Hi Psy guy,

I am now an administrator and would like to thank you for your support and kind words on my RfA. I was very surprised at the number of votes and amount of and kind comments that I gathered. A Message to Pro-Life Wikipedians[edit]

The section "Foetal Pain" (Fetal Pain) has been deleted from the Abortion article. Could you help restore it? If you would like to see what was deleted, go to my talk page, scroll to "Fetal Pain," and click the provided link.--Thomas Aquinas 22:28, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Psy Guy,

I'm not sure about the studies that have been conducted...I think I had a more NPOV and even more factual version on the actual abortion page before it was reverted, but I do think it is important to add that somewhere. As for your comment of Thomas' page how are you on "different sides of the issue"? Chooserr

Tzmerth shmarya[edit]

I was just putting in my opinion about it. I think it is/was notable. I guess, as you say, my vote is only 1 keep vs 4 deletes, so the community has spoken. Still makes me wonder tho, since first vote was 4 keeps vs 0 deletes. Does this then become a comulative tally? I am sure that it is a good candidate for undeletion. But I don't care enough about it to do it myself. Zordrac 00:52, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Psy guy, I question your closing of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kyle and Evan Do The Movies. You had 5 sockpuppets voting "Keep" (Xrockangelx, Kayle101, JaxShores, EarthSage14, Krou88), and one anon masquerading as a registered user ("user:Sir_Rylee", actually user:68.127.103.112). Without these sock votes, you are left with 3 "Keep", 4 "Delete", and one "Neutral". So, at best this would be a "No consensus". Since this still means keeping the article, I don't see a point in opening a request on Wikipedia:Deletion review, but in the future, please be more careful when closing an AfD; when you see a name you don't recognize, check their contribution history. If anything looks fishy, check the history page of the AfD voting page as well; as you can see here, it's not difficult to hide a sock or anon vote under another name.

Other than that, keep up the good work! Owen× 00:54, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

 • Comment: I voted keep on that page. It looked legitimate to me. I don't see why Psy guy did anything wrong there, since if sock puppets were really there, they only changed the vote from No Consensus to Keep. If you are so concerned, renominate it sometime in the future. Zordrac 02:07, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

AWWDMBJAWGCAWAIFDSPBATDMTD[edit]

I noticed that you are a member of this. I myself looked at the whole philosophies, and decided that I am this, Eventualist AND Darwikinist, but that occasionally I swing towards Inclusionism as well as Exopedianism. I am not sure how to go about putting appropriate banners on my user page to reflect that. I'd also like to change my sig to reflect these philosophies. Do you know how to do that? Zordrac 02:10, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

 • Note: I don't see why there's a problem with adopting more than one philosophy. They are not all mutually exclusive. I was unable to determine which of the 3 I was not like, as I seem to be 100% like all 3. Zordrac 02:12, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
 • What did I do wrong? [[User:Zordrac|Zordrac (Talk) Darwikinist, and [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Eventualism Eventualist]] 02:56, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
 • I don't see anything wrong with having more than one philosophy either. However, I would caution you about having a complicated signature. Some users frown on that because they take up so much space. Also, I don't know if I understand the last question: "manually copy and paste ...?" If I were you I could at least make the philosophies small in my signature and use transwiki markup rather than external links. Check out the following:
Zordractalk (Darwikinistwishy washyEventualist)
That is a little cleaner. To say you from open the edit tab, here is the code for it: Zordrac • talk <small>(Darwikinist • Wishy Washy • Eventualist)</small>
As for the "banners" .... I assume you mean the userboxed like what are the the top and right of my user and talk page. They are fairly simply to recreate. You are welcome to copy one into my sandbox and change the image and text and play around with userbox formatting if you want to. If you need help, just let me know. -- Psy guy Talk 04:02, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Okay I am confused about the banner thing, but anyway I guess I will be fine. I was happy to figure out the sig thing. Zordrac (talk) Wishy Washy Darwikinian Eventualist 05:57, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again -- Do you know if there has been some relatively recent change in how MediaWiki renders signatures? for years I have used the following in my preferences with no problem:

BCorr]]</font><font color=chartreuse>|</font>[[User talk:Bcorr|Брайен

and it generated this:

BCorr|Брайен 23:33, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

For the last couple of weeks (or possibly longer) it now generates what you'll see at the end of this post. I've tried removing the color, the Cyrillic characters, etc., and I can't even get to work with a talk page in there. Please let me know if you have any info or ideas about this.

