A different kind of pope[edit]

Hello, Rankersbo. You have new messages at Rankersbo's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Erica Blatt Harkins

Hello and thank you very much for your kind message. However, somewhere it is a mistake. I never submitted the article "A Different kind of Pope" to create a page, I was simply practicing in the sand box as I did with other small writings. When I finished I pushed the save bottom that writing was supposed to disappear but it did not. I would never submit an article in that condition and without a lot of editing. Please be so kind to delete the article entitled "A Different kind of Pope". Thank you and Happy New Year.

lui (talk) 02:49, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please review again Huawei Corporation is different with Huawei technologies co. ltd. and this is why i post it to let people understand the difference. And Huawei corporation is a battery manufacturer with the known brand name call OUTDO market worldwide.

lui as I said in the review, the article you wrote does not establish this. You need sources to show this company is notable, and the article needs to make it clear what the company is and does and that it is a different company. Rankersbo (talk) 06:48, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Skip Kelly[edit]

Thank you so much for your incredibly speedy review of the article that I wrote about Skip Kelly https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Skip_Kelly! I do have his permission to use the biographical information from LinkedIn. A copy of that permission letter can be found here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/416917/Wiki.pdf. I'm not terribly fluent in Wikipedia procedures, so if there is a submission process for sending in that letter, please let me know! Paulinaperez82 (talk) 21:06, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year... I just want to say a big thank you for help with my first article when I was struggling. Because of you, many people have now edited it and it looking really great. Thank you so much for that opportunity to learn how an "encyclopaedic" article is written. Speedy deletion declined: User:Gabban232/sandbox[edit]

Hello Rankersbo. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:Gabban232/sandbox, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: I don't think blanking a user sandbox should be taken as a request for deletion - I blank mine frequently before re-using it. 19:10:21, 7 March 2015 review of submission by Phatboy12345[edit]

Hi -- thanks for the information and help in understanding why my submission was denied. It was my first Wiki submission, so I'm trying to learn more. Can you please help compare and contrast my submission to the current "For Dummies" Wiki page? Here's the link to the "For Dummies" Wiki page...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/For_Dummies

That compare-and-contrast information will help me understand how I can edit my submission to be published like the "For Dummies" is currently published.

Thanks again!

Phatboy12345 (talk) 19:10, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK Phatboy12345, I can't do too much.
  • Your page is 90% the blurb of the books, with only a short sentence setting context, the For dummies article discusses the context of those books, their impact.
  • The books listed in the for dummies article are done briefly in 7 or 8 bullet points.
  • Thirdly the For Dummies article has multiple independent sources.

Hi there, if you look at it from my perspective, I have no way of knowing that you are that author. I mean you haven't signed in today it was hard enough for me to work out who you are as a wikipedia user let alone in real life.
You can't simply publish work created for use elsewhere on wikipedia, you must be prepared to formally let go of control and rights to the work, and sometimes prove you are the original creator. Rankersbo (talk) 08:03, 24 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I saw that you were the editor who submitted this draft at AfC, though not the original creator. I fixed the sources — they're now both cited inline and documented properly — though not in time for the AfC review. I suspect it still will not pass due to the BLP issue; if you're not able or willing to find sources for those parts of the article, it might be best to delete the contentious sentences so that the rest of the article can pass muster. Since you were the user who last submitted the article, I wanted to give you a heads-up & opportunity to decide which option you wanted to take, if you want to edit or resubmit the article yourself at all. —GrammarFascist (talk) 19:38, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rankersbo, was cleaning up the tone of Draft:David Adrian Smith when you were reviewing it.  :-)     I found the newspaper source that the original author of the draft was trying to insert, but could not find the BBC source, though it does seem to exist, Smith has a clip of the BBC episode on his personal youtube site. Not sure he passes WP:42, but can you revise your comment to suggest his next steps, please? p.s. Actually, *I* already revised your comment, slightly, you had typed WP:REFBEFIN rather than WP:REFBEGIN which I figured the original author of the draft might find confusing.  ;-)     75.108.94.227 (talk) 20:06, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Confusion regarding a post from you[edit]

Hi Rankersbo,

I received a message that you'd left a message on my talk page, but I can't figure it out. It looks like you added: "Category:AfC submissions declined as not written in a neutral point of view|}} Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer.", right in the middle of someone else's comment. Also, the discussion to which your comment was added, was for an article which was accepted months ago. (my only article so far).
anyway, please let me know what I can do to help.

thanks rob RobSVA (talk) 00:21, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi RobSVA, there was a fault with the process that left those messages because it left a category on your talk page which should only have been put on the draft. I was removing that category, so your talk page doesn't show when people are looking through the list of declined articles. Rankersbo (talk) 06:18, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

AFC script cleanup[edit]

Just so you know, you can more easily fix the cleanup if you simply have AWB search for various categories and replace them with blanks. The edits look like this and the output is the same. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 00:25, 9 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I did do that for the simple cases, but I don't think that's the best approach to doing those more complex messages. But equally I don't seem to be able to set AWB to do more than one cat at once- meaning that pages with multiple declines need multiple edits. I've been using multiple find and replace cases for those. Rankersbo (talk) 06:51, 9 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright investigation[edit]

Got an alert to these four or five copyright investigations; Kent Warner Smith, Arthur Samish, Montgomery Block, Father Fitzgerald, Justin Hertman. Yes, I cut and pasted. Can I just rewrite the material? I did some of those a long time ago, and most of my work has stood up. Maybe you should check my other entries. User:Hank chapot 10/9/15

Have a look at WP:COPYPASTE. If you totally write in your own words it should be fine, but if you just paraphrase the obituaries it will still be seen as a copyright violation. Rankersbo (talk) 08:58, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

My submission has once again been declined by due to incorrect language used, but it was edited by one of Wikipedia's editor, as I asked someone on the chat forum to have a look ad edit it and they did it. I don't know David Smith personally and i am simply try to credit one of the last remaining old school sign artist that still use the old victoria way of doing things, but it seems to be so hard to get someone listed on here, specially someone that has worked with some big names and brands out there.

If it was edited to the correct language needed for Wikipedia by one of your editors, so, why it has been rejected?

Thank you Leo

Looking at the history it seems it was edited for tone after I declined it, not before. Rankersbo (talk) 14:54, 5 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
