Hi, would you mind having a look at Talk:Electron diffraction/GA2, especially the 1st and last comment and let us know what you think. FuzzyMagma (talk) 08:04, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

I'm travelling for the next few days so won't have much time, but if you can be more specific about what you want me to look at (i.e. I'm not sure what "1st and last comment" refers to), I'll try to take a look. RoySmith (talk) 11:05, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
The 1st comment is about the article lead, I think it’s not acceptable as it doesn’t summarise two sections of the article.
the last comment in the review is about using an entire book as a reference couple of times without indicating the specific page.
I described the problem as I see but please feel free to disagree. FuzzyMagma (talk) 12:59, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

Thank you for passing Cross-site leaks + advice wrt to FA

Hey, just wanted to say thank you for promoting Cross-site leaks, I really liked your style of reviews :)

I'm planning to take the article to WP:FAC eventually (probably not this years for IRL reasons but maybe early 2024) and I was wondering if you could give some pointers as to what kind of concerns I can expect/how I should improve the article especially since you have already gone through the process once. I also see that there aren't a lot of recent Computing featured articles (and definitely nothing from Computer Security), so I'm not sure of what to people will expect from a FA article in this area. Sohom (talk) 15:17, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

Glad I could help with the review, and thank you for responding so quickly to all my comments. As for the FA thing, that's a longer answer. I've been working on an essay about my experience; you'll need to wait for me to finish that :-) RoySmith (talk) 15:40, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of SoHo Weekly News

The article SoHo Weekly News you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:SoHo Weekly News for comments about the article, and Talk:SoHo Weekly News/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has never appeared on the Main Page as a "Did you know" item, and has not appeared within the last year either as "Today's featured article", or as a bold link under "In the news" or in the "On this day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear at DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On this day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. Artist012502

I have granted WP:IPBE to Artist012502 due to a request at UTRS appeal #81461. You don't need to view the UTRS request, it's essentially what was written at the User talk page, along with an IP address. Looking at the IP address, there's a particularly annoying sock operating from there. You wrote a page over on the other wiki about this person. However, based on behaviour and my checkuser investigation and other WP:BEANS, I think this person was innocently caught up. I'd like your opinion. If you agree, I'll extend IPBE. If not, I think we'll have to block the account. I'm pretty sure I'm correct here, though. --Yamla (talk) 01:23, 23 November 2023 (UTC)

@Yamla Yeah, their edit history doesn't look anything like the LTA I've been chasing and this is an IP where I'm not surprised there's going to be collateral damage. Extending the IPBE seems like a good plan. RoySmith (talk) 01:30, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
Excellent. Thanks for your second opinion! --Yamla (talk) 01:32, 23 November 2023 (UTC)

Roysmith, would you be willing to block Saroj32045 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) and Piusmoney (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) for sockpupettry (additional sins include UPE and attempt to circumvent AFD) who do have overlapping edits on the article? Else, would you at least block Saroj who had already received a few warnings before their latest disruption? Otherwise, I would have to write more than a few polite warnings, pretending they are good faith editors, which I'd rather not have to do. The original creator of the article also appears to be UPE but since we don't have Celestina007 anymore, I am going to try hard to forget and move on. Usedtobecool ☎️ 04:25, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for help with Guy Lombardo's DYK nomination & request for help with GA nomination

@RoySmith: Thanks for taking a look at the DYK request for Guy Lombardo. If you have some time, perhaps you might help with the Good Article Nomination for this biography as posted on the article's talk page. Lomnbardo was not only an internationally acclaimed musician and and recording artist-- he was also an active speed boat racer and sailor who consistently won several international competitions and introduced his own line of fiberglass speed boats way back in the early 1960's! He was also an impresario of lush Broadway musical revivals and extravaganzas at the landmark Jones Beach Theater (at the urging o of Robert Moses) and enjoyed arriving at the theater from his home on the south shore of Long Island on his speedboat for each performance with his Big Band. His yachts were even featured in his revival of the Sound of Music as part of the escape scene at the Von Trapp family flees the Nazis. Lombardo even arranged for Louis Armstrong and his orchestra to "float" down the lagoon at Jones Beach for an appearance in one of his productions (Marti Gras) Enjoy & happy sailing! 160.72.80.178 (talk) 22:26, 7 December 2023 (UTC)NHPL 160.72.80.178 (talk) 22:26, 7 December 2023 (UTC)NHPL160.72.80.178 (talk) 00:33, 8 December 2023 (UTC)NHPL