Your help is needed....[edit]

If you can help me out, i'm having a little bit of a problem with someone about an article called RuneScape. Now you probably don't have a clue what Runescape is, but I feel your superior knowledge of Wikipedia is needed to help diffuse this situation.

Basically, the problem is that there are way too many links. Before now, there were about 30 links, and they all got cleaned out, but now about 20 have come back and I had a suggestion. My idea was to only have the top-5 websites which are universally agreed as the best and most-used websites. However, There is one person who is objecting to me, who thinks the idea is wrong. This person i feel may be bias, as he has his own runescape site. A few people are agreeing with me, but he stills feels he is right, and feels he's correct. Could you please have a look and hopefully do something please? J.J.Sagnella 23:00, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't know what to tell you here. My work with Wikipedia largely concerns vandalism. If the user is simply reverting to their preferred version and does it more than three times in a 24 hr period then the user may be violating 3RR. There are users who deal with these kinds of things. You might want to check out Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard. Someone who is more knowledgeable than me can handle the matter more efficiently than I. Troyan Monastery[edit]

Hello. I'm glad you're interested in my country and the Troyan Monastery in particular. It's located not far from where I live and I've actually visited it at least several times, but I unfortunately still don't have a good digital camera to take pictures, as my mobile's nowhere near the quality I want.

Pravoslavieto.com, a Bulgarian site on Eastern Orthodoxy, has a thorough article on the monastery in Bulgarian, which also features a relatively short summary in English at the bottom. There's also this site on the monastery, which has a lot of information on the history and relics. Nikola Gruev's page at Pbase.com has a nice gallery of the Troyan Monastery and all the photos are free to use (permission is explicitly given by the photographer).

I think I'll do some research and find some more information on the monastery we can add. Thanks for adding the picture to the category in Wikimedia Commons. → Тодор Божинов / Todor Bozhinov 19:10, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, just popping in to say I nominated your Snow Scene at Shipka Pass 1 photo at the Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons featured picture candidates. It's a gorgeous photo indeed, did you take any other pictures of Bulgaria of this calibre during your trip? What places did you visit? Best regards, → Тодор Божинов / Todor Bozhinov 15:24, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Actually, the image isn't mine; it was taken by User:Psy guy on his trip to Bulgaria. He emailed me when he returned to say that he had taken several images that fit with my theme of "Grace, Light, and Peace" (I change up the images on my user/talk page occasionally, but always pick ones that fit with that theme). I'm thrilled to see it up as a featured pic though! Essjay TalkContact 17:49, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for being so nice to clear things up, Essjay. Psy guy, as you're actually the author, I just would like to congratulate your for the incredible picture once again. → Тодор Божинов / Todor Bozhinov 18:11, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am very flattered that you liked my picture so much. I took several pictures that I think are very good (if I do say so myself). I have not got around to uploading them to Commons yet but I will. I thought Shipka Pass was beautiful and it would be hard to take a bad picture of the Balkan Mts. I emailed several pictures to Essjay because he was helping me understand the religion. That was one of the random scenery pictures that I send him and he liked it so much that he asked me to upload it. Since you like it so much I will be sure to upload more now. As an aside, are you familiar with OrthodoxWiki. There is not a lot on Bulgaria, and I am going to try to do some work there as well. You should check it out if you are interested. -- Psy guy Talk 21:13, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

St John of Rila[edit]

