Disambiguation link notification for July 31

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Mount Vernon Unitarian Church, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hollin Hall (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Signing comments

Hello, Skynxnex,

Could you sign your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eleven City Diner? It'd be appreciated. I hope you have a great New Years! Liz Read! Talk! 03:39, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

@Liz sorry about that and thanks for letting me know. I think I sign most of my comments and normally catch the ones I miss pretty quickly. Happy New Year. Skynxnex (talk) 03:47, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

U5 speedy deletions of antique pages

Hello, Skynxnex. I've just deleted a number of user pages created many years ago, in some cases well over a decade ago, made by accounts with no other editing history, which you tagged for speedy deletion. I'm intrigued to know how you found them all. 🤔 JBW (talk) 22:00, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

Hi @JBW. The most recent batch I found with a search of resume hire limited to the User namespace and picked out the most obvious ones: [1]. Some of my other recent CSDs (not that I have a ton) came from searches for like "crypto" or similar. I am mostly trying to limit this small bit of deletion I'm doing to very old user pages where the user was otherwise inactive. Skynxnex (talk) 22:07, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
Would you believe that after more than 16 years on Wikipedia, in which I have done more than 170,000 edits, I wouldn't have known how to do that search? I vaguely knew there was some way of searching for pages in namespaces other than mainspace, but I didn't know how. JBW (talk) 22:36, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Rollback granted

Hi Skynxnex. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or RedWarn.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:22, 1 March 2023 (UTC)

What is it I need to do? Sorry I find the afd procedure very confusing. Plutonium27 (talk) 19:34, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

@Plutonium27 I don't think you need to do anything unless you have changes you want to make. I tried my best to remove the typo'd name in the one block and combine your deletion rationale in these edits. I pinged you just to let you know that I had changed it/moved it around in case you wanted it different. I probably should leave a comment about delete or keep now since I've already spent enough time reading it. Skynxnex (talk) 21:06, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
I see where I fucked up. Thanks for sorting it out.Best, Plutonium27 (talk) 21:57, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Polygamy in North America, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A "missing periodical" error. References show this error when the name of the magazine or journal is not given. Please edit the article to add the name of the magazine/journal to the reference, or use a different citation template. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 21:23, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

Altered speedy deletion rationale: User:Kardelen Gediz/Istanbul Water Museum

Hello Skynxnex. I am just letting you know that I deleted User:Kardelen Gediz/Istanbul Water Museum, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided, which didn't fit the page in question. Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 18:22, 25 April 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Ivanvector, thanks for your note. As a general guideline, does WP:U2 "override" Template:Db-error? I'll be sure to begin tagging such redirects with that instead. Thanks! Skynxnex (talk) 18:28, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
No, that template was fine (the "didn't fit the page in question" message is an automatic template). {{db-error}} flags a page under the criterion WP:G6 which I don't like to use if there's another criterion that fits, only because I think G6 is overused and is often used inappropriately because its definition is vague. Your tag was fine, though. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 20:41, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
Ah, I see. Thanks for the reply. I'll keep it in mind for the future. Skynxnex (talk) 20:48, 25 April 2023 (UTC)

Hello, Skynxnex

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Greyzxq, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, 28A, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Greyzxq}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

greyzxq talk 22:47, 31 May 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Greyzxq, my understanding is that redirects are not eligible to be WP:PRODded: Proposed deletion cannot be used with redirects, ... Also they fact that other things could be called this isn't, as far as I know a reason for deletion. If there are multiple subjects on Wikipedia that this would make sense, then convert the redirect to a disambiguation page.
I'd appreciate if you self-reverted the prod nomination. Skynxnex (talk) 00:11, 1 June 2023 (UTC)

The user you have been reverting here appears to be a new sock of a long-term vandal resuming their disruption after a period of inactivity. Based on past behavior, debating them is fruitless--better to simply revert, block, and ignore. Thanks. --Finngall talk 21:53, 21 June 2023 (UTC)

Invitation

Hello Skynxnex!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

I think a mistake was made regarding the recent edits which you reverted.

The relevant section in the article concerns a storm god fighting a snake deity, and so the Vietnamese example isn't relevant and so shouldn't belong there. 2400:2411:22A0:5F00:5148:D624:6A10:FD80 (talk) 03:40, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

I did not intend to revert your edit, that is correct. I probably hit revert instead of skip. But, looking at Lạc Long Quân it seems like it matches somewhat well within Yamata no Orochi. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know for sure so apologies for the revert. Skynxnex (talk) 03:44, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

What are the procedures for a proper move to draftspace?

Hey, could you tell me what situation would properly call for a move to draftspace? I had some confusion earlier but it seems like the one for Draft: Li Xing made sense but not the others. So I can continue to be my best going forward, any advice or even a page reference would be greatly appreciated Faits1789 (talk) 03:23, 6 September 2023 (UTC)

Normally only "recent" articles should moved to draft--there's no exact agreed upon time AFAIK, but it's on the order of newer than ~three months. See WP:DRAFTIFY and WP:ATD-I. I see you moved it, Draft:Li Xing (academic), it back to draft space, again. Also, contra the edit summary in [4], an editor deciding not to immediately undo something shouldn't always be seen as approval. Please slow done and stop doing the same thing again and again, that's getting close to being seen as WP:EDITWARRING. Skynxnex (talk) 04:18, 6 September 2023 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hi Skynxnex. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Steps such as checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline are mandatory and will take a few minutes per article.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any required steps.
  • Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 13:51, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

Thanks @Ingenuity! Skynxnex (talk) 13:58, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

New pages patrol newsletter

Hello Skynxnex,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

Invitation to Cornell study on Wikipedia discussions

Hello Skynxnex,

I’m reaching out as part of a Cornell University academic study investigating the potential for user-facing tools to help improve discussion quality within Wikipedia discussion spaces (such as talk pages, noticeboards, etc.). We chose to reach out to you because you have been highly active on various discussion pages .

