File:Richard Shaw 3.PNG listed for deletion[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Richard Shaw 3.PNG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Richard E Shaw[edit]

Please note that I have moved User:Soccertv1 to User:Soccertv1/Richard E Shaw in-line with our standards. The guy was born in Blackpool where my wife comes from and played for Kendal Town F.C. whose ground I cycled past on my way to and from school so clearly he is a good guy! I will leave you to turn it into an article. But as to the image, I am very dubious. Can you assure me that you took the photo or otherwise have the full right to use it? If that is the case, please upload a version which is a JPG and does not have the areas of black. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:30, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your article has been moved to AfC space[edit]

Hi! Have a nice day. ArticlesForCreationBot (talk) 22:45, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Photo, etc.[edit]

Please user:RHaworth/moans#noncomm. You managed to upload File:PhotoBL.png to the Commons with a sensible licence tag. Why could you not do the same with File:Phototw.JPeg? Please upload it to the Commons with a title of file:Richard Shaw TV commentator.jpg. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 00:04, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Soccertv1. You have new messages at RHaworth's talk page.

For goodness sake - AfC is articles for creation - you have just been editing Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Richard E. Shaw so I assumed you could guess what AfC stands for. Also please read this and stop SHOUTING. Richard Shaw (footballer born 1977) is an acceptable title but what you wrote above is not. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 00:22, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

November 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Richard E. Shaw. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.  -- WikHead (talk) 20:30, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Richard E. Shaw. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you.

Please also be aware of Wikipedia guidelines on adding external links, and consider using the preview button to do large edits in one go, rather than many incremental saves. Happy editing! Gsyhiap (talk) 21:08, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Richard E. Shaw, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you.  -- WikHead (talk) 03:41, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. Continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Richard E. Shaw, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, may be considered disruptive editing. Pointless[edit]

Please explain why you have gone on editing Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Richard E. Shaw after the review had completed and why you created Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Richard E. Shaw. I note that you did add source information to File:Richard Shaw TV commentator.jpg in a rather cack-handed manner. Now please go back and fill in the ????s as I requested. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:23, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I wish I could explain what ive carried out but i am new to this! your question - explain why you have gone on editing Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Richard E. Shaw after the review had completed and why you created Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Richard E. Shaw. sorry Im confused and regarding the photo our family took from behind the tv camera - File:Richard Shaw TV commentator.jpg how do I source it I did not mean to do it in a as you said a cack handed manner ?? also you state please go back and fill in the  ????s as you requested!! all i can say is I apologise what am I filling In?? many thanks for your help and patience DJ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Soccertv1 (talk • contribs) 21:55, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

I shall try and make it clear: there is an article Richard E. Shaw which does not appear to be threatened with deletion. So what is the point of duplicating the text into other places in Wikipedia: Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Richard E. Shaw, this horrible shouting and this edit? Why do we need the information in more than one place? If you cannot explain your edits, I suggest you stop contributing.

As to the image, the fact that I have moved it to Commons, indicates that I accept that you probably hold the copyright but I would be happier if you were to upload the full size original version. "What am I filling in?" Can you actually read the image description? Do you see "????" ? Surely it is clear to you that the first ???? should be replaced with a person's name and the second ???? should be replaced with details of the football match: date, venue, names of teams. Is that really too difficult to understand?

You seem to have a connection to Richard E. Shaw. Please declare it. Are you possibly his son? — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:49, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Incidentally, to correct the image description, you will have to follow this link. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 11:23, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Youtube[edit]

Thank you for providing a verifiable written reference for Richard E. Shaw's television work. Please can you stop adding Youtube links to the article. I suggest you read the policies on rich media links, Youtube links, and general policy on adding external links. Thanks -- gsyhiap (talk) 16:23, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Richard E Shaw[edit]

Hi Soccertv1, thank you for responding. What I'm most concerned with, is the fact that many of your references and external links appear as WP:BURLs... meaning that they display the same way as they appear in the address-bar of your browser. What I would appreciate (at the very least) is for you to add text labels to these links, so they appear as blue words rather than raw http file-paths. If text-labels are present, I can easily tweak the formatting further myself, if necessary. Through bad personal experiences relating to Adobe Acrobat software, I will not allow it to be installed to any piece of computer equipment I own... and without this software, I am unable to view and retreive the document titles or text to properly identify and label these files myself. I'm more than willing to help resolve this issue with your co-operation and a bit of descriptive text.  -- WikHead (talk) 18:59, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Additional clarification[edit]

For example, if we type

that's exactly the way it appears on the page... i.e. as a bare URL.

To address this, we can type
  • [http://en.wikipedia.org Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia]

which will display on the page as → Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ←. At this point, it's no longer a bare URL. I can return to complete the rest of the formatting myself, as long as the link-titles (for the PDF files) have been provided.  -- WikHead (talk) 19:54, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. Just now, when I looked however, the three PDF reference links were still without titles. If you can provide names for those links, the tag can be removed.  -- WikHead (talk) 22:53, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh! much better. I just added your titles, so readers will now see them rather than the ugly file-paths. I've removed the tag as well! I will also return to complete the formatting in a short while (accessdates and whatnot). As per Wikipedia policies however, I don't recommend bringing back the Youtube links. If you feel the Youtube stuff is an absolute must, you can try adding a single link to an "external links" section (just not inline or as a reference). Even then however, it may still be challenged and removed by another editor based on policy. I hope our concerns have finally been addressed. Should you have any further questions, don't be shy to ask. Happy editing! :)  -- WikHead (talk) 00:21, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

wikhead many thanks! ( Richard Shaw - Professional soccer / football Player / TV Commentator / NY Soccer Central. 00:40, 27 November 2011 (UTC) )

Sure Soccertv1, I don't mind helping at all... but please, next time you have a question, post it to the bottom of my talk page, and keep all your followup comments and replies together in one tidy section. I am returning now to complete the reference formatting on your article. This should finally address all my original concerns, and yours as well. Have yourself a great day Soccertv1, all the best!  -- WikHead (talk) 01:57, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Soccertv1, thanks again for your message. I'm just now, getting logged in for my daily session and finding what you have posted to my talk page. I'm pleased to see that you were able to resolve your questions before I even became aware of them. Newly created articles (as you've figured out on your own) will not automatically appear on disambiguation pages... they must be added and edited manually. A good little piece of information to keep tucked under your hat ;) Stay well Soccertv1, and happy editing! :)  -- WikHead (talk) 19:55, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Richard Shaw[edit]

Hi Soccertv1. I'm afraid this time I'm unable to be of much help to you. The page in question, "Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Richard E. Shaw" appears to have been protected by RHaworth. The only thing I can suggest, is to send him a message requesting it to either be deleted, or no-indexed in an effort to get Google to ignore it. Clicking (here)RHaworth's name will take you directly to his talk page. Good luck! :)  -- WikHead (talk) 01:02, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please learn to create wikilinks instead of crudely copying chunks of text. Let us deal with things in order. In my note of Nov 27 at #Pointless above I made a request and asked questions. Please attend to those matters and then I will deal with your current request. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 11:18, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Please keep discussions in one place - this page. I am watching it. Please reply here. If I have not replied to a message of yours within 24 hours, stick a {{talkback}} tag on my user talk page - just that, a {{talkback}} tag - there is no need to leave anything else. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:48, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Richard E. Shaw has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG and WP:NFOOTBALL.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
