on his userpage saying that the account is no longer for use by class members, so I think that will be fine.
As for the talk page wizard, I find that a lot of users try to get help from an individual user when any admin could help them, and/or their question is very common and has an answer on a FAQ page. To help people resolve their own issues faster, I created the wizard which refers queries to the right place, while still allowing users to contact me when only I can resolve their issue. Stifle, you declined this whitelisting request for a single-page whitelisting for the Shona poet with this reason:

  • no Declined as we do not link to copyvios. If that particular item is not a copyvio, please put the content on Wikisource and link to it there.

Consensus is clear that copyvio is not an issue with the site, nor with the specific page. Your suggestion about Wikisource seems to be based on a misunderstanding that the material isn't copyrighted. It is, see the evidence in the discussion you responded to. Besides what is there, there are these confirmations from administrators: DGG's comment on AN and Beetstra's comment there: there have been concerns of copyright (which I indeed think are unfounded). More such opinions were cited in the AN discussion, which does mention your action.

Please strike your decline comment. If you read the AN discussion and conclude that the single page can be whitelisted, (which was the opinion of Beetstra from the beginning), then your action in that respect would resolve the whole flap, immediately. Userification of Dale Dubin

You recently took part in this DRV for Dale Dubin. The deletion was upheld and I asked several other admins to userfy the page and its talk page (since it had some citations that weren't in the article), but I got no response. Would you be so kind? - Draeco (talk) 00:51, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

I can't, I'm afraid, as it's a BLP violation. The information DGG and I posted at the DRV is all the non-BLP-violating information there was there. Stifle (talk) 21:50, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
WP:USERFY contains nothing more harsh than "the policy Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons may preclude userfication." (italics mine), but even WP:BLP itself does not support that. I'm requesting this move to improve the article, but how can I do that when I'm forbidden from using the original text and several citations, even within my own userspace? The original deleting admin appeared in the DRV to have actually restored half of the article to the main namespace, so how can my userspace be off limits? I really don't think that the content which you don't already have is appropriate for any namespace. But for your records, the cites are:
