A question about my denied AfC submission

Hi Chrissymad,

You declined my submission for an AfC, citing that one or more source(s) was not verifiable. I was wondering if you could tell me which of the sources was/were unverifiable? It would be a big help if you could. I was having some trouble finding sources that described the subject of my article, and literally the only source I could find simply describing the business in question was its own website. I understand Wikipedia states that this is not a verifiable source, but I have seen articles that do cite things from websites that the subject runs; one example I found was in an article for PHH Corporation, the second source listed is from PHH's own website. If one of my sources was unverifiable because of this, then could you tell me exactly what I wrote that isn't okay?

Thanks,

Barry Farah is an American businessman and motivational speaker who is a contender to be the Republican Nominee for Governor of Colorado. Mr. Farah's legal team is looking into remedies for his lack of ability to post a neutral wikipedia page. Can we please have the lawful name and address of the reviewer, as well as the name an address of their superior? Could you please provide us in-depth detail of what edits would be needed to make this article acceptable?

Regards-

Coexpert1 Wikipedia is edited by volunteers, there is no "superior" or supervisor, if that is what you mean. You should also review WP:COIDISCLOSEPAY before continuing to edit on this subject. As far as the reviewers information - as the reviewer, no I will not divulge any of my personal information nor will any others. (talk page stalker) There is a very good reason as to why she reverted your edits: they're not constructive. Why, you might ask? Let's use an example. Say, for a moment, that you're notable. I make an article on you (assuming your username is your real name), and I put "James Smith, also known as James." That is an absolutely useless clarification. It's common to refer to someone as their first name, and expressing so is needless. Furthermore, you brought it to the point of edit warring with multiple experienced editors, which could result in a block. Vermont | reply here 21:58, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

Regarding article Keerthiraj

Hello Chrissymad, Regarding your recent edit in the article: Keerthiraj, you've deleted reference citation of ′filmbeat.com′ (no.4 citation, in previous edit) and retained reference citation of same website (reference no.1, as now in article). Can you please reply the reason.. .?

Ganeshprasadkp As I've repeatedly explained these are not reliable sources sufficient for a BLP. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 16:50, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
I got it. But I meant: Two references belong to same website - ′filmbeat.com′. One is deleted, but one is not. I thought of knowing the reason. | Thank you, Ganeshprasadkp (talk) 16:54, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
That single reference is at least coverage whereas the others were just listing. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 16:56, 13 April 2018 (UTC)

I feel that over the past 4 years, there are globally established 3rd party RS's - albeit in possibly a very weird format... and it seems you were given a lot of frustration... I received notice of your submission to delete my page. I replied, though with confusion. I feel that my work has been referenced by third party sources and more than once, covering the same themes of activism, my career as an expat entertainer (and prominently so in Seoul), and having been recognized by several respected sources.

I take exception to language such as exaggerated and spam (or the equivalent), but the feedback is valuable and rather than see a confusing deletion after 4 years and my asking wikipedia to assist me, I would prefer to improve the page. I see music bands thanking me, I do know some are in Korean language....i am at a loss, but i am also embarrassed and a but stunned. My career as an activist helped change legislation and this is documented via many interviews from national press. I ask for understanding for my emotional response as my work meant a great deal and what was contributed also meant a lot to me. I feel that it is clear there is truth or factual data, not "commissioned" data. I do feel offended, but this is understood as your job. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Megamediamissus (talkcontribs) 16:56, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

18:52:57, 18 April 2018 review of submission by Abbe Rose

I am respectfully requesting a re-review. I volunteered to write the Wikipedia page for a a very active philanthropic organization in my town that does not currently have a Wikipedia page. I have had deep experience contributing to another Wikipedia page which was published so was happy to roll up my sleeves and help them out. I do not work for Modernism Week and will not be compensated for this effort in any way. I have a full time job and have done this article on my own time.