Hello. I'm quite confused, to be honest — as far as I know, depictions of God the Father are not common for Eastern Orthodoxy, at least I don't think I've seen any, but then again, I might be wrong. It certainly doesn't say anywhere on the icon that it is St John of Rila, although the resemblance to icons that depict him is considerable, at least in the character himself, not the background. → Тодор Божинов / Todor Bozhinov 08:42, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - don't worry about it too much - those RfBs get pretty heated and keeping cool can be quite a task :\. I do understand where you are coming from as well, as people like me spend a lot more time on wikipedia then sane people should so often edits are inflated in that way as well - and you are right as well about patrolling as well. I remember when I first become admin I did mostly patrolling as well - I later turned into more of an editor's editor but I can see how a lot people like becoming pure admins. I think often I wish people could remain prolific editors as well as admins but I realize the inherit difficulty in doing so. I called 3RR for a specific reason. I knew you were going to keep reverting to something you wanted gone which I disagreed with. You held no consensus, no talks about it, nothing. These examples of categories I pointed out are well suited within the community. You were only trying to limit the ability for readers, nothing more. ViriiK 05:50, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Psy guy. I don't really feel comfortable giving my e-mail address out to just anyone, and I really don't want to give my info out to ViriiK, no offense, but I've been stalked before and I'm a little paranoid. But as for the categories issue, I asked for help in deciding who was right in this situation, and several helpful users (including you) said that the categories should probably stay. I'm fine with that. I thought they didn't belong, since they were in the NG category anyway, but I guess I was wrong. I don't object to ViriiK putting the categories in - I just don't want to be talked to the way I was talked to above. I wouldn't mind if ViriiK's block was lifted, especially if he leaves me alone, and I certainly won't revert the category stuff anymore. Does this clear things up? However, someone in your school system is vandalizing Wikipedia. I will see what I can do to take care of this. Thanks for letting me know. -- Psy guy Talk 18:01, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

From eincrat[edit]

I am new to all of this. (Cost competitiveness of Alternative fuels is the first article I have written). I have a couple of concerns with it. Basically I am a student who is studying to become a teacher and during this process I did some research about Hubberts Peak and alternative fuels so I could do a lecture for a lesson plan. I learned a lot in this process, and I am trying to present some of what I learned to a broader audience. The primary concern I have is that I had couldn't find very reliable information when it comes down to pricing alternative fuels and I feel that the subject 'cost competitiveness of fuel sources' needs an expert's attention. I felt that I should bring this to your attention as I understand that Wikipedia has high content standards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eincrat (talkcontribs) 02:08, 30 April 2006

Out ---> Away[edit]

Thanks for making the change for me, but it wasn't quite on the money. "Out" is a standard "I've left the office for today, please leave a message and I'll respond in the morning" kind of message; "Away" is more of "Sorry, I may be in and out, but expect there will be 24-72 hour periods where I will not even be checking messages; sorry, but things are too stressful for me to hang around all the time right now." I've fixed it to reflect that anything but "In" is unlikely to get a response. Essjay (TalkConnect) 11:32, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Back from vacation? Well, glad to see you back!

Do you edit on Simple English Wikipedia more than you do here?

I am at EN and Simple about the same amount of time. My edit count for Simple is higher these days because there is just more for me to do over there. There are many more admins watching things over here than there. I haven't forgotten about EN by any means. -- Psy guy Talk 12:15, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Widescreen[edit]

Was just dropping by to let you know I fixed a bit of vandalism on your userpage on Simple, when I noticed something odder: Your talk page overflows on my screen by like an inch. Do you by chance have a widescreen monitor? Essjay (TalkConnect) 04:04, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help with the vandalism. I have been quiet popular with the vandals over there lately. My page was actually moved to User:Osama the other day! Also, yes, I do have a wide screen monitor: I have a Dell Inspiron 6000. My page looks pretty good on my screen, but I have seen it on other screen and it does look kinda bad. I really don't know how to fix that. If you have any input, I would appreciate it. -- Psy guy Talk 05:12, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

