Congratulations

You're now an admin after a nearly unanimous showing of support in your RfA. Dig in and help out with the backlogs while being conservative with the new tools at the same time. Often learning how to de-escalate is better than blocking for ex. Feel free to ask questions if you're unsure and again, congrats. - Taxman Talk 21:33, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Congratulations on your sysopping! Please use your new tools wisely. There is an IRC channel for administrators at #wikipedia-en-admins on the freenode network, in case you're interested. Cheers, --KFP (talk | contribs) 21:42, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
On an non-admin level – Finntroll, hail to your countrymen. I have just discovered them and what a great find. If all music is like that in your country, I'll be over by lunch for a beer and a bit of "Slaget Vid Blodsälv". :) – B.hotep u/t• 23:45, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Gracias

Thank you for your welcoming and congratulations on your new admin responsability. For what I read on your user page, I guess you'll perform wisely. --Soljaguar 15:21, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Jesse32083

You've left an ndefinitely blocked tag on User talk:Jesse32083, and it does seem to have been blocked but this doesn't show up in the block log. Trust this is just a temporary glitch, but thought it best to let you know. ... . dave souza, talk 17:38, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

There was indeed some kind of a glitch. A couple of blocks I made at about 15:50 UTC were somehow not recorded in the block log. Since the helperbot removed the users from AIV and re-blocking didn't work, I figured the blocks must have been successful. The block log is empty from 15:48 to 16:02 UTC, so I guess we're not the only ones who noticed the problem. Thanks for dropping me a message, however. Prolog 18:37, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Spaghetti Westerns or WikiProject Westerns

I'm thinking about a new project WikiProject Westerns or WikiProject Spaghetti Westerns dedicated to westerns. Interested? Hey congrats on adminship - I turned it down before as I didn't want the responsibility!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 19:49, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

I hve already had several people say they are interested -it would be one or the other but perhaps spaghetti western is slightly too narrow at present and we should stick to just WP: Westerns? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 20:00, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Listing WikiProject Film admins

Hello. There is a discussion about listing administrators on the Film project. If you agree or disagree, or just want to add your two cents, please comment here. Thank you. —Viriditas | Talk 23:59, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

206.130.208.126 again vandalizing

Hello. You had blocked 206.130.208.126 (Huron?) but they've again vandalized. Would you please given them the appropriate warning (I wouldn't know which) or block them again? Thanks. HG | Talk 14:01, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

External links

I have no idea what you are talking about, I have not accused anyone of spamming. I'm currently removing links to metal-archives.com because they are in violation of WP:EL but I'm not accusing anyone of spamming. You may not know it but metal-archives is a user maintained website, very much like wikipedia except that the users are not required to cite sources thus resulting in the website containing a lot of libel. The website does not improve wikipedia articles in any way and there are plenty of other reliable websites that could be linked to instead. --Leon Sword 01:13, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

By the way, the edit summary I am using is a standardized format used by Wikipedia:WikiProject Spam, of which I am a member of. --Leon Sword 01:18, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Ah, I see what you mean. I'll use a different edit summary from now on when dealing with such links. Thanks for the heads up. --Leon Sword 01:31, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, but you are asking me to go against a Wikipedia guideline. As a rule of thumb I always follow Wikipedian policies and guidelines that I know of. I'll stop removing links to the metal-archives.com for the time being but I will not re-add a link that I know is in violation of WP:EL. --Leon Sword 01:47, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I've realized that there are a lot of those links, and I'm going to be reviewing all those other links to sites like MusicBrainz, Discogs, and Purevolume as well and determine whether they meet criteria for inclusion. I'm going to review one at a time though and the first one I reviewed was metal-archives.com. --Leon Sword 06:06, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Hey dude can u plz take look at this article,I made contact with vanik in internet and he told all the info in his article in wikipedia is fake, for example: band Sad Mad Bad Lad doesnot exsit and he has never appeared as a backup drummer for System of a Down and slipknot, he wasnt born in Lebnon and and look at the Trivia of this article, its just ridiculous, look at this one "Vanik tired of the Iranian Government's involvement in every move of Kahtmayan and quit the band" yes he quit the band but not because he got tired of goverment, where are sorces of these Informations?

ArbCom

The Qiun Zhijun situation is at ArbCom, and you have been listed at a party. Please leave comments there. --badlydrawnjeff talk 13:21, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

OK fine, I'll AfD these two articles, but would you care to explain how these are not, to quote G10, a "biography of a living person that is controversial in tone and unsourced, where there is no neutral point of view version in the history to revert to"? Whatever happened to "Controversial material of any kind that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately, especially if potentially libelous"? Groupthink 07:19, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Gary Staker article

I'm writing to say I think the Gary Staker article should not have been deleted. Gary Staker was well known among football fans for about a year whilst he was Claudio Ranieris' translator who, it eventually emerged, did not know as much Italian as was necessary for the job. Him making up part of the mangers responses to post-match interview questions made him a star for a brief time for the many millions of Match of the day viewers and as such he should have an article on Wikipedia. He is also still employed by Chelsea FC as first team administrator and can be spotted weekly on television among the Chelsea coaching staff, as well as occasionally trying to break up post-match scuffles in the players' tunnel.