What also motivated me to volunteer was that a more recent, newly-launched, art festival in our town, with some similarities and an overlap in audience, published a Wikipedia page after their first year this past year. They are: Desert X. They are a terrific, new non-profit event in the Coachella Valley. I used the Desert X page as an inspiration and a model that had successfully published. My references represent independent journalists writing about the organization. I checked many similar festival non-profit pages. I paid attention to, and stuck with, the citation guidelines very closely. The Modernism Week organization is mentioned on the city of Palm Springs Wikipedia page as well as other pages including those of most of the Palm Springs architects. It is validated on many pages in your community except having its own page. I ask you to respectfully reconsider the publication of the article. If you feel something is missing I will be happy to add it and likewise will delete what might not reach the bar for acceptance. I am continuing to go through the article and deleting anything that is not essential to the basic understanding of the organization. I think it is pared to its core mission and activities at this point but will continue to edit it. I will add that when I launched into this effort I mistakenly and naively used what I thought would be a harmless name to correlate with my volunteer effort: MWeek. That was met with instant disapproval. I read the justification, understood it, and moved immediately to change my name. It was an error on my part to create a "handle" that would mistakenly indicate I was paid by the organization. I am not being paid and am not employed by Modernism Week. I am volunteering. I hope that this answers that question. Thank you for your time. Abbe Rose Abbe Rose (talk) 18:52, 18 April 2018 (UTC) Abbe Rose (talk) 18:52, 18 April 2018 (UTC)

Thank you. MASSPoli (talk) 14:39, 24 April 2018 (UTC)

MASSPoli I encouraged you to read COI if you have a COI. However, anyone can edit an article and the content you added (repeatedly) was little more than promotional fluff for a politician sourced to his campaign platform and not encyclopedic. I'd encourage you to read WP:NPOV. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 14:40, 24 April 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for your response. However, all the information there is factual. It is a matter of your opinion on bias. I believe that I had a NPOV with the edits as they are all taken right from the sources I cited.

MASSPoli NPOV is not my opinion. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 14:44, 24 April 2018 (UTC)

Contested deletion of Globglogabgalab

This redirect should not be speedily deleted because it is mentioned in the lead section of Strawinsky and the Mysterious House. According to Google Trends, it is searched more often in Google than the redirect target[1], and it is likely what users will search for to find out about Strawinsky and the Mysterious House. —SpanishSnake (talk) 22:58, 24 April 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Bahujan Azad Party‎

I don't want to create a whole thing with other editors on this issue, but I would invite you to the talk page to familiarize yourself with why I inserted the speedy deletion template. It is a clear violation of WP:G4. This article was already deleted. I hope you'll assist me in getting this page deleted right away. Thanks. GnarlyLikeWhoa (talk) 18:24, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

I am fully aware of speedy deletion procedures, thanks. AFD requires discussion and as it hasn't been closed, it must remain on the article. I encourage you to familiarize yourself with WP:CSD as there was no previous deletion discussion so G4 does not apply. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:25, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
GnarlyLikeWhoa Please read WP:G4 again as it clearly states: G4. Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:27, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
Keep in my mind this is a good faith effort on my part. The page was re-created after it was deleted. This is that discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bahujan Azad Party. If the appropriate period of time after that discussion was initiated had not elapsed before it was deleted, then my mistake. I was simply of the understanding that a page should not be summarily re-created, especially by a brand new editor. GnarlyLikeWhoa (talk) 18:37, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
I never said it wasn't but you're persistent badgering of editors who are very experienced (myself included) leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth when you accuse them of not understanding a long established policy or guideline but have misread and misunderstood it yourself. No hard feelings but you have to let it go through the process. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:38, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
I didn't badger anyone. I came to both you and cyberpower678 in good faith, but was a bit pointed with Winged Blades of Godric because of his/her attitude. Editors too commonly view objections to their work as bad faith, and as if they need to defend their honor. That's not what happened here. I invited editors to discuss, because I was puzzled why a new editor would be allowed to re-create a deleted page. In any case, it's not serious. I want good relationships with other editors, and to the extent I insulted you or left a bad taste in your mouth, my apologies. GnarlyLikeWhoa (talk) 18:46, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
@GnarlyLikeWhoa:. Whoa! one should not cast aspersions against new editors. And I've seen new editors recreate A7'd article that turned out to meet notability. One should not be in a hurry to delete, especially because a new user recreated a page. --Dlohcierekim (talk) 18:43, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
I took issue with the fact that the new editor did not register an objection previously. And as a new editor, I accordingly mosied on over to his talk page to welcome him. If I am mistaken about the rules, my bad. I thought I was doing the right thing, but I guess it's a learning experience. GnarlyLikeWhoa (talk) 18:49, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

"Disruptive Editing" on The Mining Industry Human Resources Council page

Hello there,

I'm a communications coordinator for the Mining Industry Human Resources Council. We are a not-for-profit organization located in Kanata, Ontario, Canada.

