Assertions of subjectivity[edit]
You refer to the frequently used "Haven't you heard them?!?!" argument, and imply that genre labels are subjective.
They're not.
The argument IS a problem because, it is original research, but a genre is actually an objective construct; a genre is a set of songwriting devices used in conjunction with each other. Most of the confusion stems from the fact that the average music listener lacks a sufficient understanding of music theory to realise this (including many genre warriors) 143.92.1.33 (talk) 01:33, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
