August 2012[edit]

Hi there, you recently made some alterations to ABU Song Festivals 2012 which have been removed as they contained several factual errors which deviated from the reliable sources. Most of the errors are connected to the ESCKaz.com citation and have been removed as a result. The errors found are as follows:

  1. The ABU's 49th General Assembly which takes place between 11 - 17 October 2012. The contests both take place 14 October 2012. One during the day and one at night.
  2. The venue for both contests are also the same. This explains why the contests are taking place at different times.
  3. The ABU have published the songs on their website with options to pre-listen them. The Iranian song "Dast Afshan" has lyrics and is performed in Persian, not an instrumental track.
  4. You also wrote original research for the history section which is not permitted per WP:OR. All the details written have been sourced and are factually accurate.
  5. And finally, the number of countries is 16 for the Radio Festival. You changed it to 15 without stating why.

All these errors have been removed. If you wish to discuss this further then please open a new thread at the article's talk page before reinstating the content. Thank you. Wesley Mouse 19:57, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the date for ABU Radio Song Festival is 11th of October, and I have added two more references from the ABU website for that. Then, the venue for Radio Song Contest has not been announced, as it is a radio program, it is expected to be recorded in the same studio where Korean national final took place, not KBS Hall. Please, indicate any sources for the claim Radio contest will take place in KBS Hall. The history part is sourced to ESCKAZ. Dast Afshan is clearly instrumental song, please indicate time of it when you hear any lyrics. I have indicated that current 26 entries (which may still be extended) will be cut to 15 prior to the festival in internal semifinal meaning not all 26 will be performed in Korea but just 15. Please, study carefully the sources before reverting edits. Ruslanovich (talk) 20:09, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You clearly haven't checked all the sources then if you still believe the radio contest to be held on 11 October. Everything on the article has been sourced. There are no more entries to be selected for the radio contest. The TV one however is expected to have 12, and is currently at 6 so far. The official ABU website has several PDF files including the official rules for the contests and they even state both shows are schedule to take place on the same day at the same venue. Now I doubt an official source would get their dates wrong, do you!? As for the song, there is the possibility they may perform an instrumental version, but the only source is ESCKaz that is stating this. We need more sources to clarify a change. Also the article had been pre-drafted in my userspace first and I asked an administrator to check the article before it got moved into mainspace as an official article. All the details were checked and verified as being correct. So the sources you are relying on must not be accurate and therefore unreliable. Wesley Mouse 20:19, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to ABU Song Festivals 2012. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. Wesley Mouse 20:16, 17 August 2012 (UTC) I have struck out the vandalism caution that was issued in error the other day. Doing this now while I remember. Regards, Wesley Mouse 18:02, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

Hi, I have seen that you have strong opinion about the ABU Song Festivals 2012 article. I just want to give you the option that I can nominate the article for deletion for you. But I will however inform you that the likelyhood that the article would be deleted are slim. But now I have atleast given you the option. And just for the record I would be of a Keep opinion when checking the article out.--BabbaQ (talk) 17:35, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the offer, however, I strongly oppose the deletion of this article. The current debate in in only fact - whether Our Sound is predecessor of the ABU Song Festivals or a totally unrelated event which should not be confused with ABU Festivals. To my best understanding, there is no evidence supporting the fact those events are related - different organizers, venues, concepts, formats. There is enough of evidence confirming Our Sound being failed private initiative based on format purchased from EBU, while ABU Festivals is an independent production based roughly on the ABU Popular Song Contest which was organized by same ABU in 80th. There are no major similarities between the events. We're trying to reach consensus on the issue whether Our Sound can be listed in the "History" section as a predecessor or highly related event (proposed by Wesley Mouse) or as at maximum the contest that should not be confused with ABU Festivals (my proposal). Seeing that even established members of Wikiproject Eurovision like Wesley Mouse confuse between history and origins of these two events, I strongly suggest ABU Festivals article having minor reference to the Our Sound as event not to mix with. The Our Sound festival itself is not notable event, as it didn't went any further than couple of claims of organizers, no show has taken place in reality. This is my point, hopefully you do understand that currently it is related to the "History" section - it has to be solved before we can move further. But of course, the article itself ABU Song Festivals 2012 should stay and should not be deleted - this is a scheduled event, while Our Sound has been cancelled without taking place. I invite you rather to state your opinion in the debates on the history/origins/relations of the contest, as we terribly need an independent opinion on the sources. Thank you.
