Welcome[edit]

Thanks for your recent excellent work on List of atheists. Judging from the quality of the contributions, I'd say you're already an experienced editor. Whatever the case, welcome, and thanks. Nick Graves (talk) 13:45, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edamaruku[edit]

I put him back in, with references. To find the references, I just typed "Edamaruku International Atheist Award 1979" into a Google search, and the first two results just happened to be excellent sources. Thanks for the tip about his award. Nick Graves (talk) 14:19, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 16:03, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good words[edit]

Hello Oolon. I do my best to write exactly what I mean. So yes, my good words about you were entirely sincere. Sorry that they came across differently at first. Nick Graves (talk) 19:31, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No footnotes in preview[edit]

Wikimedia doesn't display the footnotes when you edit a subsection because there is no tag there to request it. You could always temporarily add {{reflist}} to the subsection just so you can preview your footnotes, then delete that tag before saving your edits. --David from Downunder (talk) 12:54, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Recognition[edit]

The Invisible Pink Barnstar
In recognition of your prolific, high quality additions to the List of atheists, I award you this Invisible Pink Barnstar. The pace you have set is relentless, and I must confess my inability to keep up! Keep 'em coming! Nick Graves (talk) 23:05, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Oolon. I have replaced the Original Barnstar I awarded you with a much more suitable alternative, designed for exceptional contributions to atheism-related articles. I had searched for such an award before, but had to settle for the Original Barnstar when I found no atheism-specific award. Fortunately, Merzul got around to designing one, and I should note that it was created specifically with your contributions in mind! I notice you've been playing it cool the past week or so, but I do look forward to seeing what you have in store once your break is over. Thanks, and cheers. Nick Graves (talk) 03:20, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! Thanks Nick and Merzul! (I guess a Barnstar with noodly appendages might be rather tricky, so I'm very happy to have an Invisible Pink one ;-) )

Indenting comments[edit]

The convention for indenting in Wikipedia is for it to reflect the threading of the discussion - for it to make clear what each comment is a reply to. Specifically, if your comment has an indentation of 4, it is a reply to the nearest above comment with an indentation of 3. The convention is not to simply use an indentation of one greater than that of the most recent comment. Doing so obfuscates the conversation's structure, and should be avoided. Ilkali (talk) 12:24, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah okay, makes sense sort of. I've seen it done in discussion lists like that, but without a tree structure it wasn't so clear here, so I was going for identity of speaker over to-which-it-referred, making the latter clear in what I say. Sorry, I'm more used to proper message boards! Cheers! Oolon (talk) 12:39, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
To keep the identity separate when indenting at the same level as the previous message, just insert a blank line (or maybe two if the previous post included blank lines as uber-paragraph breaks.) Maybe we should all distinguish the first letter/word/words similar to newspaper articles?! David from Downunder (talk) 08:04, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Steel[edit]

I swear I heard him say he was an atheist or that he didn't believe in god on tv one time. If you ever find a source either way on the matter then let me know! EchetusXe (talk) 13:49, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey thats great work, a real improvement. EchetusXe (talk) 13:14, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of atheists (surnames T to Z) ta-daa. Probably won't bother doing anymore but if I do it will be R-S and so on.--EchetusXe (talk) 18:29, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Turns out I did List of atheists (surnames R to S) as well. yay.--EchetusXe (talk) 01:31, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
List of atheists (surnames N to Q). What happened to you? lol--EchetusXe (talk) 19:41, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of nontheists[edit]

Hello, Oolon. How are you doing? Do you care to share your thoughts on the proposed move? Given your monumental contributions to the list, it just doesn't seem right to not hear your opinion on the proposal. Here's a draft of how the list might appear if it were renamed. Thanks, and take care! Nick Graves (talk) 01:35, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sagan and the List of nontheists[edit]

Hello. Some time in the past few months, you've contributed to a discussion about whether Sagan should be included in the List of nontheists. I'm taking a straw poll to see where people are at currently with regard to this issue. Your input on the matter would be very helpful. Please see the discussion here to contribute your viewpoint. Thanks! Nick Graves (talk) 23:57, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Adding to list of atheists in music[edit]

Hello and thank you for working on list of atheists in music. I would like to suggest Rixa White; British Electronic Musician to be added. Here is his quote, answering to critics at http://top40-charts.com/news.php?nid=85382 "It is my intention to release the well-hidden deep chronic sense of insecurity and dissatisfaction in my listeners. I insist on facing the life burden instead of pretending that everything is fine outside while suffering inside. Rixa White said as an agnostic atheist musician and added a quote from Nietzsche: "You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star" to answer the critics". Thanks again. Disambiguation link notification for October 9[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Frank Hamilton (singer), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mike Skinner (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Questions on the "List of atheists in science and technology" inclusion discussion[edit]

Dear Oolon Colluphid, since you are somewhat active on some of the atheists articles, is it possible to take part in the discussion of this article: Talk:List of atheists in science and technology. There is a Wikipedia user named "Pgarret" who is removing some well documented people (like Alan Turing and Steve Wozniak) from this list because he/she is commenting that Wikipedia's policy states that scientists must labeled themselves as atheists. "Pgarret" is also removing atheists who had said some nice things about religion (which I don't understand). If we were to take this guideline in a strict fashion, even Richard Dawkins would not be included in the list since he also called himself an agnostic as well. Source:Richard Dawkins: I can't be sure God does not exist. If you don't want to take part, could find and contact other administrators to take part in this issue? If not, could you please tell me how to alert other wikpedian users/administrators into this debate? I would appreciate it. Ninmacer20 (talk) 18:52, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
