RGV Ocelots[edit]

You clearly don't understand the core policies of Wikipedia. You are an employee of this club, and as such have a conflict of interest which means that your additions NEED to be edited for consistency and copy. You do not own that article, and therefore have no right to remove information on the midguided notion that no-one but you is "authorized" to use it. It clearly states at the bottom of the edit box "If you do not want your writing to be edited, used, and redistributed at will, then do not submit it here" The very fact that you said there was "unauthorized editing of copyrighted material by JonBroxton" proves that you have ownership issues and there is a copyright violation. The information you have added is full of weasel words, non-neutral point of view statements which are in conflict with Wikipedia's core policies, and information on an old-club which has little to no relevance to the club as it stands right now. Please do not revert edits which are intended to improve the article and its usefulness to others. Wikipedia is a COLLABORATIVE project. Thank you. JonBroxton (talk) 01:19, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain to me how *I* have a conflict of interest. I have no relationship with this team. JonBroxton (talk) 04:33, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your long and detailed response. In reading it, it seems that it would probably be better to have a completely new article on the Ocelots (as it seems to be a completely new entity), and return the Bravos article to the state it was in before the msot recent edits were made. Would you be happy with that compromise? JonBroxton (talk) 04:58, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your prompt response. Neither do I have a relationship with this team--although I do live in the Valley region. The Ocelots are getting some good results and gaining a decent following, so naturally, given the research that I've done, it should be known that the current franchise (like so many others across the country) has a rich history behind it that should be preserved for posterity. Ocelots FC should be a separate page since it is a completely new entity. The Bravos page should be kept separately as RGV Bravos FC. If I'm not mistaken, it's already split into two, and I've left one of them alone. The best bet is to keep one page as it is and the newer page to remain as RGV Ocelots FC. My apologies for any misunderstandings and thanks again for your cooperation.
Then I'll create a brand new page for the Bravos, and move all the information relating to that team to that page, and leave the Ocelots to you. Just remember, though: PLEASE familiarize yourself with the policy regarding WP:COPYVIO, weasel words and WP:NPOV. One of the main issues I have with the info you provided is that it is EXACTLY the same as the info on the Ocelots site, which is absolutely agsinst Wikipolicy. You just can't do that. Also, the page is written like a publicity piece for the team, and not as a non-biased encyclopedia article. You need to get rid of all the fluff and simply present the facts in a neutral way. Rio Grande Valley Ocelots FC[edit]

Please don't introduce copyrighted material into the Rio Grande Valley Ocelots FC again. You have been warned for this before, but you have continued doing this. Further copyright violations will get your account blocked. Fram (talk) 06:42, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
