AIV vs VIP[edit]
Hi Powella. I noticed you added an entry to Vandalism in Progress. That page is only for very specific cases, as described by the page's guidelines. Your alert would be better placed on Administrator intervention against vandalism (WP:AIV), where it will usually be processed within minutes. Many alerts that are incorrectly placed on Vandalism in Progress are never dealt with, simply because they become old before an administrator gets to them. Question on newcomers help desk[edit]
I read what was written on the talk page, and from what I can see, there is no message there saying that the article is not to be commented on. Perhaps you and I are interpreting Jerry Picker's message differently. Either way, almost all articles are collaborative. The only pages that aren't are special pages and pages that are temporarily locked due to edit wars. And talk pages should never be locked.
As to whether or not you should edit the page, an important rule to remember is be bold, don't be afraid to edit the page if you feel something isn't right. There is no authorship on Wikipedia, you are just as much an author of that page as everyone else. But having said that, try to avoid edit wars, and your use of the talk page certainly helps. If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask on my talk page.- Akamad 02:45, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

- No problem. I responded on the discussion page already. Do you like the suggested changes? If this were my website, I would force the table widths or add line breaks to certain places, but with wiki, the styling should be up to the user or web page that is incorporating the content. So I am not quick to make those types of changes here. That said, we can change the wording. I have no problem with that. I hadn't heard back form you on the last proposal so I didn't use that one but fear that long school names will always be a problem. Andrew Powell 18:46, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Message regarding your use of the No Multi License Template[edit]
In case you are not aware, the Wikimedia Foundation has proposed that the copyright licensing terms on the wikis operated by the WMF – including Wikipedia – be changed to include the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA) license in addition to the current GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) as allowed by version 1.3 of the GFDL. The community has approved this change with 75.8% in favor, and on June 15, 2009, the change will take effect.

On or before June 15, this template will be changed to reflect Wikipedia's new licensing terms. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]
Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized).
