Team Articles

Hello again. I just want to alert you that I am leaving later today to go to San Francisco for the weekend, and then school starts up for me again on Monday. So I will not be able to make as many edits during the week now as I did over these past couple weeks. What I am trying to do is, since I created all of these articles, I will try to update mostly the articles among the Pacific Division teams. I am currently trying to get up San Jose's article also; I am getting all the data and putting it in a Word Document and when it is completely filled out (as of the day that I'm putting it up), I will create that article on WikiPedia. Since I also created Carolina and Buffalo's articles, I will also try to update those articles if they are still in need of that after I do the five in the Pacific Division. In other words, I'll try not to let my jammed schedule in the coming days keep me from taking care of my responsibilities in editing these articles.

Also, I've seen the work that you've done on most of these articles, and it's rather obvious that you've spent countless hours working hard on these, and I congratulate you on a job well done to keeping all of these 2006-07 NHL season team articles accurate on a day-to-day basis. Keep up the awesome work! Ksy92003 17:17, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

New articles 'NHL team seasons'

Hello, Skudrafan1. These new articles (created by you & Resolute) are GREAT. I've voted 'KEEP' on the AFD of 2006-07 New Jersey Devils season. As I've told Resolute, not only are these articles more informative then the NHL team articles 'regular seasons' sections, but also they offer a wiki-link for shortening the NHL team articles. Wonderful idea. GoodDay 23:52, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

I suspect the biggest complaint with this article is the lack of prose. Would you be able to expand the lead somewhat to help give it a feeling of being a full fleshed article? I may try to expand it myself somewhat, but I don't see/read enough about the Eastern Conference for a proper description of this season for the Devils. I think an expanded lead will help tilt comments and !votes to the keep side in the AfD discussion. Resolute 23:55, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Edit help needed

If you could, please add John Tavares (ice hockey player) to your watchlist. An anonymous user, 209.226.172.69 continuously adds incorrect ages, data, etc.. and uses non-neutral and negative wording. Thanks. Flibirigit 17:19, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

NHL team seasons

Hello again Skudrafan1. Now that I have returned from my short trip to San Francisco last week, and now that I'm finally getting back into the routine, I have made more edits so far today than I have since December 30, 2006. Those edits have been on the team articles for the 10 teams in the Western Conference that we currently have articles for. For each of those articles, I have updated the game logs for those 10 teams. I only made the changes in the Standings and the Team Stats for Anaheim, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, since these are the four that I am always updating when I can, also because I only had to do the standing for Los Angeles and copy/paste to the other articles, since they're all in the Pacific Division. The other 6 I updated their game logs since they were starting to get a little bit behind, and since those aren't the articles that I primarily edit, it would be too hard for me to update the stats for those teams, as well. So I left them the way they are, and should I have some more free time, I may continue to update those sections of these articles, as well. I just wanted to give you an update on my work, especially the updates that I have made today. Ksy92003 16:57, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

NHL team season infobox

Borrowing from the infobox that the college football wikiproject created, I came up with a modified (and expanded) template for each NHL season here: Template:NHLTeamSeason. Please feel free to add suggestions on its talk page, and to add it to the articles. Thanks! Resolute 00:48, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Logos on NHL Season-by-Team articles?

Someone recently posted to the talk page of the 2006-07 Buffalo Sabres page asking about adding the team's logo to the page. I would like to see the logo on the page myself, but I ask whether or not such an addition would violate Fair Use. I really don't know, and I don't want to add it if it will. Please guide, if you can. Thanks! Skudrafan1 04:23, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

I added my comments. Personally, I think it would be fair use this year, as the article discusses the new logo, but would not qualify for previous or future seasons. Resolute 04:53, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

NHL Teams by Season..

Not a problem. I am pretty good in excel, and I have just had to copy/paste the stats from ESPN to the spreadsheet and basically copy/paste the Wiki code that I have it generating. The only problem, which I just realized a few minutes ago, is that some of the Goalie information may be incorrect for Goalies that have been traded during the season that have played for more than 1 team. Will need to go through to make sure that the LOSSES and OT LOSSES information are correct for those players. I am still working on updating the stats for each team. When I finish Florida, Tampa, and Washington, the entire eastern conference will be updated. Pparazorback 01:13, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Active user verification

Hello, Skudrafan1. Due to the high number of inactive users at WP:USRD, we are asking that you verify that you are still an active contributor of the project. To do so, please add an asterisk (*) after your name on Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Newsletter/List. Users without one by the next issue in 2 weeks will be removed off the list and off the respective road projects as well. If you have any questions, please contact me on my talk page. Thanks.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions 20:19, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Category Sorting

I can do that, but I observed the odd behavior a few names are showing up in reverse alphabetical order on the U.S. ice hockey bio stubs and American ice hockey players category pages. This was a small effort to help correct that on the stubs page and managed to fix the problem exhibited by this name. If you know of a better way that this can be done (correctly) please let me know. Thanks.

Also, I think you should know that the John Blue article seems to be in need of a disambiguation page. This article is not currently reachable from the Wikipedia search box.

That was fast! I try to contribute, but am still learning much, as you can tell. Thanks

Cleveland Browns roster

Thanks for adding Ricard and Krause to the Browns' roster properly. Most people just throw their names in there with no regard for formatting. I'm glad you followed the formatting that was already there. :) Wlmaltby3 05:07, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Carey Wilson

I gotta wonder this out loud to somebody... with ALL the player articles that have been created (a very good percentage of them between you and me I might add), how the heck did the Carey Wilson not already get created? I was shocked when I created the Denis Cyr article (a much less notable player), when I linked Carey Wilson to find out that it was red. Over 400 points, almost close to a-point-per game, played fairly recently. I thought we were at the point where we had to resort to creating articles for 100-gamers who played in the 40's! hahaha. Oh and by the way good luck with your Sabres against the Rangers (or Lighning if they come back) next round. Croat Canuck Go Leafs Go 01:44, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Article Improvement

By Maxim

Upon some discussion on the WikiProject talk page, the Article Improvement Drive page was revamped by Krm500 and Maxim. It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status.

Diacritics

By Maxim

In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt.

Task forces

By Maxim
There have been two new task forces started within the WikiProject to coordinate major topics.

Sweden Ice Hockey task force

This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES.

New Jersey Devils task force

This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock.

Requested Images

By Maxim
After discussion on the WikiProject talk page, Serte created a page for Requested Images. The page encourages users to license images for use on articles. The page also has section to request images for players, arenas, game situations, miscellaneous, and team and league logos. The page has been quite popular; since it was created on July 21, there have been six completed requests. There are four currently outstanding requests:

Article assessement completed

By Maxim
On July 12, Kaiser matias announced that he had completed assessing all the articles with a {{ice hockey}} tag, sorting them into Category:Unassessed Ice Hockey articles. Kaiser matias has ranked about 9000 articles in that category, and most were stubs, and "have no information at all", according to him. Everybody is encouraged to expand the stubs into real articles. This effort took around 5 months. A big thanks goes to Kaiser matias from me and all the project.