Our communications team is currently in the process of revitalizing our own website, and as such I thought it would be a good idea to update our Wikipedia page to better reflect our programs / content to better serve our members.

So far, I have only modified the introduction, added a brief background section and a few services. I also adjusted the sidebar to be more infomrative. Finally, I removed the old programs, MWIN and MiHR innovate, as they are very outdated and no longer in use. You have reverted these changes on the basis that they appeared promotional.

My intention is not to advertise, but to update our content so as to not mislead our members or others interested - much of the information on our current Wikipedia page is outdated, and I want our page to be the best possible reflection of our organization.

If you could please stop undoing my changes, I would greatly appreciate it.

Kind Regards,

WikiCup 2018 May newsletter

The second round of the 2018 WikiCup has now finished. Most contestants who advanced to the next round scored upwards of 100 points, but two with just 10 points managed to scrape through into round 3. Our top scorers in the last round were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with three featured articles
  • Republic of Texas Iazyges, with nine good articles and lots of bonus points
  • India Yashthepunisher, a first time contestant, with two featured lists
  • Cascadia (independence movement) SounderBruce, a finalist last year, with seventeen good topic articles
  • United States Usernameunique, a first time contestant, with fourteen DYKs
  • San Francisco Muboshgu, a seasoned competitor, with three ITNs and
  • South Carolina Courcelles, another first time contestant, with twenty-seven GARs

So far contestants have achieved twelve featured articles between them and a splendid 124 good articles. Commendably, 326 GARs have been completed during the course of the 2018 WikiCup, so the backlog of articles awaiting GA review has been reduced as a result of contestants' activities. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met; most of the GARs are fine, but a few have been a bit skimpy.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Hello Chris

How are you. I was wondering, could I get the new page review right(or auto patroll/rollback if you think I am still premature for new pages). I am thinking of going 24/7 in patroll. and I would love to do so in new pages, as you see I am familiar with most and if you'd still think I'm premature, would you give me a test run? I will go under your supervision so you'll see that everything I do is correct? cheers! KnowledgeChuck (talk) 17:25, 3 May 2018 (UTC)

Chuck your enthusiasm, as a brand new editor, is fantastic! New page patrolling is critical to the identification of WP:ATTACK pages so requires a good sense of WP:BLP policies. I wonder if you could describe in more detail how DJ JY (artist) "passes WP:GNG without any concerns" [2]? Chetsford (talk) 14:35, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Hello pal, I hope you are having a good day. The author in question of the subject has manipulatively changed the subjects name many times to avoid the salt, this I did not know, I have withdrawn my !vote and I move for a deletion. Regarding my request, I have a huge ambition and I would be honored and ethically patroll changes under your supervision with a right such as new page reviewer or rollbacker(to prevent vandalism) and to be autopatrolled. FMC issues

Hi Chrissymad, you have just reverted my change to the FMC page, concerning page issues. Can you please elaborate little bit on the talk page of the FMC why do you think that particular issue should stay on the page? Thank you and have a nice day. --AakaFosfor (talk) 16:06, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi Chrissymad, let me politely remind my question. Thank your an answer, --AakaFosfor (talk) 12:09, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
Hi Chrissymad, I've added another comment in the FMC talk page. If you do not have any more comments on the advert issue concerning the actual state of the page, I'll remove the issue. --AakaFosfor (talk) 13:46, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

Something is wrong here. It appears that you tried to tag this draft for speedy deletion, but it isn't tagged. It seems that the author keeps creating it as her user page, and then it gets moved to draft space because it is AFC-nominated, and then, and then? Robert McClenon (talk) 18:42, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

I see the problem. It was deleted from draft space, and I managed to move it from a user page back to draft space. I will tag it again. Robert McClenon (talk) 18:44, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

Raylonergan1234 (talk) 11:59, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi there! I crafted my first wiki page but was not accepted due to 'This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources.'.

I was just wondering if possible to get advice on what sources were or weren't reliable within the article, so I can replace them with more appropriate ones? OR, if it's the content rather than the sources cited that is the issue?

