A tag has been placed on File:Cuarteto Carlos Chávez-Carlos Chávez Quartet.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Carlos Chavez String Quartet[edit]

Hi, I see you've been busy editing Carlos Chavez String Quartet. Please don't alter the date in the {{unreferenced}} template as you did in this edit. Your edit made it appear that this article has only been without references for a couple of weeks. In fact, it's been almost seven years!

Which leads me to my next point. I can't find any indication that this quartet is notable, either under its current name or the earlier claimed name Russian American Quartet, and ought to have a Wikipedia article. I'll look around some more, and I encourage you to add some references that show notability. I suggest you read WP:MUSBIO to see the type of factors support a claim of notability. English-language sources are preferred, but given this ensemble is Mexico-based, if you have only Spanish-language sources, please feel free to use them.

I will circle back in a week or two, and if there are no sources indicating notability, will list it at WP:AFD for deletion. TJRC (talk) 03:31, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello to the Editors of Wikipedia: I am unfamiliar with the Wikipedia infrastructure, meaning that I don't know exactly where to post this, but I hope this message finds its way to the person who has revised my page. I just have to comments about the Carlos Chavez Quartet page. In response to the "blatant copyright infringement" charge regarding the photo image of the quartet, I can assure you that this image is my personal property as it was taken with my camera and has been authorised to be published on the page by the other quartet members. And two, Mr. Eeekster has some reservations about the quartet's claim to notability. I can only respond that if a chamber ensemble has produced 9 recordings of important music, most of which pertains to the musical culture of Mexico AND that the Mexican government has deemed the ensemble noteworthy enough to bestow upon it 6 important grants to further these cultural projects then I do not see why our claim to have a page in Wikipedia can be contested. True, the Wikipedia IS an encyclopaedia BUT in difference to the written book it is a living and evolving document to global human culture and should retain the flexibility and open mindedness that is required in today's world culture. Sincerely, Alain DURBECQ

Proposed deletion of Carlos Chavez String Quartet[edit]

The article Carlos Chavez String Quartet has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This ensemble does not appear to be notable. I can't find much about it, other than routine schedule and discography info, under either its present name or its prior name, Russian American String Quartet. Lots of hits for Carlos Chavez String Quartet, but the vast majority of them are for string quartet compositions written by composer Carlos Chávez (i.e., a "Carlos Chávez string quartet", not the ensemble "The Carlos Chavez String Quartet").
The sole reference in this article is to the liner notes of the ensemble's own CD, not a source independent of the subject.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