22.05.2007 Ok, cheers. I'm new to wikipedia, so I'm not that familiar with all the rules but I'll give it a read and try and get it to match the necessary criteria.

David Hasz article

Why was this article deleted? It needed work but he is definitely a remarkable person.

Finland

I just checked out the Finland article and I have to say - one of the best articles on a country I have seen!!!!! Its great!!! The section on the flora and fauna is a section missing from most country articles - I am currently creating a Wildlife series by country e.g Wildlife of Pakistan Wildlife of Algeria etc which I hope can be written into full articles. Feel free to stub Wildlife of Finland - I haven't got to Europe yet I'm still on Africa. The article should summarize flora , fauna, conservation , birds etc for each coutnry ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 14:30, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

HI. Oh you'd expect that from an article on a whole country - it is not as if it isn't concise -it just covers the large range of topics very well. Thanks for the encouragement on the wildlife articles -they are just few of the very important articles missing from wikipedia I hope many of the articles which have begun in list format will be turned into full written article covering nature in that country. - it surprises how many very specific topics are covered but many important still missing. The other day I started articles like Tiger hunting History of Exploration in Tibet, Conservation in Uganda and Mining in Papua New Guinea - I will be trying to cover important topics like these amidst my work on films, actors and the arts. Hey the list of films is going well anyway they are developing very well I think it has just about covered all the countries that have produced a notable amount of films -next task is to completely fill them with notable films and start the articles.

How are you anyway? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 11:16, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

I guess its just testament to the uneven way in which wikipedia has grown up. You get hundreds and hundreds of articles on characters in Japanese anime series yet an article liike Wildlife of Kenya -extremely important to an adult encyclopeia is still missing!!! We'll get there eventually but I wish we had more experts on board on the range of topics to produce some stunning articles like you see on articles on space exploration etc , many of which have been worked on by NASA themselves. Italian cinema is going well List of Italian films: 1960s is begniing to look how i'd like the lists to look but there are still tons of missing films. Kepp up the good work yourself anyway -the tagging of finnish articles has been done very well - soon hopefully well get shot of many of the stubs!! Regards ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 11:39, 28 May 2007 (UTC).

Regarding IP 64.56.141.163

You may permanently block the editing privalages of this IP. It is one massive shared IP in which, if students want to edit, they can make their own account. This will keep vandals from this end and make it cleaner. Thanks. 64.56.141.163 19:36, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for the message. We don't usually block IP's permanently, but I will keep an eye on edits made by this IP to see if a longer (up to six months) block is necessary. Prolog 00:08, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

What I added is as close as what everyone else write there. Errors are errors, there is no "ok error". If it's wrong it's wrong, so therefor it could just as well said what I wrote. CoB is just the same amout of hip hop as it is black metal GoogleMe 16:42, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

nice

Regarding the recent addition to the bad image list: So I was contemplating a long drawn out discussion to reinforce the purpose of the list as being outside of content disputes, but a revert makes the point just as well. Good call. - BanyanTree 23:39, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. Discussing is almost always good, but I decided to revert when I noticed the dispute through the ANI discussion. The legality of the image is not really a bad image list issue anyway, so it should probably be taken to COM:DEL or straight to Office. Both ways, I think, would result in keep. POTD notification

POTD

Hi Prolog,

Just to let you know that the Featured Picture Image:Peugeot 206 WRC.jpg is due to make an appearance as Picture of the Day on July 2, 2007. If you get a chance, you can check and improve the caption at Template:POTD/2007-07-02. howcheng {chat} 17:03, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Hey. Thanks for dropping me a note. The caption looks good to me besides one thing; after Rally Norway debuted this year, the Swedish Rally is no longer the only rally on snow. I'll leave a message at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject World Rally, and try to expand Juuso Pykälistö later so that it can be turned into a useful wikilink. Prolog 17:46, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I just saw the db-empty tag, noted 112 edits and four previous deletions, so it looked like time to call a halt. However, I didn't work through the history, so my bad call, sorry. I've deleted the page now so it can start from scratch. Jimfbleak 19:51, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism by User:72.39.152.86

Hey. I recently reverted a couple of articles that were vandalized by this user. The Trivium and Hollow181's user page. I see that 72.39.152.86 has gotten multiple warnings for vandalism in the recent past. You even blocked him on the 31 May 2007. Just thought I'd let you know. The strange thing is that he DOES make the occasional useful edit. What is the usual thing to do in this situation? I also warned the user, but I'm not sure if I used the appropriate template. I'm relatively new to reverting and the like... Any pointers you could give as to what I should do under similar circumstances would be much appreciated :) Fenrisulfr talk 00:58, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Hey. Thanks for the message. Since this is obviously the same user, I have blocked the IP for 48 hours due to continued vandalism and personal attacks. Maybe he/she will stick to constructive edits from now on. The warning template you used was a correct one. You might want to see WP:UTM for a collection of available templates, and WP:TW if you want extra tabs for quick warnings (and help with reverting too). Prolog 02:57, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
