@Apostrophectome: Usually there is a notice at the top of the article page indicating if certain parts of the article are in dispute or if it is semi-protected or protected. Another good idea if it's not clear if things are heated from notices at the top of the page is going to the talk page of an article and asking other editors for feedback on a certain edit before making it. You can also open a request for comment or if you feel confident, make your edit and provide details on it in the edit summary and be as courteous as possible - people might disagree with you, but hopefully you can work with those people to find common ground to resolve any disputes and improve the article you're working on. When you move your pointer onto a link, you get a short description of the page and, certain times, an image or an icon of the page linked. I wanted to know why sometimes the image doesn't appear near the text and how you can implement it, so it can appear.

I tried to translate part of an English Wikipedia article into the corresponding Portuguese one (a section from en:Macaw to pt:Arara) but it discouraged me from posting the edit because of vandals. I haven't vandalized anything on this account, nor was I trying to (it was a few sentences translated form the English, and I brought over citations as well). I didn't have any problem posting a translation form Portuguese to English about an ago, so I'm wondering if I have to work my way to larger edits by doing smaller things first for each language version of Wikipedia?
