I've created the page "DEACOM Integrated Accounting and ERP Software" that you recently deleted. How may I go about restoring this page while ensuring it is not deleted again? I tried to make it as general as possible, following suit after competitor products listed on wikipedia (see Batchmaster, SAP). Can you provide some insight? 66.212.6.210 (talk) 12:38, 29 September 2008 (UTC)shaws1131

If it looks like a neutral article, not an advertisement. Please note that words like "solution" tend to be interpreted as advertisement words - see the page on words to avoid. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 04:14, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

I've reprotected the page because this user is a sockpuppeteer who is likely to return to edit under another name. We aren't blocking as a punishment; rather, blocking is to prevent further disruption, and under that premise, I am protecting this talk page from anon edits as well. We want any further action on the part of admins to become absolutely unnecessary, so that we can focus on other more important tasks. I hope you understand. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 16:20, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Restoring image - File:O(1D) from O3.jpg

You recently deleted an image File:O(1D) from O3.jpg that was part of an article on Photofragment-ion imaging currently under construction. The image was uploaded with the permission of the copyright owner and a hangon tag because I have not yet had a chance to discuss Wikipedia's license conditions with the author. Could you please reply to me on the talk page of the Photofragment-ion imaging article outlining exactly what I need to take to keep the image, and any future images, that may need to be added to the primary article to improve its usefulness. LaserRepairman (talk) 08:23, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

For your information, Wikipedia allows only 2 kinds of images:
  1. Free images - images which have a license which allows subsequent re-use, including creating derivative works and commercial use.
  2. Fair use - see WP:FAIRUSE for a description of the conditions necessary.

Museums / A7

Hi Od Mishehu. You pointed out that museums are not subject to A7. Can you show me where I can find a list of the stuff that's suggested by the plain language ("organizations") that isn't covered? This is the second time today that I got that comment (on "stuff" generally, not "museums", that is). Thanks. Bongomatic (talk) 11:08, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

I don't think it should apply to museums any more than it does for schools (explicitly excluded in CSD A7). I am unaware of any such list like you're requesting. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 11:12, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

I am interested in learning why this page was deleted. I am prepared to discuss this and talk about reasons that I think it should be on Wikipedia.

The media type was not the issue, the problem is I can't see this ever being used in anything. Ironholds (talk) 15:23, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

The CSD you gave says "Files uploaded that are neither image, sound, nor video files (e.g. .doc, .pdf, or .xls files) which are not used in any article and have no foreseeable encyclopedic use". To the best of my reading, there is no CSD which applies to free JPeg images which have no reasonable chance of being used. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 05:48, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Unblock request of User talk:118.92.211.247

You recently declined the unblock request of this user, but you seem to have been a bit too hasty in declining. A look at the block log shows the IP was actually blocked for 31 hours about a week ago, and so shouldn't be blocked now. Most likely the user saw the message on their talk page and was confused. Their only edit since the block was not vandalism. Next time, taking the time to review a user's contributions and block log would be beneficial. Thanks. Trackless Sea

Hello. I'm not sure what content was under Trackless Sea when you deleted it; since then a redirect has been placed there. If it was not copyvio, could you please restore the edit history? Thanks! BOZ (talk) 05:02, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

As you can see for yourself, all there was there was a redirect to a deleted article. The article in question is Taylola. I see no reason why this needs to be undeleted, but I have no objection now that there is a new redirect at Trackless Sea. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 07:52, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Was it only a redirect with nothing else in the history? That is, was it an article that had been redirected, or was it originally created as a redirect and had never been anything but a redirect? BOZ (talk) 12:51, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
There was nothing but a redirect. First a user tried to create a redirect, but accidentally used single square brackets in stead of double; the second revision is fixing the redirect, and the third revision is tagging for speedy deletion as a redirect to a deleted page. The redirect target, Taylola, was tagged for PROD as a "non-notable sea" and deleted 6 days later. Just for the record, it was a 2 sentence long stub, where the second sentence is "It is also known as the Trackless Sea by the Faerûn". עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 14:06, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Regarding the Adbillsoft article and User:Jamesbaek

Hello there. As I am a new administrator, I thought I would ask a more experienced one for advice on this matter. Namely, as this user seems to do nothing but create promotional material, and the aforementioned article has been created twice now, is it appropriate to:

