Saturnalia

You said there might be a copyvio, however, the page you linked to made no mention of Saturnalia. Furthermore, a majority of that article is taken from a lecture and its handout, given by Professor Woolf at the University of St Andrews...whom I did obtain permission from before using. Arthurian films

I never doubted you edited in good faith, but I reverted you for two reasons. First, that page is for films that are actually based on the Arthurian legend, i.e. retellings, adaptations, etc., not just for films that happen to reference it. Second, the Stone of Scone has nothing to do with the Arthurian legend at any rate, and the Arthur reference was trivial.--Cúchullain t/c 02:56, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Pound Puppies

Hey there, I copyedited the plot and didn't understand this

However, they fall into McNasty's trap, and the villain's henchmen take care of them right away. Cooler acts as a cat to save the Purries, and the three of them are thrown outside. Big Paw brings them back to town to stop the evil trio, as the trio's truck heads to the Pound.

The trap needs to be specified. I assumed that this was when they were transformed, but is that right? Please look at what I did and ask if you don't understand why I made a change. It's nearly 150 words shorter, but it could probably be cut down even more.--Supernumerary 03:09, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

I've turned it into a more sensible sentence: "Later, McNasty's henchmen transform the Puppies into guard dogs, save for Cooler." Tomorrow, we will start dealing with every redlink in the article in order to satisfy WP:GAC. --Slgrandson (page - messages - contribs) 23:20, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

As you set out for Ithaka, hope the voyage is long
Knowledge is your destiny, but don't ever hurry the journey
May there be many summer mornings when
With what pleasure and joy, you come into harbors seen for the first time

Don't expect Ithaka to make you rich. Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey
And, if I, one of your fellow-travellers, can offer something
To make this journey of yours even more fascinating and enjoyable
This is my assistance with anything I can help.

I'm sending a photographer to the Annie Awards this Sunday, on behalf of Wikinews. I'm giving the photographer a sheet of people to lookout for, including John Lasseter, Bill Plympton, Genndy Tartakovsky, Andreas Deja, and a bunch of voice actors. Anyone on the nominee list that you ID as being really important to get a pic of? -- Zanimum 22:05, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Regarding "File shadowing"

I started the "File shadowing" article because it was a "red link" in an article I was reading and I didn't know anything about it. Hence, that is why it had some reference links and a stub template. I was hoping the stub template would encourage someone else to add some content. Nobody did, my article just got marked for speedy deletion. I added some (admittedly not much) content, leaving the stub template on the page, again hoping that someone else will pick up that ball. Please remember that some contributors have jobs, families, and other responsibilities and interests, which make the 5 day deletion warning seem like a giant "go away, you are not welcome here" message. It would be nice if you and your fellow editors/administrators would ease up on the "too short"/"not enough content" articles. It is sometimes difficult to scrape together enough time in one sitting to write a proper article. Returning to work on it, only to find it was speedily deleted, is quite disheartening. --JulieC 01:22, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Popups

Just read your message to Lupin, the problem with popups is that theses a new version installed that isn't compatable with ie. Simply remove popups from your monobook.js and put the version in which I'm posting below as it will allow you to use the previous version that works. You must clear your cache afterwards by holding down ctl and F5 together. Hope this helps! RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 21:26, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

1985 in animation

Sorry for the long-delayed response...

I'm just not sure where to start, really; part of me thinks that this is a good idea, while another part doesn't. I've never used the "year in film" articles myself, because they tend to be very incomplete and lack any concrete rules for what should be mentioned in the "list of released films" or not so what ends up happening is that systematic bias creeps in; the most popular films of wikipedia editors are the ones that are mentioned in the list, which is not comprehensive yet has no good criteria for inclusion.

So basically, I'm not so sure that the "films released" table is such a good idea unless you find a way to remove the systematic bias and have very strict criteria for which films should be mentioned in it. Doubtless you've seen already that the year 1985 on the list of animated feature-length films has tons of releases that are not mentioned in your article right now. Nor should they all be mentioned, I think, because that would take up a lot of space and would be somewhat redundant.

I can think of a few usefull things that such an article could provide, though:

  • a list of the top winners of the major animation festivals for that year
  • mentioning of any technological or artistic (innovative use of existing technology) advancements in the field of animation - backed with citations.
  • important events in the lives of significant figures (maybe)

I think that might also be a good idea to write separate historical overviews for different regions of the world (example). It shouldn't be a chronology like that website, I think, but a general written overview of the most significant developments in that part of the world for that year. This will allow us to go into more detail than specific "history of animation" articles. I think that the "year in animation" articles, contrary to the "year in film" articles, should be actual articles about what happened in that year (general trends and specific events) rather than simply lists of information. Of course it'll take a lot more work and time, but will ultimately be a lot more usefull.

Anyway, just throwing ideas out. What do you think? Esn 20:39, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi - I noticed this edit. The reason the star was duplicated is because the article was successfully nominated twice (and demoted in between). The next time I regenerate the page, it will come back. -- Rick Block (talk) 00:21, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello! If you are receiving this message, that means that your user page is in a specific year category. Per a recent user-category per deletion, all specific year categories are to be deleted. If you wish to continue using year categories, you have two options:

If you wish, you may do both. Hopefully, this change in categorization will be quick and painless. Happy editing! --An automated message from MessedRobot 13:23, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Sorry if your page got deleted, but per WP:Bio, WP:Prod, WP:Vanity and this AFD debate (which, by the way, I started), such memorials do not belong on Wikipedia or elsewhere on Wikimedia.
