Re: New Articles[edit]

Hi! Yes, it feels very nice and satisfying to start some new articles. I had not been able to do so in the recent past. Indeed, it felt great today :)

No, I have not been to Kullu Manali. I was trying to develop the article Himachal Pradesh. And found the scope to create several new articles from there. How are you? --Dwaipayan (talk) 15:57, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please help with your sources to develop Haraprasad Shastri.--Dwaipayan (talk) 06:01, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the continuing help. Yes basing the article on one single major source (in this case, Banglapedia) is not adequate. That's particularly why I asked for your guidance, aided by your repertoir of sources.--Dwaipayan (talk) 05:09, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh! What happened? Hope nothing serious. Please take care. And thanks a lot for bringing the article to a respectable look.--Dwaipayan (talk) 09:13, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Brahmo Samaj[edit]

Hi, I am back on Wikipedia, and also back to work after my course. I find that there has been some changes here. Many of the old regulars are missing. My attention was drawn to the number of Brahmo Samaj pages that have cropped up. I also find that you have retreated after some edit conflicts. What's the matter? And what about your health? Anything wrong? With best wishes. - Seejee (talk) 12:36, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Updated DYK query On 13 April, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Birhor people, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

With regard to this sentence:

The Shastri title was conferred on those who secured a first class and he was the only student in his batch to do so.

I don't think I understand fully what this means, especially "secured a first class" and "only student in his batch to do so". Is "first class" some type of grade, and should batch be class?

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Coal mining in India, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Category:Coal mining in India. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 02:59, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request Suggestions[edit]

I looked you up from Wikiproject India, in which I have enlisted myself. I have been spending some time bringing this article up to par and I have done a lot of work today. Would you take a look into the article and suggest the ways in which it can be expanded (I have a list of mathematical, medical, and engineering related innovations but am really lacking in the machines, astronomy, physics etc. fields) and made better? I want to bring it up to the level of this article and then work on the Science and technology in ancient India (rename it 'History of science and technology in India') article and then perhaps add a section like this one in the India article.

Thanks in advance,South Block (talk) 09:09, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I saw your note asking for clarification about the controversial nature of this book. There is a section quite near the end of the article ("literary significance") that might answer your question. Joyous! | Talk 04:49, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reigen[edit]

Thanks for your additions to La Ronde (play). Two comments:

1) Although I support all your editing, why was this marked "m"?

2) Over a year ago (on the discussion page) I suggested dealing with the strange name of this article (it should surely be changed to "Reigen"). Apart from your comment/edit there has been zero response, so what do you suggest? Testbed (talk) 16:14, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Nibaran Chandra Mukherjee[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Nibaran Chandra Mukherjee, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No assertion of notability.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. The article Shikarpur, Shimoga has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article is an exact duplicate of Shikaripura. Wonder how it has managed to stay since 2007.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Why so serious? File:Umesh Chandra Dutta.jpg needs authorship information.[edit]

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Umesh Chandra Dutta.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided),authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:{{subst:usernameexpand|P.K.Niyogi}} will produce an appropriate expansion,

or the {{own}} template..

If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:40, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Kerala St Francis Church 4.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Kerala St Francis Church 4.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. Thanks for uploading File:Kendubillo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest[edit]

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Please claim your upload(s): File:Rome - Piazza di Spagna.JPG[edit]

Hi, This image was seemingly uploaded prior to current image polices, Thank you.

However, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure all media on English Wikipedia is correctly licensed and attributed it would be appreciated if you were able to confirm, that it was your own work, by marking it as {{own}}, amending the {{information}} added by a third party, and by changing the license to an appropriate "self" variant. You can also add |claimed=yes to the {{Media by uploader}} or {{Presumed self}} tag(s) if present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).

IF you have other uploads, please consider "claiming" them in a similar manner, You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

This will assist those reviewing the many many "free" images on commons that have not yet been transferred to Commons. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:54, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem: Bargi[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Bargi article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text—which means allowing other people to modify it—then you must include on the external site the statement: "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later, and under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribute Share-Alike".

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question at the Help Desk. You can also leave a message on my talk page. Worldbruce (talk) 18:16, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Kolkata 1690.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Pretty clearly a scan or photo of a book - there's water damage on the river! Own work claim therefore dubious at best.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ♠PMC(talk) 18:53, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
