Thank you for your message. You misunderstand what I did with the Zacharia entry. Just because information is sourced does not mean it belongs in an encyclopedia entry. For example, one of the things I removed was a blog post from psychology today taking issue with Zakaria's apology. I did this because the alternative would have been to include the many articles and blog posts that praised the apology. Since reactions to an apology for a transgression are very minor, it seemed to me that they could best be left out to avoid cluttering the article. Reason for Deletion[edit]

Hello, I wanted to follow up with you regarding a notice of pending deletion for content I posted yesterday. I am the Digital Marketing Manager for enVista, the subject of the article I submitted. The original content I introduced was deemed too much like an advertisement (with the inclusion of quick facts qabout our success). I have since removed those items. Also, I was notified that the post resembled the content on our website too closely. I wanted to confirm, as I did several days ago, that I am responsible for managing our online content/property and have granted permission for reuse. Please contact me directly with any additional questions and/or concerns. Thanks, John — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmeehan (talkcontribs) 12:36, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

spaces[edit]

I've come across a number of articles about Indian politicians that you have created. Could you please remember to add a space after periods and commas. Also, use "and" at the end of a list, example: Member of parliament in 1927, 1929 and 1931. Bgwhite (talk) 23:05, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are still not adding spaces after periods and commas. Please follow basic English rules. Also, it is ref and not reF. Bgwhite (talk) 09:03, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your message and for bringing up this issue. and sorry for my delay in replying. What would suggest I use for particularly when it is repetitive in nature while creating articles for Members of Parliament in in Sri Lanka and India or universities or newspapers which I plan to in large numbers and also for referencing.Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 15:41, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not aware of anything that would help create multiple articles. I know some people have done their own programming to create an article from one particular source, which is not your case. The best thing I can think of is that you have a template. Copy-paste the template into a blank article and fill in the rest. Sorry, I can't think of anything. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User talk:TIRUPATIDARSHANPACKAGE requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Reason for recreating the section[edit]

Hello My last edit of the section "Sri Lanka Policy" under "Rajiv Gandhi" was rejected by you . My edit was based on the following reason : This section is wholly biased against Rajiv Gandhi and reports about incidents like an attack on him than his Sri Lanka Policy. History should not be distorted- the attack on him happened after signing of accord. But it appears as though it happened after IPKF operation ended. It needs complete cleanup. There is a mention of a "police action" that was unpopular in India and Srilanka whereas IPKF operation was military. What I edited were existing text from "IPKF" article in Wikipedia only, but you seem to think just because more was removed than added it is improper. What is there now seems completely biased and historically inaccurate. Crazybunga (talk) 04:06, 8 July 2012 (UTC) CrazyBunga[reply]

Thanks & a Question[edit]

Thank you for the message. I will look at those links in a bit. =)

I signed up partly because I found a red link with my name from an anthology I'm in, where I'm listed as "Bartholomew von Klick." I thought I'd make a small page about myself, but I'm not sure if this is frowned on or not. I have about 4 or 5 sources that I think meet the notability requirement, but is making a page about myself considered bad form?

Thank you very much,

Bartholomew M Klick (talk) 23:04, 10 July 2012 (UTC) Thanks for your message on my talk page. Please go through Wikipedia Autobiography. It is discharged and page may be deleted. But I do not know you who are it is allowed if you are really clear cut case.Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 23:16, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That makes the decision a lot easier. I think an unbiased page about me would list 5 short stories and be done, haha.

Here is the wiki entry where I found my name: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machine_of_Death

The upcoming new edition of the book will list me without the von. I'm not sure if that's a change I can make. I'm a bit reluctant to edit or write about myself, but the red link from my name is driving me nuts. xD Bartholomew M Klick (talk) 23:29, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

AIV related question[edit]

What, exactly, are you reporting Lorem Ipsum Generator (talk · contribs) for? Someguy1221 (talk) 00:49, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lorem tried to edit a page in good faith and hit a filter. He didn't know why, so he looked through the filter hits, which for that page would have brought up the filter hit from kelnoreem you mentioned. He then thought that maybe if he started a new account he would be able to edit. When he tried, he found his IP was ACB'd by Nawlin. He was worried that Nawlin mistook his attempted edit as Lorem for vandalism, and blocked him. That's what the talk page comment was about. I know it's difficult to enter the mind of a confused newbie, but there was no bad faith here. Someguy1221 (talk) 01:00, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Martin Fernando Junior[edit]

Hi. Thanks for nominating the article for speedy deletion. I noticed you nominated it as non-notable; it was very short and contained nothing to indicate it's notability. However, it was an attack page. The second (and last) sentence was "Nobody really likes him and they all call out his name in class for no reason whatsoever".