With your permission, I'll play with it and see what can be done. As for the vandals, yeah, I know, I ended up temp sysopped there tonight to deal with some. Geesh! Essjay (TalkConnect) 06:36, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are perfectly welcome to play around. Thanks for taking care of the vandals. Have fun. -- Psy guy Talk 07:13, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It was your admin toolbar. I've shortened it down some, so it doesn't stretch the page, and I don't think it cut off any text. Hope that works. :) Essjay (TalkConnect) 07:28, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please see the first edit of the Johnny Powers page, it was originally started about the alderman and someone just edited the page to be about something else instead of creating a new article. It should be left an article about the alderman. If there is another Johnny Powers, then a new page needs to be created, you can't just remove all the information from someone's entry. 75.3.5.247 02:32, 29 June 2006 (UTC);you poo Psy guy![reply]

HaHa![edit]

Hello PooPoo Face Try and get me!

I saw that you reverted the vandalism on the Tom Waits page caused by 68.6.102.218. However, if you compare his vandalism to the Waits page to the vandalism caused by another anonymous user, 24.254.82.106, you will see that they are nearly identical, and entirely too similar to be coincidental. I think it is certainly worth arguing that the same individual is behind all of this vandalism, especially when one considers that he keeps returning to the same pages: Waits, Abraham Lincoln, and Dinosaur Jr. I thought I would bring the matter to your attention. Thanks. ---Charles 04:16, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Check out the WHOIS reports: 24.254.82.106 & 68.6.102.218. They are both from Cox Communications. The IPs are most likely dynamic and the user was given different IP addresses. Notice the time difference between the vandalism episodes. I will keep an eye on them. Thanks for letting me know, and let me know if I can help you with anything. -- Psy guy Talk 14:04, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you help?[edit]

If you have the time, can you read this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Theoldanarchist#Don.27t_make_personal_attacks) and give me your thoughts on this matter? I want to hear from someone not involved in the debate who can offer an objective opinion as to the situation. Sorry I am so vague, but if you read the message on my talk page, and the reference to the Category for discussion debate therein, I think it will become more clear. I am not necessarily asking for an administrator's intervention, just an opinion. Thanks, as always, for your time. ---Charles 03:21, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please help me find the debate in question. That is a very big page. Thanks -- Psy guy Talk 12:29, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes, of course. I meant to put a link in that message, and forgot. Here it is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion#Category:Human_rights_violations_attributed_to_anti-communism Thanks again for your time. ---Charles 15:26, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Based on the above links I see no personal attacks. I am going to remain neutral because I do not know if there is any history between the two of you. I think it is in everyone's best interest just to ignore unless it actually becomes an issue. However, simply asking for clarification is certainly not calling soming a liar, it is most certainly not a violation of WP:AGF or WP:NPA. See how I made a point while still covering myself! ;-) I hope this helps. Let me know if I can do anything else. -- Psy guy Talk 03:06, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I assure you I have no history with this individual, but that is beside the point. I would not ask you to intervene, and I frankly do not believe the matter is of such importance that it merits intervention. As I said, I really only wanted your opinion. Former Jews[edit]

