Thanks for participating in my RfA!

Thanks for participating in my RfA!
Although it failed 43/27/0, I'm happy because the outcome has been very helpful in many meaningful ways. Moreover you alerted me to your understandable concerns about civility. I will take heed and carefully address them. I believe I'd already resolved any worries about edit warring but a few comments on the page strongly reinforced my thoughts on the topic. All the best, Gwen Gale (talk) 05:28, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RFA

Pedro/Archive 16, Thank you for your support in my RFA which passed 43/0/1. I would like to especially thank Bibliomaniac15 for being my nominator and admin coach. I would also like to thank Rudget for being my co-nominator. I'm sure that I can live up to the community's expectations as an administrator, and not totally mess everything up. Thanks again for your support! Malinaccier (talk) 17:28, 26 January 2008 (UTC) [reply]

My RFA

Thanks!
Pedro/Archive 16, thank you for showing your support in my RFA which passed with 38 support, 0 oppose, and 0 neutral! I also want to give special thanks to my Admin Coach and nominator, Useight for all of his help and support. I promise that I'll give my best effort as an admin, and I hope that your confidence in me proves to be justified. If I can ever be of any help, please let me know. In the mean time, I have some cleaning to do.

Have a great day! Jauerbackdude?/dude. 20:22, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My Rfa

Well, not this time anyway it seems...my effort to regain my adminship was unsuccessful, but your support was still very much appreciated. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Thank you!--MONGO 07:13, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

Thank you very much. I'm not so keen on spamming round pretty pictures, but I do appreciate your support. It's been one hell of a roller-coaster! Cheers. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 23:24, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Favour

Pedro, hope you are keeping well. Back in the autumn we had a conversation where you were kind enough to suggest that I might be admin material but we were both in agreement that the time was not right. Two months down the line I feel ready to take the plunge; I would greatly value your opinion so I was wondering whether you could spare a moment to review my contribs and let me know what you think. Many thanks in advance, kind regards, nancy (talk) 16:48, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your swift and generous reply. Apologies for the tardiness of mine - have had an absolute mare at work today as at 8.44am (just as I was composing a lovely reply to you) a man in the roadworks outside put his spade through all the fibre coming in to our building so we have had no phones no external email and no internet all day. Hey ho. Anyway, to answer your questions; yes I am amenable to your offer and would be positively delighted to accept and secondly my real life gender is reflected in my wiki username - I am a she. Thanks again, best regards, nancy (talk) 18:58, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Gosh that was quick! - thank you so much. Normal service has been resumed at work so I'm back on line but I will wait to do the formal acceptance and answering the questions until this evening - need to make sure I get it right before I leap in to the fray...... kind regards, nancy (talk) 10:47, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
All done and transcluded. You obviously did a lot of research for the nomination statement and I am overwhelmed by your generosity both with your time and with your words and don't really know how to thank you - may be I can offer to buy you a virtual pint. nancy (talk) 19:45, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No Probs. I saw it go transclusion so I've (obviously!) put in my support! Pedro :  Chat  20:13, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reckless promises coming back to haunt you

Hi Pedro,

Remember saying this? Is the last sentence still true? If so, please take a look at my comments to MastCell earlier this evening. I'm thinking of trying again next week. Are you around then? Are you interested in co-nominating? --barneca (talk) 04:27, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thank you. --barneca (talk) 13:18, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and created it myself, so I'd have a place to store answers as I write them. MastCell is on a little break, and I have very little time myself until next week, so there's absolutely no rush on anything; compose at your leisure. Thanks again. --barneca (talk) 15:13, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Hi there, I was a bit surprised when I saw WikiProject Bangladesh tag on your userpage. Just a quick questing, are you from Bangladesh? And thanks for your support at AfD pages. Actually, I tagged those articles immediately just because they really violates some core policies. One of them has already been tagged for Speedy Deletion by another Wikipedian. And I always try my best to explain reasons in a polite tone to the newcomers. Cheers. -- Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 16:05, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ha! That made me double think! No it's a "wikipedia advert" and it shows a random one, changing from time to time! I'm from England as it happens! I agree with the decisions you have made at those AfD's and am concerned by one user who appears to be just throwing "keep" comments without sensible rationales. As the Speedy Deletion goes WP:CSD#A7 is a very narrow category and allthough the article was poor it did have some assertion of notability hence my decline. You did the right thing taking it of to AFD. Best. Pedro :  Chat  16:08, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much. -- Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 16:34, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Roger's RFA

Thanks, I have fixed it now. Hopefully the bots can read it as well now. I was wondering why they didn't grab the data correctly. Thanks for letting me know. Woody (talk) 16:17, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback followup

