Please read before you edit
Your edit on the Malapropism article was highly irresponsible. Please do not edit, even for typos and misspellings if you haven't read what you are editing.
Your edit, which was of course, marked as minor given that it was supposed to be cleaning up typos, completely changed the meaning of two examples on a list of malapropisms and made them completely non-sensical.
You also recently edited Manjung, also with the edit summary "clean up, Typos fixed". However, changing "comprised of" to "composed of" is not fixing a typo, but changing a word choice.
I understand that you are using AWB, which suggests changes for you. However, you need to carefully read the changes that are being suggested and make sure that your edit summary accurately reflects the work you have done. Adding wikilinking is not fixing typos, nor is it clean-up. Changing one word to another is not a typo fix either, nor is it clean-up.
Please carefully check your edits in the future and please make sure that your edit summaries accurately reflect the work you're doing. Miss Mondegreen talk 17:09, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

- per your request, I'm replying here and not on your talkpage. First of all, I'd like to thank you for contacting me with your concerns. I would also like to respectfully point out that I do review each and every edit I make. However, I will readily admit that I am not infallible and that I do make mistakes. I try to not let that happen, and if it does, I obviously do my best to fix them.
- With regard to the first edit, I did make a (quite obvious) mistake that I would like to apologize for. I wish I had a good reason for missing that one but, frankly, I don't. I can only assume I was distracted when I made the edit which certainly isn't a valid excuse but it is the only explanation I have. Therefore, I'd like to thank you for picking up my slack.
- Regarding the second edit and the issue of edit summaries, I trust that you've already read Wikipedia talk:AutoWikiBrowser/Typos#.22Comprised of.22 rule since you commented on Talk:AWB/T. I am not an English major but it is my understanding that the explanation given there, here and, to pick another example, here is indeed correct. Since the term is in somewhat common usage and due to the fact the it makes some sentences look a little iffy, I use that rule rather sparingly however.
- I do have to disagree with your second point though as I feel my edit summary was appropriate. Please note that I did not add a link to Manjung. Instead, I removed a self-referential link which definitely falls under 'cleanup', in my humble opinion. I also think that edit summary I configured AWB to use was appropriate as it did accurately and succinctly summarize the nature of the edit, ie. one could clearly see from the edit summary why I made the edit and specifically what type of edit was made. As I said, I don't use this regexp a lot but I am of the belief that it's common practice (and acceptable) to fix common, obvious mistakes (and that's what the WP:AWB/T ruleset is all about) without giving a detailed rationale, as those edits are for the most part self-explanatory. I would therefore argue that it's appropriate to just use the default edit summary like I did (in this case, "clean up, Typos fixed: comprised of → composed of, using AWB").

