Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:TomSelleck.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Tom Selleck.jpg. The copy called Image:Tom Selleck.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 03:44, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Verses a bot giving you a warning, you need to find an admin to help you with your screen shot image of the Las Vegas opening. Your image will be up for delete in 2 days because you can't OWN a screen shot. There is a copyright image tag for screen shots. If you don't quickly tag your image correctly, it will be deleted. Remember, no one owns screenshots.CelticGreen 01:44, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Duncan McNeill and Tom Selleck images[edit]

Hi, just letting you know, when you upload images of individuals such as active, living actors, you must use images of "free" use. These images have no copyright to them. These are generally taken at appearances, conventions, in public, by individuals who release them to the public with no copyright status. This does not include screencaptures or publicity/promotional images, as these are non-free use images, and are such copyrighted. A good source for finding images of free use would be www.flickr.com - but even then you still must check the copyright status on the page. If they say "all rights reserved" then the image is copyrighted and still cannot be used. Even if it says "some rights reserved" you must check the copyright status on the page, and review WP:FU to see if it qualifies for use. You can also check Wikimedia Commons for images that may already be uploaded and permissable, then you just have to enter the image filename in the article where you want and it will show up like it was uploaded to Wikipedia. Just wanted you to know that this is why the images you uploaded have been deleted. Unfortunatley, accoriding to WP:FU, if a free image is available it must be used, and if there is no image, then no image can be used. You cannot use a non-free use image until a free use image is posted. Any questions further on the subject, you can read WP:FU as this states the fair/free use image policy. Thanks. Ejfetters 00:46, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked to give you a chance to read and understand WP:IUP, which you have continued to violate. --Yamla 21:57, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Old TV series[edit]

Please stop changing the lead verb tense for TV series that are no longer in production. Wikipedia uses the present tense to refer to creative works including TV programs because the work still exists, regardless of whether it is still in production. You will see the same format for films, novels, etc. Regards, AUTiger » talk 01:32, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Ark of Truth DVD.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ark of Truth DVD.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Marion-Skull2.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Marion-Skull2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:07, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Early Edition DVD.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Early Edition DVD.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:06, 11 September 2009 (UTC). Thank you for uploading File:NCIS LA Intro.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

I hope you don't mind, but I've just taken the liberty of adding a copyright tag to this image and providing some bare-basics rationale for its use on the Clubhouse article. The image is an asset in the infobox; thanks for contributing it. — WFinch (talk) 02:05, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:DavidMGrant.gif[edit]

If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