Page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Skillnet_Ireland

I don't want to have to change every source if some are okay and I just need to update a few of them :)

The article is for a Government agency based in Ireland, so I tried to keep the information as objective and matter as fact as possible.

Thanks, Ray Raylonergan1234 (talk) 11:59, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

Is there another step I should take or edits I should make to the article to help with possibly getting it reviewed again?
Raylonergan1234 (talk) 13:18, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
@Raylonergan1234: Thanks for the disclosure. There was a response to your post at the WP:Teahouse. In summary, your sources are not good enough to show that this organization is sufficiently notable enough for inclusion. Only in-depth writings from reliable and independent sources will be considered as evidence to gauge whether it has attracted sufficiently significant attention by the world at large and over a period of time. References that are just passing mentions aren't sufficient; press releases or interviews with employees are not considered independent and won't be considered valid. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:11, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
Drm310 Thanks for that. I will find more appropriate citations from reliable sources and re-edit the page and resubmit. Skillnet Ireland is pretty much on par with these two Irish state organisations (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IDA_Ireland / https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enterprise_Ireland) so I was trying to match their style and substance. Thanks for the help so far.

I don't know the controversy with the creator of the page but this is a notable show with enough internet hits to be sourced very well. I intend to remove the deletion tags and add many good references to make the page better. And since you have removed "tellychakkar" and "indiantelevision.com" references citing them as "exclusively wikis" is largely baseless accusations. Both are reputed "non wiki" internet news source running for more than last 17 years. Thanks JayB91 (talk) 20:09, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

Annette Lee

Please stop reverting the old pages, the article was further written by an experienced user. If you have any issues, please highlight the offending parts in the talk page thanks

Stop adding poorly sourced information and promotional material to a BLP. The person you said "reviewed" it is an editor with a conflict of interest. Do not remove the tags again. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 13:21, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
Why do you think that person has a conflict of interest? That user Rqiang84 has written many articles in the singapore online media space and although we do not know each other, from his edit history, i reached out to ask him to help look into this article in an attempt to satisfy your constant revisioning. If you could please highlight the offending parts in the talk page, it will be more helping than keep reverting. Thanks
How do you expect someone without a COI to be able to make this statement? Additionally, you need to disclose any WP:COI you may have as well. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 13:31, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
Proactively reaching out to artist to obtain photo, especially in a small country like singapore, is not uncommon and not indicative of COI. However, i have no idea about how that user came about that comment, but i will leave that user to defend their own work. Furthermore, all the statements that that user had written was factual and properly sourced. I hope you can indicate in the talk page which are the portions that you disagree with, instead of constantly reverting the pages. Thank you!
No, the content I removed was either promotional and an attempt to fluff up the article (ie. the "grammy award winning" constantly being thrown in for no reason) and the rest was not sourced or sourced to content which is not reliable. I'll note you still haven't addressed the COI issue either. Please also sign your comments. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 13:42, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
Perhaps my earlier attempts you might not have agreed with, but how about rqiang84's revision? I hope you can share specifically what are the parts you do not agree with so that it will make it easier for editors to understand your point of view. thanks.Iz55 (talk) 13:44, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
I explained it very clearly in my series of edit summaries in the history. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 13:47, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
I respectfully disagree. user rqiang84 in his/her version on 07:54, 10 May 2018 had written completely new content but you had reverted it with the comment that it is improperly sourced fluff. I wanted to highlight that this user's version of new content is not similar to the previous content that i had written and which you had also reverted. I understand we are both at an impasse but i hope you could at least look rqiang84's content over and share the insufficient parts in the talk part so that other editors can improve on it. I hope i am being respectful to you about this, you have "mad" in your username so don't wanna get into too much trouble with you :)Iz55 (talk) 13:56, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
I'll note, again, you haven't addressed the COI for yourself. What is your affiliation, if any? And as an example of one of the many issues here, can you explain how adding that someone she worked with is a grammy award winner and has worked with xyz is relevant to her? Notability is not inherited and this seems like a blatant attempt to pad the article to make her appear to be more notable than she actually is. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 14:00, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
I had addressed your comments in the talk pageIz55 (talk) 14:08, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
I am a fan of the subject, but as such, when you first tagged me as COI i had made a conscious attempt to ensure the neutrality of the article by searching out editors of other internet personalities in Singapore. I then reached out to all of them on their talk page (as also written in subject's talk page) and rqiang84 had responded. But you had still reverted rqiang84's content! I hope you can reconsider and make edits on his content instead.Iz55 (talk) 14:22, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
I hope you don't mind but i have posted a RFC. I think that will be the best way to move forward as i am sure you are busy too. Thanks so much for everything you're doing for WP. I recognise this is not personal and i respect what you are doing. Thanks so much once again. Please feel free to delete this section once you have read it. I will also stop coming to your talk page. Thanks so much!! Wish you the best Iz55 (talk) 15:30, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

