Copyright issue with Scepterstein Records[edit]

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Scepterstein Records, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://sceptersteinrecords.com/main/index.php. As a copyright violation, Scepterstein Records appears to qualify for speedy deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Scepterstein Records has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. For text material, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source, provided that it is credible.

The same goes for the article Eloise Laws, which was copied directly from http://www.eloiselaws.com/bio.htm . Please do not paste in articles from other websites, unless you can demonstrate that the material is released under a free license. Even then, Wikipedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, so material like this would have to be seriously rewritten. FreplySpang 23:10, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright and neutrality issues[edit]

Copyright: We need to verify that you are the copyright holder for the material you posted about Eloise Laws. The message above describes two ways that you can verify this. It may be a bit of a hassle, but it is necessary to protect the intellectual property of people like yourself.
Neutrality: It's not as black-and-white as "A bio simply states the history of a person, or in our case, the history of what this artist has done." The biography you posted is full of praise for Ms. Laws: "incomparable", "distinctive vocal expressions", "her exceptional versatility", etc. Those are all matters of opinion. (I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with them - I have no opinion about Eloise Laws.) Praise like this is perfectly appropriate on a website promoting Ms. Laws or Sceptrestein Records, but not in an encyclopedia. Please see our policy on neutral point of view for more details.
In any case, I deleted the article you posted because of the copyright issue, not because of the tone or the subject. Wikipedia policies are very clear on this. We cannot accept copyrighted text unless it is released under a free license (usually the GFDL) in one of the ways described above. Regards, FreplySpang 06:30, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of SRI International Entertainment[edit]

A tag has been placed on SRI International Entertainment requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