It should have been nominated under WP:CSD#G10, which would have resulted in a quicker deletion. Attack pages are checked upon almost immediately after nomination, and are usually deleted in minutes. Non-notable articles can last several hours, or even more than a day. This article was up for over two hours.

I appreciate that you are helping the project by nominating articles for speedy deletion, but please can you make sure you nominate them correctly? Thank you. Stephen! Coming... 09:36, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ram Kishore Shukla[edit]

Hi, You made an edit to Ram Kishore Shukla that removed most of the text from the page. Your edit summary says "Remove text copied without ORTS persmisson from http://www.docstoc.com/docs/123497115/A-biography-on-Pandit-Ram-Kishore-Shukla---BDSharma reduce to stub". I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the acronym ORTS. What does it stand for? Were you concerned about a potential copyright violation? The docstoc.com link doesn't seem to work anymore. Perhaps the copying went the other way? If you could comment at Talk:Ram Kishore Shukla that would be very helpful. Thanks. Tdslk (talk) 05:31, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

basic contribution[edit]

There is an article that makes a conclusion that is confusing. That is, it is an already-negative statement with a negative conclusion (about "advising against" NOT doing something). I had to read it about three times.

I don't know the etiquette. Should I go about editing it directly, or should I contact the article's author? And if it's the latter, how do I do that? :D...

Thanks, and it feels good to be here...

Page Triage newsletter[edit]

Hey all. Some quick but important updates on what we've been up to and what's coming up next :).

The curation toolbar, our Wikimedia-supported twinkle replacement. We're going to be deploying it, along with a pile of bugfixes, to wikipedia on 9 August. After a few days to check it doesn't make anything explode or die, we'll be sticking up a big notice and sending out an additional newsletter inviting people to test it out and give us feedback :). This will be followed by two office hours sessions - one on Tuesday the 14th of August at 19:00 UTC for all us Europeans, and one on Wednesday the 15th at 23:00 UTC for the East Coasters out there :). As always, these will be held in #wikimedia-office; drop me a note if you want to know how to easily get on IRC, or if you aren't able to attend but would like the logs.

I hope to see a lot of you there; it's going to be a big day for everyone involved, I think :). I'll have more notes after the deployment! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 20:06, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of page[edit]

Hello,

I'm very new to Wikipedia - I work for a research organisation, which I made a page for and our research team staff were then going to start using our login to be able to post our research findings on topics such as professional associations, regulatory bodies, CPD, professional ethics, regulation, professional standards, etc.

Now you've removed my page - so I'm not feeling inclined to contribute the 15 years worth of research data which is incredibly valueable and not accessible ANYWHERE on the web.

If my page in re-instated, then we'd be happy to have our research staff start using Wikipedia to post our findings (all of which are from published books and articles.)

James Eagan Holmes gets a page, but the 1st man guilty of conspiracy to use a wmd does not?[edit]

the article i was in the process of writing, Anthony Hayne, when you deleted it (the page was only a few minutes old) has been restored, please join the talk page discussion this time, as you ignored my communication last time. also, please at least make an attempt to find a source before declaring an article "an attack, unsourced". there should be some kind of waiting period to allow page creators time to finish the article before you delete it. i suggest 1 hour at least. Darkstar1st (talk) 12:22, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your message and sorry for the delay in my reply. This article was deleted under WP:G10,Please note it was negative and unsourced biography with no references and biographical material about a living person that is entirely negative in tone and unsourced. These pages should be speedily deleted when there is no neutral version in the page history to revert to.Those coming under WP:G10 are to be speedy deleted.Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 01:47, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
you are welcome, thank you for the response which confused me as the article was restored with, believe it or not, a negative unsourced article [1]. Basically, all that happened was my creation was nuked and some other editor is now listed as the author? The page has since been sourced, as mine would have been if you had not deleted it TWELVE minutes after my first save. Again i ask you if you would be willing to wait at least an hour before deleting pages? I also ask that you restore my page and merge the existing citations, or allow me to add the citation i had collected in the 12 minutes it took to format my next post. [part of the delay was my post in talk which you never addressed before the deletion.) Darkstar1st (talk) 04:18, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New Pages newsletter[edit]

Hey all :)

A couple of new things.

First, you'll note that all the project titles have now changed to the Page Curation prefix, rather than having the New Pages Feed prefix. This is because the overarching project name has changed to Page Curation; the feed is still known as New Pages Feed, and the Curation Toolbar is still the Curation Toolbar. Hopefully this will be the last namechange ;p.

