WOW!

You are very helpful. I really am very happy to know you on Wikipedia.

You make the situation here as light as a breeze. Do you know what I mean?

I am impressed with your easy abilities. Very nice, Pat.

I hope you are doing okay.

I just attempted to upload another image. I think this will be one of the last. I don't know what exactly I am doing wrong. Templates? Anyways, The Ghost Busters was attempted and almost done, or so I thought.

If possible today, I would love if you could take a swing over to it and check it out.

Are you online now?

Strange compliment in the middle of a vandal spree

There's a thread on ANI about some serial vandalism from the University of Maryland system. In a bizarre twist the vandal has given you a compliment in his/her confession. Thought you might like to know. Toddst1 (talk) 00:56, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: block on Libsey (156.34X)

Hi. If I recall correctly there were three edits from 156.X and one from the other. If that is correct, then 156.X did not technically violate 3RR, whether they edit warred is, I guess, debatable. Cheers TigerShark (talk) 19:42, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Could you take a look at this?

I didn't want this to fall through the cracks, as the editor has been pretty busy all over Wikipedia regarding the HP thingie. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 06:23, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Scarian -- I'm reviewing this unblock request. It seems Shankbone was misleading in the report; the "old version reverted to" was actually one of the new versions. PU only reverted three times (indeed, the image PU was trying to change to was only uploaded one minute before the first "revert.") Mind if I reduce this to a warning? Mangojuicetalk 15:08, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Yamla refused the unblock so you'd have to speak to them. I blocked for edit warring and not 3RR per se. I'd be willing to take a look at the whole thing though if I didn't have access to the whole picture. Thanks for coming to me. ScarianCall me Pat! 15:11, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
It was unintentionally misleading. I don't know what that means "old version reverted to" - sometimes even I am confused by Wikipedia-speak. --David Shankbone 15:14, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

I see now from your comment to Shankbone that you were aware this wasn't exactly a 3RR violation. Yamla's right, of course, that edit warring is bad and blockable even for fewer than 4 reverts. However, I'm confused as to the unequal treatment here. Both parties reverted three times over a disagreement, but you only blocked one of them. What's more, Shankbone has actually been blocked recently for edit warring, whereas PageantUpdater has not. I don't have a lot of outside context here, but I do know I've seen Shankbone being complained about for aggressively pushing his images on various articles, and I know that a long time ago, PU ran into some trouble over non-free images but that seems to be old news. Mangojuicetalk 15:19, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Just FYI -- the warning was given to PU at 14:39, the same timestamp as PU's last revert. So PU did not continue reverting after the warning. Mangojuicetalk 15:32, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Amber chess tournament

Hi,

I appreciate your offer to mediate, and would like you to initiate it. Perhaps on a page in your user space? If user agrees, of course. Guido den Broeder (talk) 09:41, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi Scarian, thanks for your offer, but knowing the situation around Guido, I'm quite sure mediation won't do anything in this case. GijsvdL (talk) 22:07, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
I am taking it for granted that I am now allowed to edit chess articles, while user is not. Guido den Broeder (talk) 23:13, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Nej, Guido and Gijsvdl, it's your own choice on whether you edit chess articles or not but please be aware that both of your separate contributions will come under scrutiny. I have offered to mediate to prevent future blockings. If you show willingness to co-operate together and to accept peace and harmony into your lives on Wikipedia then that is very positive. By immediately dismissing my offer, Gijsvdl, you've shown that you don't want to work together. I recommend that the disputed content in question be analysed to remove any WP:POV, et al. Do you wish to do this or not? If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. ScarianCall me Pat! 15:34, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

I would be happy to see it analysed. I'd like to add, though, that IMHO it works best if chess articles are edited by chess players, stock market articles by editors knowledgable in that area, etc. If all chess players agree that it is relevant and neutral to include tournament books, then I believe they should be listened to, and not opposed by users who have never shown any interest in chess articles before, and insist that some books should be removed while other books can stay. Guido den Broeder (talk) 15:56, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Guido den Broeder

