That was a bit knee-jerk, don't you think? Google would quickly have told you the notability of the Ruperts. I'll attempt to pad out the article somewhat, but at worst it only merited a cleanup, not speedy. dewet| 14:57, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You hadn't mentioned the part about them being billionaires at that point, I didn't know their significance. I apologize. Rory096 18:55, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed your speedy deletion tag from this article. As the leader of a political party, that constitutes a clear claim of notability, so I stubbed it instead. Feel free, however, to nominate it for deletion if you wish. howcheng {chat} 18:06, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion and copyvios[edit]

Hi there, just to let you know that your work on speedy deletion of copyright violations is appreciated.

You should also be aware that you don't need to blank the page when you use {{db-copyvio}}, and the template {{nothanks-sd}} is better than {{nothanks}} if you are tagging a page for speedy deletion. The full text that you need to paste onto the user talk page is given at the bottom of the {{db-copyvio}} template. Stifle 19:29, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. As for blanking not being required, Wikipedia:Copyright_problems#Instructions says it is. Should I just not blank it anyway, since it's going to be deleted in a few minutes?

Thanks, Rory096 19:33, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, that seems to be changed. I never blank the page since it's going to be gone soon anyway and it will help the admin verify that the page is in fact a copyright violation without digging into the history, but it seems that that's what the instructions say. Never mind me, then... :) Stifle 19:38, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Janky[edit]

Cheers for correcting the speedy tag. I was struggling to remember the word "neologism" for a while, so put "nonsense" knowing that wasn't right. It's too late for me to be doing this I think... hehe doktorb | words 23:43, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

CSD[edit]

Neologisms, while annoying, aren't in the criteria for speedy deletion. You can put them on AfD though.--Shanel 01:20, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Chris Barrett[edit]

Take a closer look at Wikipedia:Proposed deletion: removing a {{prod}} tag isn't vandalism. You are not supposed reapply the tag when someone removes it: if you feel the article should be deleted at that point, take it to WP:AfD. —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 05:22, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you want to delete the online forum? You guys have democraticunderground.com listed. In addition, www.freerepublic.com is also listed. They are an online forum too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MikeChurch (talkcontribs)

Rory - before you can block an IP due to vandalism, you must first warn him/her. When the vandalism is blatant, you can use {{blatantvandal}} on the user's talk page. I blocked the IP and then, noticing you hadn't warned him/her, unblocked the IP and left a message for him/her. If the vandalism continues, leave a message on my talk page and I will block the vandal.
In addition, "non-notable website" is not a criterion for speedy deletion. I have AFD'd the page instead. --M@thwiz2020 21:24, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, the IP vandalized after being warned so he/she is susceptible to blocking. I was about to block the IP when another admin beat me to it. --M@thwiz2020 21:27, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, anonvandal works but blatantvandal can be used for either user names or really obvious vandalism. The message means that the IP can continue constructive edits but that he/she will be blocked if he/she vandalizes. --M@thwiz2020 21:31, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow. It's nice to know that someone can start and article, and while they step away to continue their research, not even ten minutes later the article is completely deleted. I seriously think some caution should be used in just deleting things. What am I supposed to do with the half page of material I just researched? The two examples I made? I'd appreciate a little more caution in speedying things into deletion. Why was this deleted so quickly? Ten minutes is not enough time to assume an author is finished working, and I think we should give a little breathing room in that regard. --DanielCD 05:01, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure it's deleted? I put a {{prod}} tag on it, which takes 5 days, so it couldn't possibly be deleted that fast. --Rory096 05:03, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Alas, you're right. I have no idea why that happened. Try asking UninvitedCompany, as he's the administrator who deleted it. --Rory096 05:05, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Check it out. Sorry, I assumed you did that; and I apologize in that regard. I'm going to find out WTF is going on. --DanielCD 05:05, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's quite alright, I'd be angry too. -Rory096 05:07, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey -- just wanted to let you know, I took down the speedy tag on this page; this band does seem to meet the notability requirements on WP:MUSIC. [1] is coverage of the band in Billboard magazine, and Jeff Tweedy counts as a member of a very notable band. Not that I blame you -- I'd never heard of them either! Mangojuice 17:37, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Huh, really? It isn't short for anything? If so, what? In the show it's actually, somehow, short for Lorelai, cause other main char. named her daughter after herself like guys do with junior, if short whats it short for? Ever seen the show? I assumed it was trash cause of subject matter and channel until I read a great review from favorite TV critic Heather Havrilesky on Salon.com who had same bias reported it as amazingly possessed of excellent writing and character based humor, and I agreed.. just FYI. Though last season was a little weak, this one seems better, but starting from begginning is always my preference... abc family runs reruns I think, or Netflix it. Anyway, thanks! Oneiromancer 21:19, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, it's just Rory. I'm even a guy. I've seen the show, but I don't really watch it much, no time (and I'm too busy being a Wikiholic). My brother does though. And no problem :) Rory096 21:21, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ahh, yes, I hadn't scrolled down in your user boxes that far (male), which I just did looking for country of origin, as Rory does ring a bell as a male name, but I think a british one or something? Not sure. Anyway, thanks! Oneiromancer 21:24, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's like Scottish or something, but I'm not really sure why my parents named me Rory, since I'm not Scottish at all. Rory096 21:25, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Err, did you manually crosspost to my userpage, or is there some automatic way/feature it goes there and/or I get notified new messages wherever someone addresses me? If I didn't write this *here* would you get new message post? Shrug, sorry, sure I could find manually somewhere, just noticed latest one was in both identically... Oneiromancer 21:27, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello... again[edit]