I was going to thank you earlier for fulfilling my request for roll back, I did indeed notice a concern by this admin and your subsequent comments to them. I appreciated your comments and you are correct, the usage of roll back is unlikely, and definitely limited. I hope others find as I have that it has a limited usage. It has been 20 days I've used it twice and once may have been an accident in hindsight but it was on a vandals virtually non-existent user page. Thanks again I will keep this a closely guarded tool. Slysplace | talk 01:10, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good news. It does have limited use, but in the hands of a vandal rollback could be a real pain, so I don't like to grant it willy nilly. Glad you're making great use of it! Pedro :  Chat  08:13, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seemingly random request

...mainly made because you're online now! If you could take a quick look at Nundah, Queensland and offer any suggestions on the talk page (you know what that is, right? (just messing with you meta-editors :P)), it'd be appreciated. Cheers, Dihydrogen Monoxide (party) 10:09, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll wing on over there! Pedro :  Chat  10:11, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't even react to my incredible wit :( Dihydrogen Monoxide (party) 10:14, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know exactly what a talk page is - it's the page where you're not supposed to use roll back willy nilly, or refactor people's typo's with AWB. Someone did mention some rubbish about "colaborative editing" but I've never heard of that ..... :) Pedro :  Chat  10:55, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Neither. I suppose it's not that important...the ArbCom solves those disputes best anyway (semi-sarcasm, if that!) I should also point out that the talk page is where you can raise your edit count with WikiProject Banners ;) Dihydrogen Monoxide (party) 08:41, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ha. Don't care about editcount no more! :) Pedro :  Chat  08:44, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nor do I. Incidentally, I just realised you have the exact same vocab as my business teacher last year. I got a 6 (1-7 scale), so I can't complain, although the reply on my talk page applies to her too :P dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 08:55, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Mate, have you read the deletion logs? dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 08:59, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Doh! I just hovered the mouse over it. I'm pants. Pedro :  Chat  09:01, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm totally going to Category:Rouge non-bureaucrats if I ever bribe my way through RfA. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 09:04, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nancy's RFA

Just wanted to say that your nom in this case is one of the best (if not the best) nominations I have seen here. It is exactly the sort of thing a potential voter likes to see right away. Lookin' good! :) Jmlk17 20:58, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers my man - that means a lot, particularly coming from your good self. Pedro :  Chat  21:34, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I sense a mistake

Dear Pedro, I have just come to learn that User:NAHID has been given a rollback permission from your post to his talk page. While the initiative is most welcome, I sense a little mistake here. Was there enough background check? You see, this editor has been accused of borderline stalking, lame edit wars, inappropriate AfD closures, incivility and more. Much of it directed against me. I have kept a collection of exchanges between him and I here. I was under the impression that the rollback requests would accompany ample background check, but had doubted it and opposed the proposal when the discussion was going on. I would very much like to believe I was wrong then, and I am wrong now. I am taking a personal interest in this as I have suffered most from inappropriate actions of this editor. Please, take look into the matter. Thanks. Aditya(talkcontribs) 14:00, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry that you feel that you have "suffered from inappropriate actions". The granting of rollback does not, as you are probably aware, have a "formal" process or set of guidelines, but is up to the discretion of administrators. User:NAHID met my personal criteria in that he has had no blocks recently, has made substantial edits and has demonstrated that he can use existing reversion tools (scripts or undo) correctly. Being in disputes or at the center of allegations of stalking or whatever is not really a reason to deny rollback in itself. As I am sure you are aware rollback is for use for reverting vandalism only. If NAHID, or any user, were to use it improperly it's revocation is as simple as its grating. I trust that NAHID will not use it in any disputes, whether with you or others. If you wish you may want to open a thread at WP:ANI so other admins can review my decision. In addition if you feel that NAHID's contributions are breaking policies on wiki-stalking, incivility, No Personal attacks or whatever I will happily review these informally for you.Pedro :  Chat  14:22, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ultraexactzz is now an Administrator

My RfA was successful, and closed with 44 Supports, 6 Opposes, and 1 Neutral. For your support, you have my thanks - I fully intend to live up to the lofty yet not-a-big-deal responsibility you have granted me. For those who opposed my candidacy, I value your input and advice, and hope that I may prove worthy of your trust. Special thanks to both Rudget and bibliomaniac15 for their expert coaching and guidance. I look forward to serving the project, my fellow editors, the pursuit of higher knowledge, et cetera, et cetera. Again, you have my thanks. No adminship?

[1]? dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 08:41, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is rollbacker me [2]!! No, not like I'm off or anything - but I've being getting spammed a lot (on email) recently by editors "admin shopping" when they've finished "forum shopping" so I've taken it out for a day or so. Probably won't make any diference due to Special:List User but I can but try. And I don't want to disable e-mail. Also, I think I prefer "editor" to admin (not that I do enough editing!!). But don't panic, I'm not off to meta for a de-sysop any time soon. <cue>Rest of community groans and wishes Pedro was</cue> Pedro :  Chat  08:46, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