You have recently tried to mediate in the dispute between i.a. Guido den Broeder (talk · contribs) and GijsvdL (talk · contribs). Since the mediation appears to have failed, I have raised this issue on the conflict of interest noticeboard. I would like to ask you to join the discussion there, at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard#Guido den Broeder vs. others. AecisBrievenbus 22:30, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

I agree that WP:COIN is a good place to discuss this issue, and from your participation at 3RR I see you are one of the admins most familiar with the issue. I wonder if we could get Guido to voluntarily agree to refrain from editing articles or adding links to any publications he has a connection to. To back up such a proposal, it would help to have an admin who is willing to enforce an article ban. While we're not quite there yet, and would need to discuss the idea first at COIN, I wonder what you think about such an approach. EdJohnston (talk) 16:58, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but that would not be acceptable to me. Let's try to have a sensible discussion first, shall we? Besides, here is a much simpler solution that hurts nobody. Guido den Broeder (talk) 17:18, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Err... like what? ScarianCall me Pat! 17:36, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Like using the guideline. It was designed to deal with these situations, after all, and from my experience in designing guidelines, I think it's pretty well written. Guido den Broeder (talk) 17:44, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Wrong version

GODDAMNIT IM PISSED! Sorry, but I KNOW there's an article on wikimedia or something that talks about leaving the wrong version of an article up until consensus is reached. I NEED that rule as I want to cite it in this little stupid edit war I have going with this user. On the NWOAHM page. It's supposed to be a redirect to metalcore and he keeps edit warring with me. I started a conversation on the metalcore talk page, and I want to cite that rule!!!! Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:02, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I won't canvass. I don't know if I can stop myself reverting him. He is the one breaking rules, not me. You don't know the rule? DAMN. I've had that rule cited to me a few times in the past already. I can't find it, though. It states that even if you believe the "wrong version" of a page is up do not continually edit and leave it there and discuss it instead. Kind of a double edged sword since if you're the one citing that rule, how come you're not following it? But as I said, I've had users cite it to me before and I got blocked for edit warring before (as you already know) and admins told me that rule. I think the rule is stupid, because who determines which version is the "wrong version," and why should I get blocked over that when they were clearly breaking the rule as well and not leaving the "wrong version" up. But w/e. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:19, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
HA! I found it! Thank google! http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wrong_Version Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:20, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh no. It was a humor page. WTF! That is not fair! A few people cited that "rule" to me to stop me fighting with them and it turns out that it's just a humor page!? Now I'm really upset. I was duped. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:26, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the protection of that page, though, anyways. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:26, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Just curious

Did you delete the external links on the Analog hole article (only one of which I originally posted) as SPAM as an excuse for their removal or because you actually think they are SPAM? 71.100.174.134 (talk) 04:04, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

SPAM? Disruption? Block evasion?

Out class took a few minutes to discuss whether,

  1. these are trumped up excuses,
  2. our time is better spent elsewhere,
  3. to include the Wikipedia in our budget again this year, and
  4. we can achieve a permanent block for the entire domain without doing any of the above should we vote in favor of item #2 when we reconvene our meeting on Monday, April 21:00 UTC for further discussion and to take a vote.

In the interim we invite your response as an aid in helping us come to a rightful decision. Have a nice day. 71.100.174.134 (talk) 12:29, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: enigman

I appreciate you're helping your friend here, but come on. I've no idea why he would do those things, appearances matter and really I find it difficult to see past his hysterical behaviour. He certainly doesn't know policy, and if you are his friend really you should help him on this one as I won't be the last person like that he'll run into. My attitude towards him only hardened only after his own inappropriate responses, and I would suggest if he acts like that in future he'll encounter such problems quite alot. May generally be a good editor, but per his responses to me and User:Irpen (check his edit summaries too), has serious emotional and civility issues he needs to address. You commented at the active ANI on RedSpruce, now the deletion of quotes in the citations has moved to the article Melvin Purvis, this is now after 3 ANIs, and at least 2 RFCs, and a 24 hour block. The consensus at all being that using the quote parameter in citations is not cluttering the article, but is helpful in documenting the sometimes controversial information in the article. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 14:02, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Page protection.

