Article not accepted.[edit]
Congratulations on having a novel published. I belong to a small writers group, and its always exciting when someone has work accepted by a publisher. I knew a dear lady who had more than a dozen books published, but I never considered trying to write a Wikipedia article about her because, other than a few articles in her hometown newspaper, and press releases sent out by various publishers, she never got any media coverage, and never made a best seller list. She was very important to her friends and family, but not notable by Wikipedia standards. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that only accepts articles about people who a large number of people may be interested in. Every statement in an encyclopedia article needs to be verified by having a reliable source written by someone not connected to the subject of the article. Interviews of the person don't count, and neither do press releases from the publisher, since that's considered promotional, and not written from a neutral point of view. Unfortunately, your draft article doesn't have nay references at all. Reading Help:Your first article may help you understand more about articles that get accepted.
Perhaps later on, if your book series becomes popular, your can have a Wikipedia article about yourself, but please be aware that such an article would not belong to you. After getting it published you would never be able to edit it (though you can go to the article’s talk page and request someone else to edit it), and anyone else who finds a reliable reference about you can add to the article, even if that means adding something you don’t want added. See Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing for more information. I would never want a Wikipedia article, or any other information about me, on the Internet, but others have different ideas about publicity, and it isn't wrong to want to be on the Internet.
Best wishes on promoting your upcoming books. Karenthewriter (talk) 20:10, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