I was surprised to see you welcoming many users while I was going through the list, especially considering I just met you a day or two ago (see the xoxoth incident above). Anways, I was curious as to why you greet all users, even those who have not edited any pages. Another Wikipedian once asked me the same question, so now I welcome only new users who have edited Wikipedia (and check their edits, too, to make sure they are not vandalism). I don't have a problem with what you're doing - it's just that, if you have a legitimate reason, I'll start welcoming all users, too. Thanks! --M@thwiz2020 22:32, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It just seems like a good idea. Plus, if they see right when they join that there are people to help out when they're making/editing an article or something, then they're more likely to do it, and when they do it, it'll be more likely to be a good article, rather than some vanity page. Right now, we're giving newbies links to things helping them to create an article after they've made a useless article. We should be proactive and give them the links beforehand, so they make worthwhile edits. Rory096 22:37, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your insight. --M@thwiz2020 22:43, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey man, thanks for the welcome greeting. That's a nice thing you're doing. I'd been hanging around for awhile making miscellaneous edits here and there before I decided to finally create an account, but all those links are quite informative and I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Hi, I am writing this in regards to "Nazi Mysticism". I reverted it to a version that was actually verified by fact and more worthy of an encyclopedic entry, as opposed to presenting pseudoscientific fiction (without sources) as established fact which was the version to which you reverted back. Please read the article before reverting back to an entry which is clearly more fiction and fantasy than cited and referenced accuracy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.7.166.171 (talkcontribs) }

You did nothing but delete half of the theories, and make the others hopelessly POV. I agree that they are not true, but that's why they're theories, and not facts. And all of those theories are equally crazy, and so they deserve equal representation. In addition, we can't point out how stupid these theories are and call our statements facts, we can only refute them if we clearly note them. Things like "It has been wildly speculated" are things we can't do. Rory096 02:04, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you revert my edit? It creates an ugly table because of two picture codes that weren't finished? Another Esperanzial note...[edit]

Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".

The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.

Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

Hi Rory! You reverted an edit to Rockman Strategy and warned the editor about vandalism. In fact, the editor in question had posted about the change on the article's talk page - as we request they do. So it wasn't vandalism (although I believe it was a mistaken edit and have questioned the editor accordingly). Please be careful not to bite the newbie when vandal hunting! We need a constant supply of newbies, and they need education, not whacking! If you have any questions or need any help, please let me know on my talk page. Who decides to grant the ad running site special wiki status? —This unsigned comment is by 12.214.202.204 (talkcontribs) .

I don't know what you're talking about. --Rory096 03:28, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am talking about the Runescape link. Look at all 5 Runescape fansite links. They all sell ads. Someone wrote, only these 5 can be here. Who decide on those 5 sites that sell ads on how to get rich?

Look at your first post, now do you know what I am talking about? You seem to be the cop here, the one that pulled my link.

Who wrote the message? The one saying don't change it? For all I know, the owners of the money making site wrote it. —This unsigned comment is by 12.214.202.204 (talkcontribs) .

Consensus of editors decided to have those sites, and only those sites, on that article. I am not a cop, nor was I even involved in the original discussion. I've also seen you add your sites to other articles; please stop doing that. --Rory096 03:35, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

List of governors of Utah[edit]

I was going off what the consensus seemed to be. List of Presidents of the United States, a featured article, is titled similarly, and many of the other List of Governors were titled as such. If it should be lowercase, than all of the lists need to be moved and other similar articles need to be moved. Pepsidrinka 22:57, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What did I do?[edit]

You blanked Pornography, as shown here. --Rory096 06:22, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry. But I didn't do that. I love porn. This is a TAFE computer with lots of possible users of the IP.--143.92.1.33 06:24, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