Hey Pat. I have a question regarding an article, and thought you may be able to help me out finding what to do.
If you happen to be too busy, feel free to ignore this message for now, there is no hurry.
Although I am not all that new to wikipedia anymore, I have never really came across the issues of page protection. I have an article on my watchlist which has faced vandalism over the past weeks. The article in question is Ragnarok Online, some online game i used to play a while back. (Small explanation what this is all about here). Now, as there were only IP edits before, I have requested page protection, and the article was semi-protected for a couple of days. Yet, some seldomly used accounts kept adding the spam (my best guess would be that there is a call to do so at their forum), and IPs continued after the semi-protection was removed. Now, it is still going on on a 1-2 day basis. What would be the best way to continue on the matter? Obviously, this is not an article that should be semi-protected permanently. Still, i don't see any stop to it as long as nothing is done. Would you recommend simply requesting another semi-protection phase? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks. :) ~ twsx | talkcont | ~ 17:22, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello Pat. If you have the time; The spam on this page has started again immediately after the page protection period was over. What do you recommend? Is a (afterall minor) issue like this worth requesting the URL to be blacklisted? Thanks. ~ twsx | talkcont | ~ 13:10, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Greetings?

Hey, Pat. How are you? We haven't talked in a long time and I couldn't help but notice that the last time I tried to talk to you, I was ignored. Perhaps you don't want to speak with me anymore? Anyways, just thought I'd say hi, see if I could talk to a wikifriend. I've been doing well (actually a lot of good things have happened recently in my life) and I've been getting a ton of productive editing again, although I was blocked again =( (yup, you guessed, for genre delimiter edit warring, just like all my other blocks). A small setback. I need to be safer in the future. The editors who kept changing pages to comma breaks for no reason were eventually all reverted but I still got blocked for my early part in the reverting. It seems unfair that whoevever gets warned first for edit warring and reported first is the one who gets blocked. Those other editors did much more reverting and warring than me, but I suppose these things happen. Respond if you can (or want)! Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 23:05, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

I thought it might be unintentional. Yeah, in the future I'll try and keep that in mind. Eh, it might be my age but I happen to think it has nothing to do with it. I'm just opinionated about certain things and yeah, I do have a slight temper with people I deem...well, let's not go there. I'll definitely add you. You take care as well! New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 06:55, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Two issues I need your help with

First off, Lykantrop broke the WP:1RR rule you set for both of us. He reverted the New Wave of American Heavy Metal to his version, again. He must have done this in direct violation of what you said or he must not have understood. I'm reporting this to you now so that you may take the appropriate action. Lykantrop is not a bad user, I believe, but he has consistently refused to discuss his edits on the NWOAHM page without continually editing the NWOAHM page to his preferred version. It's not up to me whether you block him or not, but I would appreciate if you reverted his edit on NWOAHM (as I don't want to do it myself and get in trouble). I kept showing proof to him why he could not make that page and he just refused to listen. Second I have an issue on the Shadows Fall page (which I find ironic as I am not even a fan of the band). I removed thrash metal from their genres as the band has never played that style of music and User:Burningclean continually reverted me and added in a source. However, for reasons you can read on the Shadows Fall talk page, his addition was incorrect. He continues to war, though, and refuses to discuss it. Thanks for any help. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:34, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for handling both situations swiftly and with justness, Pat. I'm gonna try and gather some consensus on the Shadows Fall page so we can determine whether or not they are metalcore or thrash metal. I can see I was right to come to you instead of continuing to war. In the future I'll probably do that again, instead of warring and getting blocked. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:36, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

3RR

The problem is PiCo kept reverting, saying my edit was saying exactly the same thing, when it wasn't. So now, no action has been taken, he or she hasn't responded again to talk because he/she reverted it again for the fourth time to retain his/her preferred version (which means it still contains the unsourced error). Faith (talk) 23:00, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

This has been resolved to the satisfaction of both parties with a third opinion. Thank you Faith (talk) 11:22, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

An answer to your question

My account won't stay logged in when I am at work. I work for a credit and loan office and we have no permissions on our computers. I can't add en.wikipedia to my secure site list because I don't have proper computer permission to do so. That means everytime I go to a new page it logs me out. So I just said to hell with it. I don't edit here very much anyways because the place has too many negative users like that line break idiot. But I will plug away when I can. 99.251.226.121 (talk) 16:31, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello

