Speedy deletion nomination of Barnaby taylor[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Barnaby taylor requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

In response to your posting on my talk page regarding the deletion of your article as a copyright violation: yes, there is a way round it. Your statement regarding the necessity to obtain permission is not, in wikipedia terms, wholly correct; ownership must be demonstrated, not averred or assumed. Thank you for your comments and guidance. With regards to copyright ownership needing to be demonstrated, would it be possible to "donate the Copyright material" to Wikipedia? Sorry, I'm working through Wikipedia's copyright policy and unsure of how to proceed with the BBC issue. I gave the material to them, with the understanding and agreement that it was not for their exclusive use (in fact, their researcher emailed me to ask if they could take the info off our site!) - I cannot ask them to remove the material from their site and can't see how I can then post it up on Wikipedia. I created it. This is a bit of an eye-opener for me on my first day here, so excuse any perceived ignorance on my part.

With regards to Conflict of Interest, I have changed my username so it is not linked with my organisation. I do, however, still have to place this biography on Wikipedia - as many visitors to our own site have mentioned the lack of Barnaby's presence on Wikipedia. I'm intrigued as to how many other composers have their biographies up on Wikipedia (which are all glowing and flattering), complete with links to publishers, their own websites and agents. How do their pages not constitute a conflict of interest? Is it merely a case of needing to change my username or more about the style of language used?