Dear Mdm User:Chrissymad,

I understood that you had suspected that I might have committed a conflict of interest, due to the specific updates I have done since I had already stepped in to help out with the article and reverted my revision yesterday, which I fully respected your decision.

Although I personally went as far as getting a photo (yet-to-be approved in wikicommons due to an issue) from Annette herself soon after I had completed my said revision on the article in order to simply represent the article of the said person, so that it would at least be displayed just like any other wiki articles which I and everyone had seen at the Wikipedia website, I would like to declare that I am neither a close friend nor a promoter to Ms Annette Lee. I am merely a contributor to Wikipedia and most recently as the approved person of her permitted photo to be uploaded to the wikicommons.

For this I greatly apologies for all the inconveniences and misunderstandings caused to the administrators at Wikipedia and Wikicommons.

I would like to discuss with you what can be at best done with the said article which currently having multiple issues, and would wished to hopefully revise it upon your request but under your supervision. Thank you Mdm. Rqiang84 (talk) 11:30, 11 May 2018 (GMT+8)

As a person with no connections to Ms. Lee, or Singapore, or comedy, or music, I removed content I felt was promotional and/or not relevant, for example, naming people she recorded with in Nashville. In my opinion, what remains is a neutral article about a notable person. If the photo permissions can meet Wikipedia's criteria, it will be a nice add. And then stop, at least for a while. Reversion of Sibelius (scorewriter) revisions

I have spent some days revising and improving this article, with many citations, and organising the material into sections. I have just noted that you have reverted all of this. The merges were the result of an AfD discussion re Save Sibelius, and I note this merge has also been reverted. Can you please go into detail as to why none of the edits are ok? Thank you. Because it was largely promotional and contained significant copyright violations. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:48, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
Which copyrights were violated? Re 'promotional', the practice I have been used to is to signal the offending sections with {{advert}} rather than to delete the entire revision. Can you please point to the sections that were promotional? Chrisdevelop (talk) 18:56, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for reviewing my article on Derek Williams. While I appreciate you're still mid-review, most of the deletions you are making have now become un-undoable. For example, I note you have deleted his entire discography on the grounds that he entered all the credits on Discogs himself, however if you take a look through all 35 credits, not all are on Discogs, and you will find he entered only a few that had been missing from the catalogue. Moreover, there are many others credited on these albums, including the record companies themselves, and I have not seen any challenges made. The majority were not initiated by him, he is merely a contributor among other contributors, and those he did edit are also to be found on other catalogues such as CastAlbums, which were also listed in the Discography.

I notice you've also deleted numerous citations on the grounds that they're not directly about him, yet the full page story in the Rotorua Daily Post was entirely about him, in fact the article headline directly names him, so I am at a loss to know why that wasn't admissible in the background to his LGBT activism.

Re the Early Life part of the bio which you entirely deleted on the grounds that it was 'unsourced', as I understand it, facts such as which primary school the biographee went to don't all require to be sourced, as they're unlikely to be disputed, and it's nearly impossible to find a newspaper article about where a 5-18 year old child lived and went to school. Were that to be the case then the article would indeed become 'refbombed'. I also suggest that not every citation has to be directly about the individual, if it ties crucial facts together. For example, to place him in the White House, I had to first place the choir in the White House, and to do that, I had to go to Pat Nixon's diary for that day, and then to show from other sources that the Festival Choir Williams belonged to was there.