  1. Block the user (and if so, should I apply an indefinite block)?
  2. Protect the article from recreation?

Thanks in advance. It Is Me Here t / c 17:44, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Salting should only be done if there's a number of accounts causing problems here; in this case there only seems to be one. Additionally, it's not just one title that's a problem - there's several. So no need to salt.
About blocking - here we come into the area where some admins are quicker to block, while others aren't as quick. I would probably have given the user a {{uw-create4im}} template before blocking, although others may not do so. The block probably should be indef. It also seemas to be the case that if a couple days go by without any edits by the user, the issue is considered to be "stale", and no block is to be done unless there's more problems. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 05:13, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Your declination of unblock of IP User:194.72.9.25

You declined the unblock with a reason of "Please make this request whilst logged in". If I had been able to edit whilst I was logged in I wouldn't have had to request the unblock of that IP address. I was able to find a way around the block, but if an editor posts as an IP and claims to be a regular editor, you should AGF that it is the case. Mjroots (talk) 21:53, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

As far as I could tell, this request could only have been made due to an autoblock. This is because your account wasn't blocked directly, and the IP address had an anon only block (which means that registered users can edit through it), and there was no range block. Under those circumstances, you should have been able to make an unblock request while logged in; admins tend to decline lifting autoblocks when only anon users request it. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 07:47, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, I was logged in, and then got a message that the IP had been blocked. I was unable to edit despite being logged in, so resorted to logging out to post on the talk page. Had to log in on the secure server to carry on editing which was highly annoying because I then have to confirm each new page viewed. This problem really needs to be sorted out, as it's happened twice to me this weekend. Mjroots (talk) 08:28, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
Even if there was an autoblock on the IP address, you still should have been able to edit your own talk page while logged in. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 17:01, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Airfrance353's unblock request

Erm, that edit was made almost a year ago. Garden. 11:40, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm aware of this. My point is that none of the user's edits were constructive, and his only claim of what he did wrong is "arrogance". I would also like to point out that I had just looked at his userpage - and it seems like he is a sockpuppet. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 11:42, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Ok, just making sure. Garden. 12:15, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

I have tried to find the content through google search yet i have found no luck to find anything that is about the "film" or anything that connects to the cartoon that the "film" is based upon, all the actors thats starring it including Drake Bell, Britney Spears and her sister together would of sureley get lots of mentions through different sites but not one single mention which make it look like a fake, writtin by and made up by a user a waste of wikipedia's space this is the main reason to why i put the speedy delete tag up with notabilty second if it had exsited. I will be putting the tag up again and if you remove the tag i will see another admin about this coz it definitly looks to be fake and it should not be on wikipedia. Pro66 (talk) 13:09, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

I didn't say it shouldn't be deleted. I merely said that it isn't covered by any criterion for speedy deletion. We do have CSD A7 which covers real people, groups of real people, and web content; CSD A9 which covers musical recordings by people about whom there is no article; other subjects aren't speedy deletable under lack of notability. Even if it's a hoax, that doesn't make it speedy material unless it's a blatant hoax.
If you retag it, I promise I won't be the admin to deal with it. However, I doubt it will be deleted. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 13:47, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

To the best of my understanding of Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Administrator instructions, the order of actions is:
  1. Close the discussion.
  2. Orphan the template (or put it in the holding cell and wait for it to be orphaned)
  3. Delete the template.
Since stage 2 isn't done yet, it's too early to move on to stage 3. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 08:17, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello! You recently deleted Ленинградский диксиленд since the original author had either requested or blanked the page. Not being a bot expert, can I check the name. The edit for bot reports links to Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Bot, an odd name (repetition etc). Should this be Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/SPI/Bot header or .../Bot reports, or something, like the other section headers? FT2 (Talk | email) 18:35, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi OM - I notice you removed a completed day from WP:SFD - they're usually left there until all the work is complete on them, including the bot-assisted moving of the articles (if needed) and deletion of old categories. CSD Patroll Tagging in Twinkle

Twinkle should already do this, as long as the page that you're tagging is able to marked as patrolled. It's subject to the same restrictions as if you were to patrol a page manually; i.e. the "[Mark this page as patrolled]" link must be present, which only occurs if you reach the page from Special:NewPages. Additionally, there is a configuration parameter, called markSpeedyPagesAsPatrolled, that can be used to enable or disable the functionality. Let me know if you're having problems with the feature on my talk page and I'll be happy to get you sorted out! Ioeth (talk contribs twinkle friendly) 16:53, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