Greetings! Am am the user you blocked for 1 day because of the actions on the New Wave of American Heavy Metal article. At first - I will not complain about that, cause I know you warned us on Talk:Metalcore that you would do that (I just red it too quickly and didn't get the point of it - my fault). I need some small help from you, an administrator, now. I know I did some edit war on that article. And as I am learning to contribute to Wikipedia I will not do that anymore. The point is that you told us not to change the article in any way. But that would not be edit warring. If somebody adds cources (and change the circumstances) I do not think that it is edit warring as WP:EDITWAR says. But well I still understand and accept that it is just better to discuss the whole think before ANY editing. That is what I did too. The discussion seems to be over. All arguments are solved (as I see them). User:Navnløs is just saying that there is no NWOAHM etc. and I explained it to him (particulary the discussion is running in circles, he did not show me any source after my multiple requests, his claims are original research and he is openly saying just his opinion. He is trying to find always new and new absurd arguments or is repeating his old ones). Now you can see fully reliably sourced article here: User:Lykantrop/Sandbox2. I am still opened for every improve of course. I just want you to tell me if and when can I put it there. Thanks for reading. --  LYKANTROP  19:51, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I already provided proof as other users did. Just look at the talk page on metalcore. The term is pure neologism. Besides, I'm not the one who needs to provide proof that it doesn't exist. Rahter you have to find proof that it does exist. The burden of proof is on you. My arguments are sufficient ones, which is why you find me repeating them, even though you don't seem to want to listen to them. As I said, read the metalcore talk page. Kameejl unearthed some new "proof" that the article shouldn't exist. And I did provide you sources when you asked for them. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:24, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
I response to Navnløs/Blizzard Beast on Talk:Metalcore.--  LYKANTROP  22:24, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Greetings again! Navnløs/Blizzard Beast looks like he understood it after all. And be sure that I would make no edit warring anymore. I will follow WP:1RR.--  LYKANTROP  08:45, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Re:

It isn't content dispute. It has been agreed that these articles should include the denomination, as with every other biographical article on Wikipedia and I have already warned User:WWGB not to sabotage these articles and remove the denomination. He insists on continuing to do so. Block him please, at least temporarily, because his editing is becoming very disruptive. LahoreKid (talk) 20:11, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

He is also uncivil. After warning him on his talkpage, this is how he replied. LahoreKid (talk) 20:15, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

MOS on capitalization of links to articles

Could you clarify on this edit? I didn't see anything specifically covering it at WP:MOSCAPS when I skimmed through. My impression (I could easily be wrong) has been that to the contrary, the convention is to capitalize the first letter of the article when linking to it like that. IIRC, at one point {{otheruses4}} or some similar template actually capitalized the first character of the linked title automatically. If there's been a decision to the contrary, I'd be interested to know. Thanks. —Simetrical (talk • contribs) 14:16, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your message. I was going by common sense; "file", in this instance, isn't a pronoun and shouldn't be capitalised. If I'm wrong, then fair enough. But it should've been in the 'See also' section, which I realised later on, anyway. Thanks again. ScarianCall me Pat! 14:28, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Emergency

Hey, Pat. Sorry to bother you again. On both the metalhead and heavy metal fashion talk pages I left a comment a while back that I would delete all the OR on those pages (which is basically everything). Well I tried to do just that a couple days ago. However, User:Badagnani reverted me. Now I didi it again today and him and another user reverted me. The other user left a warning on my page but when I told them what was up, the user struck out their warning and apologized. However the other user whose name I mentioned won't stop reveting me and won't discuss it. I left multiple vandalism and edit warring warnings on his page and left comments which he did not respond to. He continually reverted me even though I tried to explain. He has violated WP:3RR. He's obviously a fan of those two pages and doesn't want to see them snuffed out and warned me twice to stop blanking. That's all he ever said, though. I told him I wans't blanking and that I just deleted a bunch of OR (everything besides the intro sentence). He refuses to talk. I don't wanna revert him anymore at risk of violating WP:3RR and hurting myself. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:27, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Help, please? Thanks. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:27, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Smallville