The study centers around a prototype tool, ConvoWizard, which is designed to warn Wikipedia editors when a discussion they are replying to is getting tense and at risk of derailing into personal attacks or incivility. More information about ConvoWizard and the study can be found at our research project page on meta-wiki.

If this sounds like it might be interesting to you, you can use this link to sign up and install ConvoWizard. Of course, if you are not interested, feel free to ignore this message.

If you have any questions or thoughts about the study, our team is happy to discuss! You may direct such comments to me or to my collaborator, Cristian_at_CornellNLP.

Thank you for your consideration.

Wood science

Wood science - Hello! I am a new user in the Wikipedia; could you please check and revise this new article I made? Thanks much in advance. G-Lignum (talk) 15:36, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi @G-Lignum, I'll try to take a look when I have time and decide to. What's its relationships with Draft:Science of Wood, which it seems you also started? I tentatively think that it is a good topic for Wikipedia. Thanks for the note. Skynxnex (talk) 17:40, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
Thanks much. This, Wood science, was made entirely with my own words; for the Draft (it is for deletion), please see & check the Talk page. I am a new user in the English Wikipedia, but I am learning fast .. !! Thanks for your attention. G-Lignum (talk) 18:54, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

I'm addressing you because you're the one who moved this site to draft space. The author restored it quite quickly. The article in my opinion is quite suspicious, looking like a hoax to me. To my knowledge, there was no such battle, but there was a pogrom of the Polish population by UPA units in the village of that name, on that day. The language is very controversial, striking above all is the description of the massacres of the Polish population as "Volhynian justice and revenge in 1943-1946". Cheers Marcelus (talk) 23:48, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for the note, Marcelus. Since it was moved back so quickly draftifying it again is at least discouraged now. The sourcing seems a bit vague. If there's no improvement or discussion on the talk page going to AFD makes sense, since it seems probably too complex for a straight CSD nomination. I'll try to look again when I feel up to it but I am hampered by my lack of either language. Skynxnex (talk) 02:50, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

"The page Teaching quantum mechanics has been reviewed"

Hi. I received a message from you that "The page Teaching quantum mechanics has been reviewed". Can you help me understand what this message means? I've not seen it before. Johnjbarton (talk) 20:55, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

Hey @Johnjbarton, you can read Wikipedia:New pages patrol for more details. But briefly, new pages are put into a queue for a reviewer to look at and decide if a page should be nominated for deletion, moved to draft space, tagged for fixes, or marked as approved and removed from the queue. I happen to look that page and didn't see any obvious problems and was a good topic so I "approved" the page (which really just means it's removed from the queue. Myself or later editors are free to bring up problems they see.)
If it's a recent page or a very new editor I'm more like to leave a personal note. Let me know if something isn't clear or if you have any other questions! Skynxnex (talk) 23:49, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi there. I recently fixed the page for the surname Cruddas, which had been a bit bolloxed up by the fellow at IP address 2a00:23c6:4d85:3901:a4b2:ff31:d928:2c01. See my comments on the talk page for that IP address, if you are wondering at all. Just wanted to let you know, as you have made contributions there. Cheers. 144.121.24.154 (talk) 00:07, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. It'd be cool if some sourcing could be found for it. Skynxnex (talk) 02:32, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

from Th74

Thankyou for moving my second and third sandboxes. I'm a total nubie and I'm still trying to figure things out around here. I couldn't figure out how to create a second sandbox, and when I read about it, and then attempted it, nothing seemed to happen and I didn't know if it worked or not. I suppose I'll figure it all out eventually. Th74 Th74 (talk) 20:37, 30 October 2023 (UTC)

Yeah, @Th74 I understand things can be a bit tricky. I find the subpage linking documented at m:Help:Links/en and m:Help:Subpages a bit tricky to do so I tend to just use full paths in my links in my user space, often. You can always visit directly a page and start from there, so if you wanted to make say, sandbox5, in your user space you can just visit User:Th74/sandbox5 and start it by clicking on "Create source" and pasting {{user sandbox}} (see Template:User sandbox for options) at the top if you want the sandbox header. Let me know if you have any other questions. Skynxnex (talk) 14:05, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

Icetre

Hello there! would it be possible for you to help translate the page Icetre into another language per the Wikipedia translator? I am unable to do so on my end, I don't have the privileges. If you can assist with this then please let me know, thank you. Bunkytrap34 (talk) 00:50, 23 November 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Bunkytrap34, I've never used the content translation tool and am not familiar enough with any other language to feel comfortable assisting you. Sorry I can't help. Skynxnex (talk) 02:02, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