- Thanks for noticing the talk page thing. Most don't. I like conversations all in one place and I don't undersand the replying to opposing talk pages. It also makes trying to follow conversations a _____.
- Also, I didn't notice and revert you at Malapropism. ILike2BeAnonymous did. I noticed the two changes a little while later and figured that you weren't watching the page since you were AWBing, and that I should let you know.
- Yes, I've noticed that AWB typos include misused words, and words that people believe to be misused, and rare usages of words. I find this highly problematic because these are often things discussed on the talk page or used for a particular reason and because these are the types of things that people fix incorrectly. The AWB typo list is open to editing by almost any user (it's semi-protected), which means that various dictionaries and all sorts of bizarre things on google are the bases for decisions about the English language which then go into immediate and widespread affect on Wikipedia. The OED does say that comprised can be used in the passive form to the exact same effect that composed can. Anyway, this is obviously a seperate issue and I'm taking it to AWB.
- About your edit summaries, you're right about the link, and that certainly qualifies as clean-up. And while I like specific edit summaries, I understand wanting to avoid creating highly specifc edit summaries for really mundane work like this where the objective is speed. However, the edit summary was inaccurate IMO, and that's my beef with it. One change was clean-up, the smaller of the two, and the other was a word change. Even if it was a misused word, there's no way that can be classified as a typo. Just changing it to clean-up:... would have been more accurate. My personal bias is that I check edit summaries that say "fixing typo" less than I check ones that say "clean-up". Fixing a typo is highly specific, and unless the edit summary is incorrect or the person screwed up, suggests there's no need to check the article for changes. Clean-up says that it could be more--maybe word changing, formatting, etc.
- I don't have an issue with a less specific edit summary in this case, but to me, an edit summary that says that typos are being fixed when none are is misleading. I'd rather click on a few extra diffs because the edit summaries were less thorough, then miss something because of an inaccurate edit summary. Considering that the automated summary fills in specifics on changes, making the first part less specific would do no harm, and keep the edit summary more accurate. - Hi again. Well, you make a good point. I will try to tweak ABW's edit summaries a bit to be less generic. The only problem I see is that the last part (ie. "Typos fixed: x → y") appears to be hardcoded into AWB's T routine and the only way to change it would be to modify the source and to recompile from scratch. Since AWB is GPL'd and written in C#, that shouldn't be too much of a problem and I'll look into that as soon as I have time (which, unfortunately, might be a while since I'll be pretty much on a work-related (semi-)wikibreak starting tomorrow).

AfD closure templates
The correct templates to use for closing AfD's, as near as I can tell, are {{subst:at}} and {{subst:ab}}. Is there another one out there? --Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 22:46, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Dennis, sorry about just getting back to you now. Yes, those two are indeed the two standard templates. I just use some custom templates if the situation warrants it or if I have a legacy OS/VM/browser (lots of old scripts & macros, etc.) loaded. Hello, Seed 2.0. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Pulldown.JPG) was found at the following location: User:Seed 2.0/tags. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Speedy Queen Anne close
I don't think the "speedy redirect" thing ever took off. I know that speedy NAC's are generally frowned upon, but in cases like this - where as you said it was essentially a bit-for-bit duplicate - it's essentially impossible to imagine the debate closing any other way than a simple redirect. Waiting for admin closure (or the full 5 days) on something that is so crystal-clear seems silly to me, though I guess you could say I'm being a little bold in doing something that generally is a no-no. When it's highly doubtable that anyone will question the decisions, I like to stick by the idea that if there's an uncontroversial "administrative" task that a non-admin can accomplish, they probably should :) Arkyan • (talk) 18:54, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Twinkle
Just wanted to say thankyou for trying to get Twinkle fixed for me last night. I've switched back to Voice of All's script which is working fine. It means I don't have the new user warnings but that's not the end of the world, just involves more copy and pasting! I'll try Twinkle periodically as I do really like it but it's no big deal. Scriptin'

Tags incompatiblity with wikiEd.
As of now, the tags script prevents the wikiEd script from functioning. Could you please follow the instructions here to fix this problem? Paulo called worse than "poops a lot"
Dear Seed 2.0 You said that my posting about Paulo on Lost was vandalism. No, the article mentions that one journalist referred to Paulo as "Paulo Poops A Lot" due to the scene where he came out of the bathroom the one time they found a place that had one. What I added was that Paulo was referred to as Take A Shit Guy or TASG by more than just one journalist, in fact, he was called that by both admins on Aint It Cool.com (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/31869) as well as "talkbackers" (http://www.aintitcool.com/talkback_display/32065#comment_1448209) I had also seen him called by that name by posters on Television Without Pity. (http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=3152463&view=findpost&p=7484191) (http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?showtopic=3144195&pid=7489024&st=60&#entry7489024) So, I felt that the TASG name was worth adding as far more people than just one journalist called him that. Actually, the TASG name was used by more people, and probably should replace Paulo Poops A Lot due to frequency of use. Therefore, my post was not "vandalism" but an addition of a funny factoid about a much hated character. P.S. Sorry, but I had a bit of trouble posting this correctly, but I didn't change anything, I just moved this to where it belongs.