The Smallville page is listing that Allison Mack has resigned and while it was reported by Mike Aussiello that she resigned it is not offical. Doesn't something like that have to be offical before you put it on a page. I know I have been told alot of times on here not to post something unless it is offical. Mike Ausiello is not offical he is just a reporter for TVguide.com who has already been wrong 3 times about the whole Allison Mack staying and going thing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.137.237 (talk) 20:49, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

WP:HAU has a new format

Due to popular demand, HAU has a new look. Since the changes are so dramatic, I may have made some mistakes when translating the data. Please take a look at WP:HAU/EU and make sure your checkmarks are in the right place and feel free to add or remove some. There is a new feature, SoxBot V, a recently approved bot, automatically updates your online/offline status based on the length of time since your last edit. To allow SoxBot V to do this, you'll need to copy [[Category:Wikipedians who use StatusBot]] to your userpage. Obviously you are not required to add this to your userpage, however, without this, your status will always be "offline" at HAU. Thanks. Useight (talk) 17:21, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

A lot of Vandalism on Wiki

Pat, I know you have been busy. I have been dealing with a lot of vandalism on my pages I have submitted text. I can't believe the rudeness from individuals who claim to be editors on Wiki. I had no idea how hard it is to deal with under 20s on here. The whole concept of Wiki has left me speechless.

User:Fair Deal is not what I would call a professional editor. Unappropriate messages sent by him. His page has little to add to the imagination. I find this user to be close to offensive to be an editor User:Fair Deal I find it uncomfortable, his language and attitude online. Another would be User:Indopug I just am not encouraged from what I am seeing from these two pranksters. Electric Japan (talk) 15:22, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Would you mind reviewing your block? Their posts on my userpage were misplaced messages, not harrassment, and I'm in conversation with them at the moment. Thanks. GBT/C 19:53, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

The block wasn't because of you. It was because of this and this. Enigma message 19:55, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

(ec)I realise that - I commented on the report to WP:AIV accordingly. As for the diffs, well, they were blocked for the first one, and I gave them a vand4im warning for the second one - if they're stringing me along then we'll find out soon enough. GBT/C 19:57, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
Sorry - don't know what the top bit of the edit was about - may have hit a button on my toolbar on the way to type. My earlier comment about your reviewing your block still applies, though! GBT/C 21:16, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey Pat

Just wondering if you would impart some advice to some users for me, as I'm not in the position to do so myself. Me and that user (User:Badagnani) and now another user, are having problem on the metalhead article. What do you think of the situation? I keep removing all the original research from the article, which is everything but the intro sentence per WP:OR and WP:V. I do this because I've seen users do the same thing before. Information must be verified with reliable sources, correct? I've seen other users delete almost whole articles per those policies and I reverted them in the past, only to be told that I was in the wrong per WP:V. Makes sense. Now I do the same thing and User:Badagnani doesn't seem to understand. I was hoping you could talk to him. His excuses for his reverts have been things like, "We must be thoughtful in all edits we make, and the massive blanking of basic information about...fans does not enhance these articles for our users." He also says things a lot to the effect that we must always think of the users first and should have information for them to view about subjects [even when it's wrong it seems]. I think his attitude is extremely dangerous. Yes, we must think of the users first, which is why we cannot allow misinformation on wikipedia. Things have to be verified with reliable sources, and if that means deleting a bunch of unsourced stuff, then we must do that per WP:V. I would appreciate any help on the metalhead article and with the afore mentioned user. Please correct his misunderstanding as I have repeated it a million times and he refuses to read WP:V and/or believe me. Thanks. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:25, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Also, User:Lykantrop, broke what you said again and reverted you on NWOAHM. That's a little dense, but I won't say anything more about him. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$

RyRy5 and DYK

No, I hadn't heard about the problems with his DYK and copyvio. It must have occurred in the timeframe in which I was setting up the Bowling WikiProject or the Highly Active Users project. For a while there, those two were taking up all my editing energy and I was kind of oblivious to what the rest of the community was doing. However, with those two finally on their feet, I should be more in tune with the breaking news. Thanks for letting me know. Useight (talk) 20:17, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