The same is true for Roman Catholics, but a Former Catholic category exists. It would be biased for Wikipedia to follow the rules of one religion, but not another. 75.3.49.50 03:22, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To a degree that is true. The sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation leave a mark on the soul; however, Catholicism is not an ethnic idenity. Would you think that would make at least a slight difference? -- Psy guy Talk 11:26, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You forgot Holy Orders, which also leave an indellible mark. (And if too much oil is used, perhaps an indellible stain on clothes. ;)) Essjay (TalkConnect) 11:56, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure about Holy Orders? I don't recall that from my catechesis. Also, the ordnations that I have witnessed didn't involve oil. -- Psy guy Talk
Oh, most certainly. That's why priests don't receive Annointing of the Sick in the same manner that laity do; they've already been annointed in that manner in their ordination. Holy orders cannot be removed, just like baptism & confirmation. One can be defrocked or lasticized, by which one is no longer permitted to perform the sacraments (removing the legitimacy from any sacrament performed), but one can never have the ability to perform them removed (the validity of the sacrament if performed). That's why even a defrocked priest can provide annointing of the sick, hear final reconciliation, and administer Viaticum to a dying individual if no "priest-in-good-standing" is available. Check your Catechism:
1582 As in the case of Baptism and Confirmation this share in Christ's office is granted once for all. the sacrament of Holy Orders, like the other two, confers an indelible spiritual character and cannot be repeated or conferred temporarily. (Emphasis mine)
Essjay may not find his way into the encyclopedia pages very often, but he still has his stuff. Essjay (TalkConnect) 05:18, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Essjay. I did not recall that from my catechesis. Since we were preparing for confirmation and not holy orders they may have just glossed over that fact. Thanks again. -- Psy guy Talk 14:36, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Former Jews category is the same as the Former Catholics category. The former Catholic category has atheists and converts. That is what the Former Jews category should have. But getting rid of the Former Jews category and not the Former Catholics category would be descrimination. 75.3.49.50 00:25, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Discrimination is a harsh word that shouldn't be used lightly. I see your point. I would just searching for clarification. Thanks for your help. -- Psy guy Talk 02:59, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The user named above vandalized my user page just a little while ago, and then reverted said vandalism. On 30 June, my talk page was vandalized by an anonymous user who I strongly suspected of being a sockpuppet of Xdeadclancyx---in that case, Mets501 reverted the vandalism, and I thanked him for doing so. I expressed to him at the time my suspicion that it was this clancy fellow who was responsible. At any rate, when this most recent incident occurred, I asked Mets if he could give clancy a stern warning about vandalizing other editor's user pages, not realizing he is on Wikibreak. To make a long story short (too late, I know), would you mind giving clancy a warning on the matter? I do not think it would have much effect coming from me. Fair use rationale for Image:Charles Garrett Maloney.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Charles Garrett Maloney.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

When you have a free moment, can you take a look at this user and his contributions? He created two articles today, both of which I tagged for wikification, cleanup, and referencing. However, instead of making said improvements, he simply deletes the tags. I placed a message on his talk page asking him not to delete said tags, but rather to make the improvements to which the tags refer. Instead, he deleted the tags again. Now, I am not going to risk a 3RR violation by placing the tags for a third time, so I am asking for the intervention of an administrator. I also suspect that both articles are copied from some other source, because the tone and the wording sound more like advertising than an encyclopedia article. I can find no proof of copy-vio at this point, though, so I did not tag them as such. At any rate, if you could take a look and tell me what you think I would greatly appreciate it. I have a feeling he is a new user, so he may just need some instruction. Thanks. ---Charles 18:46, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi: I'm completely unable to understand the violation of 'unblocking', whatever that means, which stops me adding to your mostly excellent entries - one I wanted to edit says Tagore got India's only Nobel in literature, but I feel that should be clarified to indicate that VS Naipaul, whom most consider an 'Indian' writer even if was born in Trinidad, did get the Nobel, I believe in 2001. Image:Reba McEntire.PNG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Reba McEntire.PNG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add Replaceable fair use disputed, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShadowHalo 04:58, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Apsa logo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Apsa logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Image source problem with Image:Apsa logo.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Apsa logo.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:01, 7 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. The goal of WikiProject Christianity is to improve the quality and quantity of information about Christianity available on Wikipedia. WP:X as a group does not prefer any particular tradition or denominination of Christianity, but prefers that all Christian traditions are fairly and accurately represented.

You are receiving this invitation because you are a member of one of the related Christianity Projects and I thought that you might be interested in this project also - Tinucherian (talk) 06:24, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