I added the section on his grandfather because Claud Williams himself was notable enough to have an entire chapter written about him as a notable explorer in the book Great Desert Explorers by Andrew Goudie, alongside a number of other books, and Derek Williams represented the Williams family not only at the Royal Geographical Society launch of his book, but in its research phase. He is also mentioned by name in the book acknowledgements, and in an independent review of the launch where he was the invited guest speaker, which was among the citations deleted. What I had been hoping for in the Review phase was helpful feedback, so I could make the fixes myself, and thereby avoid accidental deletions of items like the above. Hello Chrissymad. I don't understand why you declined the article 'maurice smeyers'. Can you please explain? Because this text is approved by the Dutch Wikipedia, and appears in several art historical encyclopedia (which are neutral)

Vogelsillum It is not neutral. It doesn't matter that it appears in other languages as all projects do not have the same criteria. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 19:39, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

Ryan Wilson (poet}

Thanks for looking at the article. I'm not sure what the problem was where you added the {{citation needed}} in this edit, but the quotes are definitely in the source cited (http://www.literarymatters.org/ryan-wilson-our-editor/). Let me know if I've misunderstood your intent there. --RexxS (talk) 18:45, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

RexxS As I responded on the TP, yeah you've misunderstood. Clearly it's stated there but it's a primary source, on his own companies website about him being praised by someone. It's the equivalent of me saying "Chrissymad is brilliantly witty" said Jesus H Christ, award winning director and then linking back to my own website that quotes it. Find the actual source. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:47, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
It's not a primary source. Biographies are almost never primary because they collect together previously published material, which is how we define a secondary source. It's not his company. He merely works for the Association of Literary Scholars, Critics, and Writers, which is a reputable, notable publisher. Your webpage doesn't have a Wikipedia article, which is where the analogy breaks down. --RexxS (talk) 19:04, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
It's published on his own companies terribly laid out website with no source for it. I fail to see why you can't provide an actual source for the statement praising his work outside of his own website.? CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 19:11, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
The aesthetic of the Literary Matters website isn't for you or me to comment on, nor does it affect its reliability one jot. May I assume you'd be happier with the parent institution's website at http://alscw.org/publications/literary-matters/ ? I fail to see why I need to find the primary sources quoted by a reliable secondary source. If you don't agree that Literary Matters is a reliable source for its information about Wilson, it would probably be best to raise the issue at WP:RSN, where it could receive other opinions. --RexxS (talk) 19:23, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
Just a (talk page stalker) note: given their status as literary reviewers (i.e. they have Wikipedia pages) and the reliability of the source Chrissymad is contesting, I'm not so much concerned if they said it, but the question that immediately comes to mind is "where did Jarman and Pinsky say these really nice things?" In that aspect, Chrissymad does have a point, because I could say that Neil deGrasse Tyson reviewed my physics article and found it groundbreaking, but if there is no "primary" location for that comment, do we really know it was said? Is it just citogenesis?
I guess my point is that the references raise more questions than they ask. On the other hand, I don't think either of those glowing reviews is really necessary to include in the article, but it's not necessarily a hill I'm going to die on. Primefac (talk) 13:01, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
So what I'm hearing is a cite to a source where they say this would be extraordinarily nice.-- Dlohcierekim (talk) 13:29, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
I agree with much of what you say, Primefac, and remembering that I didn't write Wilson's article (I just copied it out of Ottava Rima's talk page for him), I wouldn't have chosen to include those quotes either – I would have summarised. You would really have to ask Ottava where the original quotes were made, assuming he looked at the originals, rather than relied on the ALSCW to be accurate. Nevertheless, I still think that some notable poets praising Wilson is noteworthy in the article; and because Wilson is only borderline notable, IMHO, that reference is valuable to indicate notability. --RexxS (talk) 13:36, 17 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi Chrissymad, I've just seen that you have declined an article I've authored on Kastus Technologies on the basis that its sources lack notability. The note left on the page stated that "Wikipedia requires significant coverage (not just mere mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject". At the minute, I'm struggling to see how the sources fail to meet these criteria. There has been significant coverage of the topic across nearly every major Irish print newspaper, which themselves are reliable and secondary sources. There is also a scientific journal, which is an independent peer-reviewed journal verifying the properties of Kastus' product. Other sources include articles published by DIT, Ireland's largest Insititute of Technology. If these sources aren't suitable enough, then please help me by letting me know what is. Thanks for any help you can give me. Caileam Raleigh (talk) 13:05, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) @Caileam Raleigh: Many of the sources used in the article appear to be just press releases from the company, or an interview with Browne. Is there any coverage that wasn't generated by the company? Even the report in nature.com has Browne as one of its authors. Wikipedia looks for other third parties to have actively noticed a company, which is what our notability policy is aiming for. I ought to add that the report does not meet WP:MEDRS, so can't be used to support claims of efficacy for the product. You won't be able to claim that "Kastus’ Log4+ product is proven to eradicate the growth of 99.99% of harmful bacteria ..." without a decent secondary medical source. Hope that helps. --RexxS (talk) 13:55, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