He just archived it, but it's all there. It was multiple DYK copyvios. I also saw your comment to him on rollback. He's now lost it three times I think and promised not to ask for it again. SteveC has also warned against it -- there's a long discussion on User:Keeper76's talk page archive as welll as it all went pear shaped there and Steve's page. Just uh, heads up what you're getting into. TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 20:56, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Four hours is borderline annoying when you've been waiting two hours...but hey, I suppose I could do more admin work on 3RR requests. Marskell (talk) 20:42, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
I think I'm the only regular admin at 3RR. Anyways, I see he's only made one revert today... Any more evidence of edit warring? I trust your judgement because you're an admin but I can't block with only one rv today... ScarianCall me Pat! 20:47, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
I was half-expecting there would be no block, given that 27 hours is not 24 hours and that (under this account anyway) he has not been blocked previously. But I was hoping, at least, for an uninvolved admin warning. He's been deleting sections on a whim for weeks. The evidence is in the history. He stays just this side of 3RR and DISRUPT—a "semi-troll," you might say—so I dunno what to do. Four reverts overtop of three editors seemed enough to bring to the noticeboard.
But you sound busy, if you're the only admin regular at 3RR! No need to wade through all of this case. I'll just have to live with the crap for the timebeing. (And geez, I do spend a lot of idle time staring at my watchlist—I'll try to look at 3RR complaints some more.) Marskell (talk) 21:09, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Thx, Scarian. Do note that you may be bombarded with hundreds of words about why I'm an asshole from the account in question. I will reply to any good faith request from you re my behaviour.
Also. if you don't want others invovled in your 3RR fiefdom, no worries! It seems like a pain-in-the-ass anyway :). Marskell (talk) 21:37, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Left comment on my page. Life.temp (talk) 23:08, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Well, Pat. If you don't want to read people's explanations, you shouldn't be warning them. People are entitled to give their view, and if you are going to threaten them, you should be willing to listen. Calling the content dispute "petty" isn't neutral or polite. An admin on admin business should be neutral and polite. Life.temp (talk) 21:31, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

An issue with academic source for article on Ozzy Osbourne

I am new to editing Wikipedia, as I think you know. I have been trying to add a reference to an academic article of interest to the article on Ozzy Osbourne. I have been blocked from putting this up a number of times by editors (suspiciously) using the exact same lines of argument against me. In reading the Wikipedia guidelines, however, it does not appear that their arguments hold up. Firstly, they cite the lack of notability of the author. However, I have argued (both in my own talk page and the discussion of the Ozzy site) that the author is 1) an academic, who 2) has published this particular article in a refereed academic journal, and 3) has been cited in independent sources (as verified by a Google search for both the author and the article in question). It seems to me that the subject of the academic article is of direct relevance to the discussion of Controversy between Ozzy and accusations of Satanism. Readers will be interested to follow up on this link that I wish to provide. Anger22 and Wikilibs have both (again suspiciously) asserted some conflict of interest as a secondary argument, but again referring to the guidelines on Wikipedia, I don't see how there could be a COI here. The article does not promote the interests of anyone in particular, but is directly relevant to the discussion of controversy on the Ozzy article. What is the problem? How can I get this resolved? I have initiated discussions on both my talk page and the Ozzy discussion, but these have not produced dialogue. I will also note that the same editors attempted to block a reference from the same author reviewing the film I Am Legend in another academic journal. The same arguments were invoked, but a third party seems to have resolved that issue by agreeing that the scholarly article is appropriate. In this context, the third party asked Anger22 to explain his assertion of COI, but Anger22 has remained silent on the issue. Thanks for your help.Wikigonish (talk) 21:28, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Khairy Jamaluddin article

I reported a continued series of unexplained removals of info from the Khairy Jamaluddin article by User:Parlimen Rembau to the 3RR notice board ([3]). However you declined to take any action noting that the situation had become stale ([4]). However if you take a look at the article's edit history, you'll see that this user has begun continually reverting again without any explanation and despite 3RR warnings on his talk page.
