Choosing sources[edit]

Thanks for joining WikiProject Medicine. Your help with medical articles is very much appreciated.

On gastrointestinal bleeding you added a source (doi:10.1053/j.gastro.2011.03.048) that does not appear to support the assertions in the text that it was supporting. I couldn't find any mention of haematochezia, for instance.

The ideal sources for medical articles are recent reviews in core journals (within 5 years) or recent authoritative textbooks (e.g. Harrisson's). RCTs are not that great, because their findings depend on the population studied and might not be generalisable. Have a look at WP:MEDRS, which contains quite a lot of advice on how to select great sources. I am always happy to help! JFW | T@lk 19:40, 25 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