@RexxS: Hi, the sources listed are independent of the company and not press releases. As for the Nature article, John Browne is listed as an author as he provided assistance in developing the microbial testing and providing materials preparation during the actual experiment as it states at the bottom, however he did not author any of the article. For an article to be published by Nature.com, it must be independently peer reviewed. Caileam Raleigh (talk) 14:59, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

@Caileam Raleigh: They simply don't look like independent coverage: they look like the sort of stuff a PR company feeds to news media (what we call "churnalism"). That is why reviewers are asking for "published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject". I also strongly recommend you read Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources (medicine) because you don't seem to understand the difference between "peer-reviewed" and "secondary" sources. --RexxS (talk) 15:07, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

@RexxS: One of the news sources listed is RTE, the state broadcaster in Ireland, which obviously would not accept PR sourced articles. However, I understand your hesitance over the other sources but they are simply not PR articles. The subject of this article has made quite a splash in Ireland with the potential implications that its product might have for a vast array of areas and this can be verified by reading the company's profile of the Enterprise Ireland website (a government body overseeing business in Ireland) and Dublin Institute of Technology's website. I have had a look at the Identifying Sources page and I do not see how I have breached any of its guidelines. Also, as a journalism graduate, I am well aware of what churnalism is.

Caileam Raleigh I'm sorry but several editors disagree with you and the AfD combined with the multiple declines by multiple editors indicates to me that the issues haven't been adequately addressed as appropriate sourcing doesn't appear to exist. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 15:32, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

Hello, Chrissymad. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Baltimore City Council District 1".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Legacypac (talk) 08:25, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Please let me know what specific references on 'Draft Pierre de Lauzun' are not adequate. This is a translation from the French Wikipedia; All references comme from there.
Thank you in anticipation

List ow wars involving Turkey

The reference is the article itself Cyprus crisis (1955–64). Check the article. Jazz1972 (talk) 18:21, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Jazz1972 You cannot use Wikipedia as a reference, ever. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:23, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

The article is saying something. What is the artcile is saying? The same apply to the list of wars involving Cyprus that you have changed. I can add all the reference of the article. However the articles are to be in harmony between them, in the first placeJazz1972 (talk) 18:30, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Then cite it with a reliable source. You cannot use wikipedia as a source. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:32, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

You need to do it now, since you have changed it already 2 times and I can not change it, a third time in a row, in a short period of time, since then you can accuse me for edit war. It is very simple. We shouldn't even having this discussion. The article is saying something and is properly referenced. All articles in relation with it, should be in harmony with thatJazz1972 (talk) 18:36, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Jazz1972 No, the WP:ONUS is on you since you are readding contested content by several users and citing a source which is not appropriate. You got yourself into an edit war with several editors by adding unreliable sources and not discussing it. Wikipedia can not be used as a source. I'm glad to see that you know you are edit-warring but just because 24 hours may lapse does not mean you can revert it. You either need to discuss it on the talk page and find a reliable source or leave it alone. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:39, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

The source is appropriate, since it is the article itself. Find me any other war in the articles that you are constanlty changing, that are based in any other references outside of the articles. Which are the several editors and how is an edit war since I haven't passed the limit.? How you can changed it with out talking it in the talk page? Who is reverting my edits and how this is excused? I will revert it on my own time with 5 proper sources, and then we will be discussing it in the board.Jazz1972 (talk) 18:57, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Jazz1972 You're free to restore it provided at the time you do so you have the appropriate sources referenced in your edit. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:58, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
Jazz1972, it does not matter if the source is in another article. Each article must be self-supported by it's own references. If you have reliable sources to support the content you are trying to add, that's great. At this point, you should post them, and the content you are trying to add, to the talk page of the article so other editors can look them over. This way, the edit war will not continue. 16:40:13, 22 May 2018 review of submission by Dr S Black

