county cats for NY highways

My suggestion: Hold off on doing that for each and every route. I've been doing it only for routes that are exclusive to one county. I won't even put Route 246 in Wyoming County because the last northern hundred feet of the highway are in Genesee County.

What I think we can do, ultimately, is split the main state highway category down into regions ("State highways in Western New York', "State highways in the Adirondacks" etc.), leaving only the long trunk routes like 5 and 22.

And within the county cats, they can go under "Transportation in X County, New York" as those get created.

Just my ideas.

Infobox order

It's very simple. Since roads are invariably considered to start (i.e., Mile 0) at their western or southern termini, we list the junctions that way too (and the counties).

Yeah, I know we've got some roads in NYS that don't fit the rule (the Thruway mainline; I'm also curious about why New York State Route 300's reference markers (in Orange County at least) run the other way). But they're usually exceptions that prove it. Daniel Case 03:44, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

NHL draft articles

Please DO NOT remove red player links from NHL draft articles, particularly in the first round. Just because there are not currently articles linking to all such players does not mean there never will be - and players like Robert Dome and JF Damphousse, while obviously not stars, did play in the NHL, and thus meet WP:BIO guidelines. Sounds fine to me. For the record I don't think that red links should be kept for players drafted beyond the first round who never made the NHL, except in special cases. Re: Your last edit to 1991 NHL Dispersal Draft

Thanks for working on that article. I just wanted to let you know, however, that your last edit which contained players drafted by SJ & MIN from other teams describes the 1991 Expansion draft, not the Dispersal draft. It looks like they both occurred on May 30, 1991, so it might be wise to just merge both into the same article, but it should be indicated which players came from which draft. Game Log goalie links

The reason for this is because of those pages, I have created the page for the Los Angeles Kings, the Buffalo Sabres, and the Anaheim Ducks. On all of those pages, I don't have any links on the goaltenders. The other pages, the Calgary Flames and the Columbus Bluejackets, were created by a different user, one who does put those links on there. We have talked about this, and he doesn't have a problem with me having a few minor differences in giving my information than he does, and the links of the goaltenders is one of those minor differences. In the future, I plan to list the team's statistics and will include all players who played with the team, including Barry Brust. I'm sorry for the confusion I gave you, but for my pages, I don't put links there, but the other user's pages (Resolute)'s pages do include that. Ksy92003 00:23, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

NYSR-NYCR Newsletter - Issue 1

The New York State and County Route WikiProjects Newsletter Issue 001 – December 2006
Intro Issue The Beatles WikiProject has been running a newsletter for some time now to great success, and, after some consideration, I've decided to launch a similar effort for the New York County Routes and New York State Routes WikiProjects. This could prove to be a very effective medium of communication between the members of the groups, and with increased communication comes the possibility of increased production. For the most part, this first issue will be a "dry run" of sorts, to work out any bugs in the system. The first serious issue with permanent sections will most likely be January's issue. Nothing as elaborate as the Wikipedia Signpost is planned, but the amount of information that will be found here will more than make up for the lack of framework.	From the Editor This is a work-in-progress and likely will be for some time. As we get settled with a format, I'll begin to make some improvements to the barebones structure and give a little more life to this page. Your feedback on the content and format of this newsletter is greatly desired. With your help, we can make the newsletter better and more informative! Don't be afraid to comment! Lastly, remember that this is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue (Issue 002 – January 2007). Any and all contributions are welcome. DOT Beat Plans to reroute New York State Route 63 in Peoria, Covington, Wyoming County (15 miles southeast of Batavia) were unveiled on December 6. The project will eliminate a sharp curve present in the center of the hamlet, rerouting NY 63 along a new alignment to the north. Details will be finalized by Summer 2007 and construction will commence in Summer 2008. NYSDOT conducted a meeting on November 29 with Binghamton-area residents about the future conversion of New York State Route 17 to Interstate 86 from Horseheads to Binghamton. Topics of note included improvements to exit 67 (New York State Route 26, Endicott) and alternatives to exit 68, an eastbound exit only leading to Oak Street in Vestal, among which was the closure of the exit. New York State Route 23A, closed from Palenville to Haines Falls since June when record rains caused a retaining wall to collapse and give way to a mudslide, was reopened on November 22. During the time that the road was closed, numerous upgrades were made, including the replacement of culverts, upgrading of drainage systems along the road and the repair of both the collapsed wall as well as the existing retaining walls. Project News Remember to vote on next month's project featured article! Articles needing cleanup can always be found at Category:New York State articles needing work. Both state and county routes needing cleanup are fed into this category. Articles on reference routes are now being created in large numbers. As a general reminder, use {{Infobox NY Reference Route}}, link to your new article on the List of New York State Reference Routes and Parkway Routes, and, if you need a reference marker made, see TwinsMetsFan or Fwgoebel. Likewise, articles on county routes are also being made in impressive numbers. When writing these articles, be sure to abide by the guidelines on the project page, to maintain a consistent feel across all of the articles. Missing shields for county routes? See TwinsMetsFan or Northenglish. County routes in New York was recently created. Pictures of actual county route shields are greatly desired and needed. Also, if possible, some additional text and history about county routes in New York State would be welcome. New York State Route 11A remains the lowest active route without an article. The lowest decommissioned route with no article is New York State Route 7C. New York State Route 52 was, unfortunately, not qualified enough for Good Article status due to a lack of references (full report). Any references that can be added to the article, particularly the history section, are greatly appreciated. There are routes still lacking mileposts. Member News One month ago today, Fwgoebel came on board to the project and, in the time since, has contributed over 50 new articles on touring routes and has added to dozens more, including helping in the effort (along with JB82 and TwinsMetsFan) to convert all usages of Template:NYSRInt to {{NYint}}. When I started doing these articles, I thought I would be able to do several teams. However, my current school schedule prohibits me from doing so. Therefore, I hereby relinquish the responsibilities for editing the Buffalo and Anaheim season articles to you, pending you keep the color scheme for the game logs as I have set them. Very well. I do understand your case. I suppose I just did what was easier for me and not what is easier for everybody else, which is what Wikipedia is for. If I want to do it my way, I can do that by myself some where else, not Wikipedia. If you wish, you may edit my articles to make the color schemes identical amongst the other pages. Thanks for your edit to my template: Colorado Avalanche seasons. What I had done was copied the data from the Dallas Stars seasons template into a Microsoft Word document to make the necessary changes to make it show the Colorado Avalanche's seasons, but I had forgotten to replace all of the "Dallas Stars" with "Colorado Avalanche". Also, thanks for editing the links of one of the seasons in the templates. I was typing too fast and I think I got the two numbers reversed because of that. I wouldn't have guessed that anybody would've looked at those in enough detail to see if there was a mistake in them, but thanks. You really helped me out, especially after all the work I've done last weekend, creating the 2006-07 Dallas Stars and Phoenix Coyotes articles, getting all of the information on all by myself, with the exception of you categorizing both articles (I still haven't figured out how to do that yet, but I'll come to figure it out in due time).
