Association football, number of countries[edit]

I undid your change to the Association football page as the number of countries in the world depends on the definition of country. In FIFA, the United Kingdom does not field a team, rather England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland each have separate representation. The source used for the statement that association football is played in over 200 countries states that "at the turn of the 21st century, more than 200 nations were registered FIFA members, which is more than the number of countries that belong to the United Nations." --Khajidha (talk) 16:16, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia - Warren Truss Bridge[edit]

I noticed that a few days ago you tried to create a new article by cutting and pasting content from an existing article to a new title. This is allowed, but when you do so, our license requires that attribution is given to the original contributors of that content. It is acceptable to provide attribution by noting this in your edit summary (e.g. "content copied from <link to diff of revision containing copied content>"). If you forget to do that, the error can be fixed after the fact by making a "dummy edit" to the page to save another edit summary, or placing the {{copied}} template on the new article's talk page (see the template for instructions). Failing to attribute the source of copied content is technically a copyright violation, and users who persistently violate copyrights may be blocked from editing.

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October![edit]

In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. Captures[edit]

So, in a nutshell (and to save me reading a long Reddit thread) what is this minimum captures thing all about? - X201 (talk) 14:48, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@X201: Well it's a long story, but basically the mods removed a category from the leaderboard (min captures). While this category only has three runners, the main runner is (arguably) the most famous SMO YouTuber, Smallant1. [got mad] and a bunch of his viewers were being very aggressive to the mods, going as far as to send him death threats. After a few days, he made a Reddit post about the topic. The thing is he pinged everyone in his Discord server notifying them that he made the post, so a lot of his fans went and upvoted his post, and downvoted comments showing the opposite (I lost around 100 karma that day). Since then, the SMO discord has been flooded with Smallant viewers, and verifier and mods are still getting death threats.

November 2020[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Chad Wolf. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges on that page. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges.