Hi there! Thanks for reviewing my article. Could you please indicate which parts of it read like an advertisement so that I can amend it? I have read it so many times now, and I edited it after it was rejected the first time, but to no avail. All I can see are facts that I have stated about the organisation, and I can't see where I have gone wrong. This is my first time writing an article for Wikipedia, so I would really appreciate more specific guidance on what to change, as I am now at a loss as to what to do next. Many thanks! 19:44:33, 22 May 2018 review of submission by DJKlypso

Hello. I am a very green wikipedia user! I have made some edits to the submission in hopes that it will read more objectively. After reading your review I can understand why it was rejected. I am also looking for more reference links but it is difficult to find information online as many of Klypso's career milestones occurred before the great social media wave. Do you have any other suggestions? Wikipedia can be a great tool and I am hoping to learn more about the submission process. Thank you for your help.

EnterMedia DB

Hello Chrissymad, I have been trying very hard to keep EnterMedia DB as an article but you deleted it. I have asked for help and I get no advice except criticisms and I would like help. Please let me know how I can edit the article so Wikipedia can grow. And how do I get access to my article again? I can't even edit it now. Please help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jcambron (talkcontribs) 15:58, 23 May 2018 (UTC)

Juventutem

Hello Chrissymad,

You wrote "Hello, I'm Chrissymad. I noticed that you made one or more changes to an article, Juventutem, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so!"

Yes, it is true. I made 40(?) changes to this article, updating Juventutem's article on Juventutem's birthday. I am not sure which change you're saying lack a "reliable source." If you want to identify that change here, I'm glad to add in a reliable source for that change. Otherwise, I'm just going to revert the whole article to its corrected form.

GiovanniBosco Adding lists of Facebook links is not encyclopedic. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:29, 24 May 2018 (UTC)

The lists of Facebook links were pre-existing. Look at the history. As of yesterday, there was a list of Facebook links that was largely out-of-date. I have updated the entry to include a list of websites (including Facebook links) that is more up-to-date.

GiovanniBosco (talk) 18:42, 24 May 2018 (UTC)GiovanniBosco

There should be one external link to their website, not a list of FB. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:44, 24 May 2018 (UTC)

Your reversion made the entry worse, not better. It is "encyclopedic" (vis. "the ordered presentation of all information") to point the Wikipedia user to all of the various teams that are carrying out Juventutem activities. The resource that you linked to ("Help:Referencing for beginners") does not offer any contrary definition of "encyclopedic."

GiovanniBosco (talk) 18:55, 24 May 2018 (UTC)GiovanniBosco

GiovanniBosco Actually it wasn't and it was copied directly from their website. Please also review WP:COI. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:58, 24 May 2018 (UTC)

... any way, have a nice day. Whether there are lists or not, your reversion still undoes the other grammatical corrections and updates that I had entered.

NPR Newsletter No.11 25 May 2018

Hello Praxidicae, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

ACTRIAL:

  • WP:ACREQ has been implemented. The flow at the feed has dropped back to the levels during the trial. However, the backlog is on the rise again so please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day; a backlog approaching 5,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.

Deletion tags

  • Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders. They require your further verification.

Backlog drive:

  • A backlog drive will take place from 10 through 20 June. Check out our talk page at WT:NPR for more details. NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.

Editathons

  • There will be a large increase in the number of editathons in June. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.

Paid editing - new policy

  • Now that ACTRIAL is ACREQ, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. There is a new global WMF policy that requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.

Subject-specific notability guidelines

  • The box at the right contains each of the subject-specific notability guidelines, please review any that are relevant BEFORE nominating an article for deletion.
  • Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves with the new version of the notability guidelines for organisations and companies.

Not English

  • A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, tag as required, then move to draft if they do have potential.

News

  • Development is underway by the WMF on upgrades to the New Pages Feed, in particular ORES features that will help to identify COPYVIOs, and more granular options for selecting articles to review.
  • The next issue of The Signpost has been published. The newspaper is one of the best ways to stay up to date with news and new developments. between our newsletters.

Raymond Neutra Draft

Thanks for the feedback. I edited the wording and resubmitted. This is my first Wikipedia article, and would appreciate any additional feedback to have it ready for publication. Jsbmhca 717 (talk) 19:20, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