On the subject of the Curation Toolbar (nice segue, Oliver!) - it's now deployed on Wikipedia. Just open up any article in the New Pages Feed and it should appear on the right. It's still a beta version - bugs are expected - and we've got a lot more work to do. But if you see something going wrong, or a feature missing, drop me a note or post on the project talkpage and I'll be happy to help :). We'll be holding two office hours sessions to discuss the tool and improvements to it; the first is at 19:00 UTC on 14 August, and the second at 23:00 on the 15th. Both will be in #wikimedia-office as always. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 15:08, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Erase after you read please quote from 1906 Jewish Encyclopedia "It appears, therefore, that though his personal resentment influenced his decision to rid the Ukraine of the Jews, yet there is little doubt that it was his great ambition to become the ruler of the liberated Ukraine, which was the main motive that led him to instigate the uprising of the Little-Russian people against the Poles and the Jews. For years the people of Little Russia had been oppressed by the Polish landlord. Unwilling to attend to the details of administration himself, Chmielnicki made the Jew a go-between in his transactions with the peasants of Little Russia. He sold and leased certain privileges to Jews for a lump sum, and, while enjoying himself at the court, left it to the Jewish leaseholder and collector to become the embodiment of hatred to the oppressed and long-suffering peasant. The accumulated store of animosity was utilized by Chmielnicki in directing his cruel measures against the Jews. He told the people that the Poles had sold them as slaves "into the hands of the accursed Jews." With this as their battle-cry, the Cossacks let loose their wildest passions and most ruthlessly massacred about three hundred thousand Jews with such cruelties as the world had seldom witnessed (1648-1649).

For this great catastrophe the Jews might have prepared themselves had they taken warning from the uprising of the Cossacks in 1637, when about 2,000 Jewish leaseholders and tax-collectors were killed in Pereyaslav and its vicinity. This inexcusable short-sightedness may be accounted for in part by the influence of the cabalistic teachings which dominated the minds of the South-Russian Jews, and which, according to the interpretation of the Zohar by the cabalists, brought them to believe firmly in the coming of the Messiah in 1648." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maryester (talkcontribs) 02:40, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

breag naofa[edit]

you listed the band as "non-notable" when in fact there are sources listed from reliable sources such as alternative press, alt sounds, etc. an online radio show link will also be cited soon. Rogagainst (talk) 06:39, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message in my talk page.Sorry if it appeared to hostile to you.The page Breag Naofa does not appear to meet the criteria as per WP:Band and hence has been marked for by for a community discussion regarding its inclusion. Breag naofa "non-notability"[edit]

Once again...you posted the request for deletion due to non-notability. Yet sources were cited that we're noteworthy. In fact in the guidelines it states: A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, DJ, musical theatre group, instrumentalist, etc.) may be notable if it meets at least one of the following criteria: Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent from the musician or ensemble itself.[note 1] This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries[note 2] except for the following: Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about themselves, and all advertising that mentions the musician or ensemble, including manufacturers' advertising.[note 3] Works consisting merely of trivial coverage, such as articles that simply report performance dates, release information or track listings, or the publications of contact and booking details in directories. Articles in a school or university newspaper (or similar), in most cases. Rogagainst (talk) 09:00, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Rogagainst, you know what my first thoughts were when I came across this article? "Great band name, like the sounds, let's go about saving it from speedy deletion." Looked for a mention in a G-news search, and found this. Looked it up, no Wikipedia article of AltSound. No problem, I'll just create the article, and believe me, if I could have found enough reliable sources aside from the website itself, that wouldn't be a "red-link". Right, I'll create an article for the record label, and work from there. Panic Records is still a red-link.--Shirt58 (talk) 09:34, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
@Rogagainst: you might like to lay off the aggressive tone, too. That, and an obvious conflict of interest are not helping your cause.--Shirt58 (talk) 09:44, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship[edit]

Hi Pharaoh, I imagine you have, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Have you considered running for adminship? Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 17:04, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message and very sorry for my delay in replying truly I have never thought about adminship through I have been in the project since 2006 and despite being RFA regular and would do it only if I felt the project would benefit due to it. But as one committed to the project think would do so at some point in the future.Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 20:40, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There are a handful of editors dedicated to answering questions, and I found some other useful information at the Teahouse, in addition to the helpful Cheat Sheet included on the welcome template. Need to be more careful on the template you are using... Need spaces after periods and between words. It is "an Italian" not "a Italian". Making the same mistakes on the cyclist articles you are creating. FYI... I can barely read your talk page. The red is not good for colour blind people.
