images on the Fernando Amorsolo page

You have tagged these images as being under a free art license, but this is basically impossible. They would either be in the public domain or under copyright, depending on the year they were published. Can you add the date published to the image page so that we can sort this out? Also, "Personal Collection of Printed Images" is an insufficient source. Please source this to a published book or website. Calliopejen1 03:21, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Ilustrado

Hello. Thank you for creating Ilustrado. Unfortunately, I have tagged the first sentence of the article with {{fact}} because the Spanish word for "enlightened one" is not ilustrado; it's iluminado. If you can find any references to prove that I'm wrong, then add them to the article and remove the template. Thank you. --Boricuaeddie 02:02, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Good work! --Boricuaeddie 02:13, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. I've learned something from you. Perhaps you can also review (if you don't mind) the translation of a poem in the article: Fernando Ma. Guerrero. Dragonbite 02:17, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
It's excellent! --Boricuaeddie 02:20, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

DYK nomination for Hull Maritime Museum

Thanks for tidying up my nomination entry. :o)  Doonhamer | Banter  17:38, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading images/media such as Image:UN Swords into Plowshares Statue.JPG to Wikipedia! There is however another Wikimedia foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please consider creating an account and uploading media there instead. That way, all the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons. Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading! Sfan00 IMG 19:05, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Hmmm. You have a point. So, how should this image be handled/tagged despite of its source and permission from so-called photographer? - Dragonbite 02:30, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Answer on WP:PUI - cohesion 03:05, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Attribution

Just wanted to let you know, some images you tag with the {{attribution}} tag. This means that attribution is all that is required. The tags for licenses are not cumulative. For example, if you tag them {{GFDL}}, {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} and {{attribution}} a re-user could choose any one of those three they like. So, they might just choose attribution. When people license something under creative commons please do not add the attribution tag, this signifies that in addition to creative commons, people can just attribute instead if that want. For an example of the correct way to tag attribution information in a creative commons tag see Image:UNintepreterAlbertoReyesRUCarnegie.jpg.jpg. Notice his name is used as the parameter. - cohesion 03:04, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, pardon about "moving around" too much about your reply and mine. Now, can you just make this clear: is it customary to respond on my talk page or should I go to your page to reply. You know, what's the usual protocol? About the image: please suggest where we should continue the discussion/suggestion. I will follow your lead. But it seems better on my talk page then? Just kindly confirm your agreement with this. Thanks. So I know where to go or look. Sorry again. - Dragonbite 04:02, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
User talk pages are a little weird :) Different people do different things, I would say most people like to keep the whole conversation together on which ever talk page started it. I am a little more fluid with talk pages, I don't really care how they work out. I will often copy and paste both parts so that they are complete in both locations. I know that may seem odd since I just complained about something similar, but since, for talk pages, both people are informed of the discussion it doesn't cause problems. :D - cohesion 04:13, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Okay. I may consult some other uploads then? Or even prior to uploads (probably much better especially if I'm in doubt or not sure)? I am coming up with an article which may be difficult to have images (I am trying to figure out). I might consult you beforehand since I had a conversation with you also somewhere else (via email at wikimedia permissions I believe; I remember that.) Once the article is up, I'll let you know. You're very proficient about these matters. And thanks too about this advice about the use of "attribution" tags. - Dragonbite 04:20, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
...And I probably have the same issue then (like the Rico J. Puno image) about this image: Image:Hajji Alejandro Filipino singer.jpg. Better bring this up now so I could get help solving it (hopefully right away). But now, I don't know how? - Dragonbite 04:23, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi Rodsan18, I saw your comment about Ilustrado at WT:DYK. I'm a little confused by your comment. The article is still eligible and will probably be selected later tonight or tomorrow. All of us are talking about ways to make sure that all good hooks get selected. I'm not quite sure why you think anyone is suggesting that we ignore contributions such as yours; we're all trying to ensure that never happens. --JayHenry 22:38, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Philippine Mythology

Thank you so much for everything you're doing on Philippine Mythology-related topics, and for signing up to do Philippine Mythology articles. I'll contact you on this page once I get my act together (later in the week, I hope) so we can do a concerted effort, even if its on a somewhat smaller scale. (Hehe. Now if I can only figure out how to make a barnstar... hehe. Soon. Sorry if many aspects of Wiki are still kinda new to me. I'm still really just typing away and learning features as I go. Again, I have to get my act together. hehe.)Alternativity 05:03, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I'm thinking about an infobox for individual mythical creatures. Hope to come up with one soon. Maybe tomorrow, if I'm not too busy. Now, at least we can consolidate the "dispersed" articles about Philippine mythology. These "navigational boxes" are useful guides on what already exists and what doesn't. We can also re-group/revamp (as you menioned) these subjects using these "tools". Regards. - Dragonbite 05:08, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

You should request the deletion of the WP image since it is now available on Commons. Replace all uses of the image (shown under "File links" on the image page) with the Commons image. If you plan to upload more of your own photographs, consider getting an account at Commons - I didn't, and when I realised that I should have been using Commons, it was a nusance to move 20 pictures and request their deletion at WP.

Just by the way, your picture peer review was placed inside another subpage for the image of a camera lens. For picture peer review, you need to create a page entitiled "Wikipedia:Picture peer review/review name" and the copy the text onto the new page. Then you can edit the main review page and transclude it there. Thanks - thegreen J Are you green? 20:07, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Commons

It's true that there is a counter tool, but that's all it is - a counter. It does not actually do anything else. I find it useful if I upload a new file and want to replace all occurances of an old one. Yes, you can upload a file of identical name to Commons, but then it's just a duplicate (like the image on my userpage, which is also on my commons account). There is nothing automated to delete your images for you. The disadvantages of this is the fact that there are two files. Say you want to upload a new version of the file. Now you have to do it twice, whereas if you deleted the Wikipedia image you'd do it only once. Worse, if someone else uploads a new version of the file not knowing that there is a duplicate, only one version will be changed. thegreen J Are you green? 20:37, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

  • If the two have the same name, you don't need to do anything once the Wikipedia images are deleted. The commons images are available on this Wikipedia and all others, so once to copy here is deleted, the file link changes to the Commons image. If the file names are different, you are going to have to replace each occurance of the image on Wikipedia with a link to the Commons image. thegreen J Are you green? 20:51, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
