If you're here because you disagree with my correction of "comprised of" on an article, Giraffedata has done a wonderful job of demonstrating why "comprised of" is incorrect.

Infobox[edit]

I don't have too much experience with infoboxes, but I fixed it[1]. I just copy and pasted one that worked and plugged in the values. Yanksox 21:49, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks much. I think I know what the problem was now. Porlob 13:53, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:20060823 ut bookbattle 0823~1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:20060823 ut bookbattle 0823~1.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Punctuation[edit]

I reverted on Chris Wallace (journalist) to restore the information that ChaseMaster had deleted. The reversion also undid your punctuation edit to the preceding section. You moved the comma to conform to American usage, but WP style follows the usage more common in British English, of "logical" placement of quotation marks. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Quotation marks. JamesMLane t c 16:03, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to Halo[edit]

You reverted my revert, which had fixed further damage (blanking of the Plot section). So I reverted your revert that accidentally reverted my revert. Hope you don't mind! :) --Erik (talk/contrib) @ 21:45, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:AGLogo2C PMS.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:AGLogo2C PMS.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:57, 7 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Need a neutral pair of eyes, please[edit]

Porlob, I would like to ask you to take a look at Ex-Mormon again. It has been the subject of graffiti, under the guise of not having citations. The article has 44 citations to date, more than any article that length that I can find on Wikipedia, but recently when I visited it was littered with "citation needed" tags on just about every sentence. Hopefully, you can look at it and give some advice as to whether it needs more citations or whether it has enough. I can understand if you'd rather not be involved. It gets messy sometimes. But I'd like to ask somebody who is neutral to look at it. Sure appreciate it. Greenw47 (talk) 19:52, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Adventures of Robin Hood.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Adventures of Robin Hood.png. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 16:00, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV inputs to the articles 1831 polygamy revelation and 1843 polygamy revelation would be greatly appreciated. The 1831 polygamy revelation article in particular is receiving a lot of attention since its appearance on the DYK section of the main page, and many recent editors appear to be fixated on endowing it with a particular POV and deleting relevant cited information from reliable sources. If you are knowledgeable about this subject, please feel free to edit these articles yourself, or invite other editors to do so. Écrasez l'infâme (talk) 22:55, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genetic disposition to aortic dissections[edit]

I noticed a comment you made on the aortic dissection topic a couple of years ago. i hope you have been abke to find some information on it in this timeframe. my family has Marfan's syndrome, which amongst other things has a high rate of aortic anneurisms, and aortic dissections (I myself have been unfortunant enough to have one). If you'd like any further information on this please contact me at dartybh@bigpond.com 124.182.94.95 (talk) 16:15, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Change of one of your edits[edit]

Thanks Porlob for taking an interest in the grammar on the Deborah Berry page. I am writing thought to inform you that I did use the correct use of comprised which means includes whereas your use of composed means to write or create. Although I can see where the similar words can be confusing so I simplified the wording by replacing your wording is composed with includes.

"Comprised of"[edit]

I am new as a Wiki editor and learned something new from you (Wp:Lists_of_common_misspellings/Grammar_and_Misc) Thanks. RifeIdeas Talk 18:23, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

1st point Why did you cut my post in half?
2nd point I looked back and seen that you posted a explanation for "comprised of" edits at the top of your page 2 minutes before my post. As an explanation I had looked at your page, then used an editor to compose my message. I am not an english major and had to look up the word descriptions in a dictionary, changed the Deborah Berry page and then posted to your page without seeing your new post (my bad timing). Thanks though for the link "comprised of" is incorrect, it explains it well. Although if you read the section on Alternative Phrasing (I expect you have) there are 7 examples listed for use depending on what the sentence needs to say. I just hope you are not using a blanket use of "composed of". Another note, in the Word Net Browser the down loadable dictionary from Princeton University, "compose" has the following senses, write, pen, indite, compile, calm (as in emotions), frame, and draw up (as in make up). These senses do not show a use of "includes" which is the choice I made, similar to "consists of" (the 2nd choice in the Alternative Phrasing). Checking Word Net for "comprise" the senses are, consist, incorporate, contain, constitute, represent, and make up. These senses closer represent the meaning I needed for my sentence.
LAST WORD after all this research I do agree my use of "comprised of" was flawed and my editing skills have been elevated.

This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Xenomorph (Metroid) listed at Redirects for discussion[edit]

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Xenomorph (Metroid). Since you had some involvement with the Xenomorph (Metroid) redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 07:21, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
